Hey! I’ve been really enjoying the show and a nice change of pace from the anime’s I do watch. At first I didn’t think I would be that interested but after each episode, I was like ok this is good! From these episodes definitely really liking some of the characters from Z and once they start going it’s really going to suck lol

Damn this show rules. It gets better with every episode! I don’t have the restraint to only watch two episodes per week and am currently 12 episodes in. I’m curious how they’ll prolong the premise over multiple seasons (assuming we get multiple seasons), but I’m going to trust that the show will continue to rule.

Hi Heather and Matt, and also Nick. I am new to anime; I started watching because you guys forced me to. Coming to Blue Lock shortly after Chainsaw Man is kind of a shock. The pacing of Chainsaw Man was frenetic, perhaps psychotic, but I loved it. It seems Blue Lock is going to take its time and drip out story slowly. Do you guys have a preference when it comes to pacing? Does your opinion change based on the themes/stated goals of the story itself?

This exercise in borderline eugenics and cutthroat game theory is no reason to not give them orange slices at halftime.

Hey it’s me, the Dub Defender. I got like 5 minutes into the dub for Blue Lock and switches to subs - it’s pretty rough. I still recommend taking a quick listen to some of the CSM dub voices, particularly Makima and Power. That dub is very high quality. This rocks so far! In addition to the super kinetic action sequences, I think the sound design is really top notch. From the explosion of one of Barou's 25 meter kicks to the satisfyingly synthetic mid-episode bumper sound, I love cranking up the volume when I watch this on Sunday mornings

Ego looks like Mandark from Dexter's Laboratory all grown up!

I hope there’s more to the story than what we’ve been presented so far. Finding it hard to care about the stakes at present.

I know Heather is already on board, but the gang's reactions to Blue Lock are further proving to me that Matt and Nick (ESPECIALLY Nick) need to watch Kuroko's Basketball. It's the exact same battle-shonen-disguised-as-sports-anime vibe, but focused on a sport Wiger cares about.

I feel like the only great sports anime is Haikyuu. Bluelock is entertaining but it’s very much one of these shows. Y’all should watch Ranking of Kings over any other anime

I’m a huge fan of Haikyu (volleyball anime) and I really like how thus far, Blue Lock is inverting the typical shonen tropes. These characters have to learn to work as a team in spite of the fact that they’re being pushed to operate as individuals, whereas normally the characters would be selfish and their mentors would be urging them to think as a team. This tension gives the relationships and character growth a lot more weight (especially given some of the things that happen in episodes 5+6) Also, recommendation for Heather! The anime Hi Score Girl is a fun slice of life story that uses actual characters and gameplay from arcade games like Street Fighter 2, Darkstalkers, and Virtua Fighter. The main characters is even a kid who chooses to buy a Sega Saturn over a PlayStation.

Matt is a very handsome and special guy. Hello all… I have really been enjoying the striker with the dribbling weapon, both in their animation and how the character is… This question is mostly directed at Heather, but I guess I want the boys’ opinions too. Do you often find yourself having a favorite character in the anime that you watch, and do you gravitate to a character type or could it be anyone? Edge!

It is incredibly funny to me that Wiger's favorite character (Monk guy) is the most hated character in the Blue Lock fandom
