Nick! The manga is a much better way to enjoy One Piece, but you should also know that you’re approaching the Arlong Park arc and that is where most people get fully on board! (Also, skip the filler arcs!) btw, there is a version called “One Pace” which fixed the pacing for the early arcs but is still animated!

244 pieces 💔😭

The Chainsaw Man movie is covering the Reze storyline, which makes a lot of sense since it's a pitstop before the insanity of the 2nd half of the first arc. They can jump right into that for season 2.

Like Matt my only exposure to gundam was listening to Heather talking about it on this show. I just happened to be in japan the last week the moving gundam was active and even though I don't have a connection with the show found it such an staggering achievement and just a blow out to see in person. Hoping it can find a home in a museum or something.

I just want to say that I’m with Nick - bad smells -*are* really unpleasant. These are the kind of brave takes we need right now!

Hey y'all I love listening to your show around the house, thanks for introducing me to Solo Levelling which I otherwise would have dismissed as just another My Crush Is A Level 1 Bard But I'm The Final Dungeon Boss, Carcanos Lord Of Death. I work for a labour union in regional Australia (huge congrats on your recent SAG wins) and I am current on all 1100 Pieces. I am now 90 episodes into Naruto and excited to continue a story from my childhood that I never finished. Nick, it took around 2 years for me to catch up on all of One Piece. I truly love it and don't regret it, but I wish I followed my friends recommendation to start with the manga. My suggestion would be to check out how the animation quality improves every now and then. The Marineford Arc (ep457-), and The Wano Arc (ep890-) are good jumping on points depending on how you go - enjoy!

Wow, I can’t believe we are already heading towards the end of Solo Leveling. I am so glad Korean manhwa have been gathering interest to have anime adaptations. I’m currently reading one called Teenage Mercenary, that is basically Rambo returns from war to be a High Schooler and he deals with bullies, gangsters, and scumbag elites. Highly recommended.

I did what Nick is suggesting he may do with One Piece: read the manga and watched mostly the canon episodes (and sometimes even skipped through slower canon eps). I had an amazing time with it. But as others here have said, the (very soon) upcoming Arlong Park arc may help guide your decision.

Nick you have to treat One Piece like a Saturday morning cartoon, not in the sense that you watch one every Saturday because that would take about a decade to do, but in the sense that no one ever watched Tom and Jerry to find out what happens next. One Piece is a journey, you just have to watch and enjoy and invariably you'll 'catch up'. On episode 832 myself, took me a couple years, took a couple breaks, loved every minute.

I think I've only seen a single episode of One Piece. I was an early subscription to shonen jump monthly. I'd get the issue and immediately share it around all my friends at school and we would talk about all the new chapters of the included manga. One Piece was by and far my favorite. After a year they announce the anime in the US and I tuned in for the premiere of the anime of my favorite manga. I was devastated. I hated the voice acting, the pacing, the animation. All of it fell short of what I wanted for my favorite manga. I continued to love and enjoy the manga. Unfortunately i fell way behind due to financial reasons and didnt read it for almost 10 years. Last few years ive been reading it again and now own about 40 volumes of the manga and it continues to be amazing. Maybe 34 year old me can handle the anime better than 14 year old me. But I have little desire to try it because of that sour first experience. I have a long ways yet to catch up reading but I'm looking forward to it! As for listening to the podcast at work. I work at a warehouse for a manufacturing industrial supplier picking orders for customers. Basic boring stuff and the podcast help immensely in keeping me sane! So thank you!

Hey Gang! If you had a virtual inventory system - what typically inaccessible items would you store in there so that you could use them throughout the day?

There's some good eye work in episode nine, from Taeshik's red poisoned one to Jinwoo's cold white killer eyes. I'd love to hear what are some of y'alls favourite or best anime eyes.

Cody B

My "favorite" part of the episode was when Matt and Nick talked about Criss Angel and Shaq for a LONG time while HAC was doing the synopsis.

Kevin Ela

Remember when Shaq threw some dude over a house?

Michael Pemulis

I know this is frowned upon, but I watched ahead, in Cheers, and, spoiler alert, Sam's bald.

Rin Manzano

An anime that gets me pumped up is Food Wars. That anime humorously treats cooking with the same intensity like how Blue Lock treats soccer. If you YouTube “Food Wars Battle Scenes”, you can get very entertained by nearly all the videos.

I know there has been some Frieren talk on the show, but I don’t think you guys have mentioned The Apothecary Diaries, which was a runner up to Frieren popularity-wise, but in my opinion was a much better show. It’s part House-style medical mysteries, part Downtown Abbey–style upstairs-downstairs drama, part Game of Thrones-style palace intrigue and unflinching realness, set in a fictional imperial China. It’s about a poison-obsessed apothecary who is kidnapped and sold into indentured servitude at the Rear Palace, where the emperor's concubines live along with servants and eunuchs. Much of it also takes place at the brothel where she was raised as a servant, and you get to know the madam and her courtesan “sisters”. For a show often about sex work, it isn’t lewd or prudish, and some rough stuff happens, but it isn’t bleak. Also, the protagonist MaoMao fucking rules. It’s straight-up “prestige TV”, best new show I’ve seen since Severance. The first season just ended, and I just wanted to get it on everyone’s radar if you missed it. It’s on Crunchyroll.

I think you guys misunderstood the father who paid Taeshik part. They say that he turned himself in, he wasn't just found and arrested. Also in the manwha they make it clear that the father turned himself in even before Song and his party reported Taeshik's murders. It's clear that he wanted revenge but also knew that Taeshik needed to be stopped too, it just so happens that Sung Jinwoo got to him first.

This whole series I oscillated between "how could Nick betray us like that?" and "I could just watch one ahead...." I'm glad to say I resisted temptation so I could faithfully watch alongside my parasocial friends Matt and Heather. I'm impressed Nick had the self-control not to spoil anything because I think I definitely would have let the cat out of the bag. I'm such a big fan of you three and I love listening to this show and Get Played on the way to teach my third graders. I can't wait to hear what we are watching next! Kaiju no 8??? PS: Xmen97 is hot as hell 🔥

On the Topic of X-Men, to answer Nicks question about a mutant with perception powers. There is one named Eyeboy who is a real chill fun character and he can has special vision that lets him see basically any kinda of special vision you can think of. the draw back being that he is covered head to toe in eyes. If you havn't read any of the Krakoa Era X-Men. the comics have been really fantastic in this current arc and it will be coming to close this year.

I just came home from the Thundercat concert and before he even got on stage they played "hajimari eno touhi" from end of eva as his intro. he also said that hes currently watching Solo Levelling! He gave a tribute to akira toriyama and the song that was played right after the concert was hedgehogs dilemma from eva. the entire concert felt like watching an anime ❤❤

J-Train

I love the ranking system in anime and would love to see it applied to other professions or hobbies. Lebron James S rank basketball player? Kevin James B rank comedian? The possibilities are endless.

I just got back from 2 weeks in Japan, where I used my downtime on trains and planes to catch up on The Pod. I saw the Giant Gundam in Yokohama days before it closed based on Heather's recommendation. It was very cool, but sadly it was too windy that day for it to move. :(
