Kevin Feige said that he and his fellow Marvel Studios staff always wanted to create a holiday special, but they didn’t have the right platform to put it on until Disney Plus rolled in. James Gunn specifically chose Drax and Mantis to have the most focus in this special, because he felt they were sidelined in their last three film appearances which were Infinity War, Endgame, and Love and Thunder. Mantis’ parentage was originally from a deleted scene in Volume 2. It happened during Yondu’s funeral. While Kraglin was teaching Star-Lord how to use the Zune that Yondu left as a parting gift, Mantis confided in Drax that Ego was also her father. Right off the bat, a lot of things happened offscreen after the Guardians parted ways with Thor and Korg. Nebula pretty much confirmed that the Collector is still alive. After Thanos left Knowhere in flames, we were led to believe that he killed him when he got the reality stone. However, it looks like both Knowhere and the Collector somehow managed to survive. I’m guessing they were able to afford it by answering all those distress calls regarding Gorr the God Butcher. Cosmo was also part of the Collector’s collection. When the Guardians purchased Knowhere, they released Cosmo and welcomed her to the team. As for Young Adult Groot, or Swoll Groot, James said that he was getting bigger both upward and outward. He also said that he has a different and stockier physiology as well as a more outgoing personality than the first Groot. My guess is that Groot must have been inspired by Thor’s workout routine. My favorite funny moments were bulletproof Drax, Rocket lunging at Kevin, and Bucky’s arm. Also, Fictionaldarling pointed out that Peter might not be the most rational among the Avengers but he definitely is the most rational among the Guardians. He has to be especially with Gamora gone. Even Nebula respects him as a leader. My favorite heartfelt moments were Peter’s reaction to the winter wonderland, Groot getting a Game Boy as a present, and Peter realizing that he still had family by blood. I also gotta talk about the music. I’m so glad we got more unique holiday songs in this special. The only track I was already familiar with was Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses which is what played in the night club. The first time I heard that song was in Shrek the Halls. While I liked the beat from the song we opened the special with, I personally liked the lyrics in the second song a lot more. There’s also a big change in ambience between the two. The crowd wasn’t into the first song, but when Kevin joined in they clearly got a standing ovation. By the way, Kevin has a band with his older brother Michael. They’re simply called the Bacon Brothers. You’re almost there, guys. All you gotta do is watch Quantumania, and then you’re good to finally watch Volume 3. Until then folks, the Guardians of the Galaxy demand your silence.

I have been talking about I think I have OCD, and considering how much neurodiversity we have in my kids, and these disorders will go hand in hand as best friends so I'm not even joking, I literally do think my OCD is worse than used to think, but I also think a strong commitment to the things that you love. Happy Christmas in July! This was so much fun, definitely added to my list of Christmastime must-watches (along with MIracle on 34th Street and Muppet Christmas Carol). It's nice seeing Mantis given more focus - it's obvious that Pom Klementieff had way too much fun filming this. Oh, and I need Groot's workout routine...

What makes this even better is that Kevin bacon is canonically Kevin bacon in the MCU. This episode basically tells us that DC movies/comics exist in this universe as well, they know Batman. This was a pretty fun episode I liked the storyline and the characters they used for it. Didn’t thanos kill gamorra?

Yes, they have been married for a lot of years. I don't really know much about Kyra Sedgwick except the fact that she's married to Kevin bacon and she was in a movie with Robert Downey Jr. That I love called heart and souls

Thanos killed 'our' Gamora. The one now is the earlier timeline Gamora that jumped to the future with Thanos... before she ever became part of The Guardians. She took off on her own before the end of Endgame. (And kicked Peter in the balls.)

Kyra Sedgwick was in an excellent US TV series "The Closer". I have the entire series on DVD it is so good. Another excellent movie she was in was Secondhand Lions with Haley Joel Osment, Robert Duvall and Michael Caine.
