I know you guys keep talking about how this is a fighting show and isn't actually about sports, but the longer it goes the more convinced I am the people who make it love IRL soccer so much. Some of the stuff about ghosting in behind a defender or Ego's explanation of why past stars didn't make it is so spot on. It's so specific and in the weeds for soccer nerds. It's like slipping the Akira bike slide in, but for sportos!

I love how cut throat Isagi gets in these episodes. His ego gets pushed to full blast, ya love to see it. Seeing other characters evolve to keep moving forward is so F'n cool! If your talents don't evolve you're fuckin out!

Like Nick, I’m primarily an NBA fan. I feel like Isagi’s archetype reminds me so much of Chris Paul. As a wrestling fan, Nagi reminds me of Orange Cassidy. Are there any real life people the characters remind you of?

When Ego is describing the plight of the "domestic genius" one of those silhouettes is wearing his glasses. Is it possible Ego isn't just a stats nerd, but a former genius whose had a fall from grace? And if that's the case could he be trying to make a striker capable of destroying his rival?

I love how real this show is to life. My friends and I always hang out in bath houses, get nude, and then challenge each other to different sport games all the time! And we stay for a while-we don't just set and time/date for the game- we linger and soak in the communal bath like real bros. Sometimes we fight, but hey, that's life.

I’m really enjoying Blue Lock, I think it’s the football anime I enjoyed the most since Captain Tsubasa. Which kinda leads me to my question, not really connected with both of these episodes (which were awesome). As any of you guys ever watched Captain Tsubasa? It was huge in Europe (I’m Portuguese) and it’s also very popular in Japan. Blue Lock draws a lot of inspiration from it, the Wanima brothers are a less crazier version of the Tachibana brothers.
