N-TRANSITION FOR ABLETON LIVE 11.2.7 IS HERE

N-TRANSITION is a multi-fx transition rack with an incredibly fast and easy to use workflow!

Using filters, reverbs and other effects to transitions elements in your songs used to be a bit of hassle. You would have to load up the effects you want, automate them individually or map them to a macro with pre-set min/max values and then disable/enable the effects when needed due to phase issues.

N-TRANSITION tries to make this process as easy as possible by offering 7 different types of transition fx which are all automatable by the main TRANSITION macro.

There are also NO phase issues when the TRANSITION macro is set to 0%, making it incredibly fast and easy to use as you do NOT have to disable/enable the rack when needed for transitioning!

This is how the system works:

Any of the 8 FX TYPE macros start from 0%. Whatever percentage you give any of the given macros will be the max amount that the TRANSITION will automate to!

This way you only have to automate the main TRANSITION macro without having to automate any of the other parameters! You can of course automate them if needed!

Setting the main Transition macro to 0% will cleverly return to a DRY state, causing no phasing issues and allowing you to not have to disable or enable the rack when needed!

You can access the individual maximum values by clicking on the M button above the TRANSITION macro! This will open up the Macro Mappings menu with all 8 FX mappings and their respective min/max value settings!

FEATURES:

  • TRANSITION: This automates all the given FX TYPEs to their max %.
  • HP: Sets the max Cutoff for the transparent highpass filter.
  • LP: Sets the max Cutoff for the transparent lowpass filter.
  • REVERB: Sets the max DRY/WET for the reverb.
  • DELAY: Sets the max DRY/WET for the delay. (Delay is set to 1/4 PINGPONG. Rack can be opened and delay can be adjusted!)
  • SHIFT: Sets the max positive frequency shift amount. This will also effectively highpass the sound due to how frequency shifters work.
  • VOL LFO: Sets the max volume lfo amount.
  • PHASE LFO: Sets the max phasing lfo amount.
  • LFO SPEED: Sets the max LFO speed for both VOL LFO and PHASE LFO.

(Updated: Now works without the m4l device "Map8"! The device was deprecated and caused numerous bugs)

This is very cool :) Great stuff as always. I was wondering if it was possible to avoid having to go into macros and just use the main racks macro knobs and sure enough this is possible by using multiple Snap Heaps and just modulating the amount of transitions on Snap Heap's macros. Recreated this rack with Snap Heaps so now I only use the main racks macros and can modulate more parameters easily by using all 16 macro knobs :)

Hey! That's how this rack initially worked! :) Unfortunately the max4live that i used was super buggy and outdated, which caused it to either stop working, not save when the project was saved or have latency issues! I've since removed it and set it up so that you can choose the FX you want transitioned to via the mapping system of the rack. This is somewhat limiting and i might do a snap heap version of this aswell! Ty for the insight!

Yo love the content Nasko! Having trouble selecting the individual macros to select a transition type. The only macro I can move/automate is the transition knob. In the Ableton status bar it says when attempting to change the fx type macros "This parameter is controlled by the Marco Control "transition: of the enclosing rack
