There's been some great foreshadowing for this episode - in the Pompeii episode, the soothsayer said to Donna 'there's something on your back'!

Bad Wolf is used here more of a warning and a message to tell the doctor it's from her (also just a neat bit of fan service ofc). This is such a great episode, and the next two episodes are amazing (avengers level)

Also on Rose, this is her 2 years after the events of Doomsday. She had been working at the Torchwood Institute in the other universe, and once you get around to watching the spin off you'll see why she might be a lot darker/mature now with what they have to deal with haha!

I've always thought it would be funny to have a cut of Midnight with a little square in the bottom corner showing what Donna was up to during the episode - just treating herself in a spa while shit goes down on the horror truck - and a cut of this episode with a little square showing what the Doctor was up to during all this - having fun, gadding about the market, trying new snacks, buying little trinkets - while Donna's having her life traumatically rewritten and the walls of the universe break down and Rose returns...
