I started watching it today because you guys mentioned it talks about football, my favorite sport. And I'm from Argentina too, so I was expecting them mentioning Messi, which happens right away on the first episode! It's interesting that there's a Japanese player that actually studied the game and sport science to be better, currently playing in England. His name is Kaoru Mitoma. I thought about him too while watching the first episode

I would love to know which Gundam series are Heathers' favorites! Did Zeta live up to the hype? Is ZZ as bad as its reputation suggests?

Dan Photoman

I don't watch soccer, but I jumped up and shouted when Team Z scored their first point.

I wasn’t sure if I was on board after episodes 1 and 2 but, much like Heather, 3 and 4 hooked me. The animation turned me off at first, in particular the shading with lines. I don’t know if it got cooler or I just got used to it, but I’m now loving the animation. I love the visualizations of presences that the MC sees on the pitch.

I did not think this show would be my jam and then I watched 16 episodes in one sitting. My only critique? Pretty gay but should be gayer 🤷

This show is friggin dope!

Kevin Ela

Dumb show! This is not a positive or negative comment. Don’t think it’s for me.

Nathan Maidlow

I love saying the phrase BLUE LOCK! It is a more beautiful combination of words than CELLAR DOOR

This show is like the mean brother of the widely popular (in the rest of the world, at least) Captain Tsubasa, which had some ridiculously impossible moves and would sometimes spend half an episode on a flashback while the ball was on the air toward a character. The show had some obligatory SNES games that mirror the structure of the show, so of course it was like an RPG https://youtu.be/bqhCiQWUB8c?t=252 I should also mention that a lot of current soccer stars grew up and are fans of it https://www.aljazeera.com/sports/2022/10/3/who-is-captain-tsubasa-a-hero-for-spanish-footballers

Idk if Nick’s criticism of a match being more than 1 episode is correct(valid?). The matches in a sports anime are the parts you’re supposed to want to last a long time. The last match of the Haikyuu anime was like 8+ episodes long and it didn’t weigh the show down in any way

Joshua Kennedy

S3 of Haikyuu! is one volleyball match and it's one of the best seasons of anime ever.
