Memento 2000 FULL REACTION

This movie is such a mind trip, and even when you reach the ending, it’s confusing. Christopher Nolan’s way of perceiving time in his films is so great.

Legatus

This is tied with The Prestige for me. Two of Nolans best films imo

Chris B

Absolutely! Although I'm a huge fan of Interstellar too. Ironically, Inception (which most people have as their Nolan's favorite) is closer to the bottom of my Nolan list.

My favorite Nolan flick and shows early storytelling devices he'd use throughout his filmography. I worried all month you guys wouldn't enjoy this. I showed it to a couple of friends a few years back and they were bored and turned to looking at their phones, so it was a joy to see you so invested.

Many people don't really pay attention to movies anymore. If things get a bit more challenging, they can't really follow the plot. I always find that a shame, because some really good movies get bad reviews simply because they don't understand them. I love movies where you really have to pay attention so you don't miss anything and understand the entire plot. That's a real movie experience. Of course, movies like Transformers are also very entertaining, for in-between times. I simply love everything about movies.

This movie is crazy good. My 3rd watch and still messed up with my brain. 15 minutes in and I was like, “yeah, why don’t I remember Sammy? Uhhh..” Later on, I thought, “wouldn’t it be cool to rewatch this in chronological order (or in the case of the movie, reversed?)”. But then, my mind would just be as messed up, asking myself why Rob had figured everything out already at the beginning of the movie😊 10/10, my favorite Nolan movie.

I believe this Trinity...she is definitely not toxic... First saw this movie in college and immediately watched it again - more twists and turns than a corn maze. I think the only other movie I've done that with is Inception, not surprisingly also Christopher Nolan. It takes about half the film to figure out that the black and white scenes move forward, the color scenes move backwards and they meet up at the end (with the final b&w scene fading to color).

Love, love this movie. So original which doesn’t happen much anymore. Love it and the reactions!! Thank you for picking it. Nice to see these types of thinking films. 👍🏻

I commented on the poll with my hopes that this would be a R&T Pick, and I am so happy I got my wish. When I was choosing what to vote for, this was an absolute slamdunk. Although I don't rewatch it regularly, each viewing brings to light a detail that I missed or a new understanding of one of the character's perspective. Absolutely masterful cinema. Really loved this reaction and it was everything I hoped it would be!

I absolutely agree with you. That is why I generally prefer watching movies alone, or as I found with Rob & Trin, because they pay attention. Too often when I watched with others there was constant "What did they say?" Or, "Why did they do that?" etc. Well if you were paying attention they just explained it not two minutes ago! I sincerely believe they are watching the movie, but their mind is thinking of something else as their attention span has diminished. Just like the Sixth Sense. If you are paying attention to all the details you know what is really going on early in the movie.

I miss this mind bending plots, even now, after watching it so many times, I keep finding new details. Or missing and refinding them.. just 🤌💋

This was a first time watch for me. Such a fun ride with you two!

I'm actually fully on Natalie's side. When Leonard pulled up in her boyfriend's car, wearing his clothes... she knew that he had done something to him. Then she found out his memory lapses are real. So her drug dealing boyfriend is missing (dead) with $200k missing... and his drug dealing partner, Dodd, is breathing down her neck. She was purposely goading Lenny to get him to hit her... so she could get him to take care of Dodd. She was stuck in an escalating situation... partly of Leonard's doing... and doing what she could to save her own skin. Afterwards, she still helped Leonard... so I think she did care. I don't blame her for taking her best chance to get rid of Dodd, after Lenny got rid of her Jimmy. It was a smart move.
