Kale

Pretty sure they already reacted to this, it should be in the movie catalogue.

Angelina Sargent

John Q- 2002 I would have said No Escape- 2015 again... but people keep claiming its not considered a drama... But if you look up no escape it says it's Genres are...Action, Thriller, Short, Drama, Disaster, Suspense Release date: August 26, 2015 (USA) So I'm going to go with John Q cause Holy cow is that movie amazing as well and definitely a drama.

Lui

So they have! My mistake.

MaggieS61

I’m guessing the same thing. The word masterpiece is thrown around too much, but this film is truly a masterpiece.

Anatol

"Try and get some MOVIE suggestions with at least 1 of the genres listed above" ;)

Anatol

Great movie that I haven't seen in many years - got my like and my vote in the polls. :)

Jan T

Anatol, could we please keep to movies that are predominantly Drama or True Stories. 🙏🏻 If a movie on IMDB has Drama listed in the first couple of categories, okay. But if it has drama listed 7th or 8th after Action, Sci Fi, etc that doesn’t make it a Drama, it means it’s an Action movie with some dramatic elements. IMDB try’s to list every element present in a movie in descending order of relevance, but it’s the first couple of definitions that define what category a movie actually is. Even Comedy or SciFi films can have dramatic elements, but that doesn’t make it a drama. Wikipedia gives a better singular definition of what genre a movie actually is.

Uncle George

The negotiator 1998 Sam jackson. Kevin spacey

kimburley

Excellent choice. On my list as well 👍🏻

kimburley

Another great pick!

Jordan Tanner

The Lighthouse (2019) My Pitch: Visually stunning, mythic, claustrophobic, darkly funny, haunting, atmospheric, and anchored by powerhouse performances. Based on lighthouse keepers in the 1800s. Genre: Drama, Mystery Director: Robert Eggers (Nosferatu, The Witch, The Northman).

Jordan Tanner

IMDB is sort of bad for this. Letterboxd is probably better.

aleidascope

Would love to see this one.

Jordan Tanner

I still feel like this is nearly impossible to react to with constant lyrics.

kimburley

Excellent movie!

Abby

Adrift (2018) Drama and True Story

Ryan Ward

Chernobyl Series

Gabriel

True Story (2015) With Hill and Franco

Anatol

I don't make the rules, I only enforce them. 😉 If R&T say that "Drama" has to be in the first (let's assume) four genres on IMDb, I can check that manually. Currently, I'm heavily relying on AI to give me a list with usually three genres per suggestion, and I only check it on IMDb if the requirement isn't met with those three genres.

Jan T

Sorry, but giving the option of 3 different genres is too broad. Almost any movie can be made to fit. That’s why genre months never work properly in this group. 🤕 Also Wikipedia is a better source to define what genre a movie actually is. IMDB lists every element present in a movie in descending order of relevance. Any movie can have an element of drama in it, but if drama is 7th or 8th on the list it’s not overall a Drama. (Insults incoming, but won’t be responded to)

Anatol

@Jordan: On the other hand IMDb has maybe 4 or 6 genres listed, Letterboxd often has like 10 or even 20...

Anatol

I also prefer decades over genres… it's easier to sort out suggestions that don't fit. ;)

Anatol

"Try and get some MOVIE suggestions with at least 1 of the genres listed above" ;) Great show tho, has been recommended many times on Discord. :)

Anatol

🙈 (For two reasons...)

Jan T

It’s a great film, with a brilliant cast, but it will never get a chance in this group, I’m afraid. 😕

Maggie B

Kingdom of Heaven

Linda Cannarsa

Unbreakable M Night Shyamalan, Bruce Willis, better than 6th sense. Will keep suggesting this at every opportunity.

Em Connor

The Road (2009) with Viggo Mortenson

Jan T

How about a Best Film/Best Actor/Actress Academy Award winning film month?

Kale

Master and Commander: Far Side of the World

Jan T

That’s why Wikipedia is better. 🙂

Cindy

I was going to suggest as well. I wish I could sit here for hours just giving it some love

MaggieS61

I like the idea of decades. This group tends to vote almost exclusively for films made after 2000. Would be nice to see some of the great films from the 70’s, 80’s, or (heaven forbid) even earlier.

Cindy

Based on a Pulitzer Prize winning book. I wrote my Master's Thesis on that book. So love your suggestion.

MaggieS61

Excellent ensemble cast.

Cindy

The Post 2017

Anatol

Will keep ❤ing this at every opportunity... ;)

Jack

The Life of Pi (2012)

Octavia

Agree... the category should be Historical / True stories. Throwing Drama in is like an open field... because almost every movie that is not a comedy could be considered a drama. Pretty sure we have made this point before... but it keeps happening.

Waamiq Ali

Pain and Gain (2013)

HappyFunJenn

I would also love, Children of Men

Octavia

Jan T

I’ve already suggested Spotlight. But maybe next time.

Nina

that's a great one as well ❤

Reavezz, My guess is it’s from Lost but I could be wrong.

Kelby Farley

I've been hoping to see them react to American History X someday. Might be a bit dark for them, but it's a powerful movie nonetheless.

kimburley

kimburley

This is one of my most favorite Terry Gilliam’s (Monty Python) films. Acting A+, Film A+, Director and Photographer A+…yes all. Super film with a heart. ❤️

HappyFunJenn

That’s why I wrote, I would also love to see it. No rules against recommending something already suggested, right?

WhatRabbitHole?

This has already been suggested so it may get canceled out.

WhatRabbitHole?

I remember Rob commenting during their reaction to The Incredible Hulk, saying something to the affect that Edward Norton was "plain Jane", sort of unremarkable, I guess. I remember thinking "They need to watch American History X (his first Oscar nomination) or Primal Fear ( second Oscar nomination) or Fight Club, etc, etc. American History X is a brilliant movie.

Katie I

So strange I’ve never heard of it but thought I knew most of his work 🤦🏼‍♀️ So thank you, will definitely be watching this!

WhatRabbitHole?

I think if they're going to do multiple genres, people should get one vote per genre. I think better still to do one genre at a time. They could still do more than one genre per month.

Michelle

This movie made me uncomfortable when I saw it. There were parts that were so good, but the angelic imagery used around Hanks' character was ... I'm not sure what to call it. Like, "see how incredible he is?", when NO ONE deserves the way he was treated, not just the incredible... I'm not saying this well. I'm not saying it want a good movie, just that I wished they'd have treated him as a person, not as an icon.

James

One of the best movies Robin Williams ever made. I've never been so happy and so sad in the same movie...

James

GREAT movie... Brilliant soundtrack.

trlb

Black Mass

MarySoul

@Ninaofthe90s in your name 🙂 A FEW GOOD MEN, because they CAN handle the truth!
