How are we at the final 2 episodes already? This has absolutely flown in

so my thought with the other kid Spencer killed is that he planned to kill his son to punish his wife for cheating on him (for 14 yrs so sounds like he doesn't believe Nicky is his kid I'm pretty sure which prob makes it "easier" for him to do), but like just kidnapping and killing his own kid paints a big spotlight, so he killed the judge's kid in order to frame the cartel, which just brings it to an even more horrid darkness. like not only are you taking your rage out on your own family, but you're bringing an entirely other family into your sick issues?? I'm so glad that they did this Brian storyline. Like it wasn't really necessary, but I actually thinks it makes so much sense, especially considering how obsessed Brian was with connecting with Dexter in s1. For him to wait so long to try almost didn't make much sense, but now they've given us a reason. The actor is so convincing as well and I love the explanation of why Harry didn't try to help Brian. It always kinda bothered me in the main show because there *was* no explanation for it and he too was just a traumatized kid. Brian I do think had some darkness in him prior to the incident with Laura (as shown from the lizards), but now the "it got into him too deep" thing makes a lot more sense and I don't think Harry was necessarily wrong for his choice. They didn't have the capacity to help Brian how he needed to & he was trying to protect Dexter who wouldn't remember that or remember Brian because he was so young. Unfortunately for Brian, he was old enough to remember, old enough to remember his little brother & that just made him worse because he was snatched away from the only family he had after losing his mother horrifically. I can't *really* blame him for wanting Dexter in his life but it was just a mixture of awful situations that led to everything that happens in the future.

Brian body was found, Dexter staged it so it looked like a suicide. They found out the name Brian moser after they tested his DNA in the system. No one but Deb knew Brian was his brother. Getting an entire ice truck killer prequel was really entertaining, this entire show gives the early seasons so much more context and meaning.

I really, really have enjoyed this series. But they are converging the timelines too much for the sake of fan service... in ways that just don't add up. All these things didn't take place at this one point in time. Dexter never worked with Harry, etc... When Dexter took out Juan Ryness... 3 days before Harry died (Harry walked in on him)... He had long hair. He wasn't working for Miami Metro. In fact, Harry had taken Dex & Deb to a Ryness crime scene, where they had to wait in Harry's car. This is a fun series, but they are really compressing the timeline.

Octavia

Yeah... the DC Sniper attacks back in 2002 in the US, killed 10 people over a 3 week period... the sniper later confessed that he did all that to cover up his plan to make his ex-wife one of the victims. So he wouldn't be suspected. (Overkill though.) That's exactly why Spencer started with the Judge's son. To reframe the crime. Still makes zero sense to take out the boy he loved as his son, over his ex though.

They can easily work around it if they end up showing the scene that leads to Harry suicide where his hair has regrown, I know it’s a small thing but it’s do-able and as for Dexter not working for Miami Metro, we never really got full context to what was actually going on in Dexter’s life work wise etc. The flashbacks never went in depth with that kinda stuff

Dylan Prince

In his own twisted way he’s doing it to punish his ex wife like he said and in the finale there was some dialogue where he had also clearly convinced himself that biologically Nicky wasn’t his kid so I think that played into it too

Octavia

It not enough to lessen my enjoyment... but I think it's absolutely a stretch to believe Dexter was working at Miami Metro at this time. It's completely incongruent with the original show. The scene where James Remar-Harry makes Deb & Dex stay in the car at the Ryness hooker crime scene is pretty clear. But that's okay... I just think of it as a sort separate thing / timeline.
