lol I haven’t watched this, I watched the first one along with you and that was enough. I watched the end for your thoughts, glad I didn’t waste three hours! Are there more avatar movies?? Hope not. Btw I love your constant ragging on stranger things I always giggle. I love seasons 1&2 and then they just drop way off for me after that. It always cracks me up. I get what you’re saying re being honest/not honest with reactions bc you’re right, most people aren’t going to watch something they don’t like (like me, here, with this movie which I assume I wouldn’t like) and people love introducing others to something they really like and getting a positive reaction which is kinda what watching reactions channels feel like to a degree. Anyway. Looking forward to hopefully another movie I’ll enjoy along with you/enjoy but giggle at your irritation with it lol

It’s briefly mentioned in the first meeting between Quaritch and the commander that earth is dying and they’re trying to establish Pandora as a new home for humans. They want Jake because he’s interfering with their plans

Tomasina

I saw this in theatres and all I can say is it was a great nap

AllyBoo124

I actually lowkey agree about the new CGI, it’s very like smooth and the old one had more imperfections but I think that made it more real looking actually. So it is technically better but it feels less realistic

AllyBoo124

Also Jake says in the beginning that Navi sounds like English to him now, so when he’s with his family and like other tribes assume he’s speaking Navi and it’s just translated (it helps explain some of the dialogue and why they say things like great mother instead of eywa and other little linguistic nuances)

AllyBoo124

So unrelated I can’t wait for you to get into the godfather movies

AllyBoo124

You’re very right that this is “so made up” but this is why I love it so much

AllyBoo124

20:18 spoiler for the book the Book Thief, it takes place during World War Two when Jesse Owen’s won the Olympics and one of the main characters covers himself in soot to make his skin black and then like wins a foot race after school💀

AllyBoo124

Ikrans will only fly with one hunter after they’re bonded, so toruk will only fly with Jake for the rest of his life

AllyBoo124

Someone mentioned but they said it in passing with the on world commander, they want to terra form pandora to basically colonize the planet because earth is dying and the humans need a new home. Jake is messing up their plans and ability to build and expand

AllyBoo124

Jake is still toruk he’s just not chief anymore

AllyBoo124

Idk if you noticed but they make jokes about them having four fingers but neteyam had three like a true born Navi, out of all the kids he looks like the most real Navi

Offred84

I feel you. It wasn't great and too long

Ciana

This is definitely the weakest movie. Im excited for u to get to the next one, the new Navi clan introduced is the best part of the movie imo

Ciana

Also Im interested to see how feel about the pacing of the next movie, i thought there was a lot more happening especially in the first half.

I fell asleep trying to watch this in theaters the first time, around the point sully's kid was meeting his whale bro and I literally drifted off to the thought of "wow this scene just keeps going"

AllyBoo124

I think the memory tree is helpful in the fact that you can know part of them lives on somewhere, I definitely think it would make it hard to move on because you wouldn’t want to leave them. But at least you know that they are also with other family members and if you ever really need to you can go and see them

AllyBoo124

I’ve been screaming about how they make it seem that traditional feminine qualities can’t be strong, women can be have both things and this movie does a good job with their female characters not having to sacrifice their femininity to still be considered strong and also be warriors

AllyBoo124

No literally Jake is a marine raising his kids during a time of war, I was not surprised at all by them using the military jargon

AllyBoo124

I appreciate you being honest, hearing other opinions and having fun movie debates is part of the fun!!!

I think that the point of the 2nd and 3rd movies were to expand the world building and show different clans and I actually enjoyed it HOWEVER I will say that Jake does lack character development. He always has to learn the hard way. Neyteri wanted to stay and fight to begin with and he uprooted her from her clan and moved the whole family instead of listening... just to come to the same conclusion at the end? Especially since the plot of the first movie was him trying to get them to run and then deciding that it was better to stay and help them fight instead. How many times does he need to learn the same lesson? Same with her telling him this is a family and not a squad. Yes, they're at war but he still needs to be a father as well as a leader. His son was injured and bleeding and he's too busy lecturing instead of getting him medical attention. Yes, he has to correct their behavior but he need to take care of their mental wellbeing too. You dont see him interact with them outside of him scolding them or talking about a mission. He doesnt actually talk to them. It took the death of a child for him to finally tell the other one that he sees him.

Lmaoooo I almost fell asleep watching this in theatres when it came out. This and the 2nd Fantastic Beasts movie were prob the worst cinema experience I've had
