Who here hasn’t fantasized about a world ending event that prevents you from going to work? That’s the dream right there.

Zom 100 is a fantastic show, but episode 4 (I think? It was the one at the mall) was so depressing to me that I couldn’t watch any more. Thankfully I googled “Dog” afterwards and that helped

Re: Chainsaw Man, I was trying to pinpoint what the last issue Matt read was exactly, because the recent 3 or so have kind of kicked things up a few notches!

Two more thoughts: 1. I put this show on in the background, not expecting much of it, and it was much more pleasant and fun than I expected, and the dub was surprisingly good! 2. The talk about long-running series running out of steam got me thinking about One Piece, of course, and how miraculous that is as a narrative. I’ve read 750 chapters of it so far this year and there’s not even a hint of a quality dip. I can’t think of any narrative *anything* of comparable length that can say that.

So pleased you guys talked about Odd Taxi. That show RULES

The Spy X Family S2 opening Nick discussed is directed by Masaaki Yuasa, who also directed the Ping Pong The Animation series Yusong brought up, as some nice synergy. He’s up there for me as one of my favourite modern anime directors, I love his animation style and the range of subject matter for his shows, from Tatami Galaxy to Devilman Crybaby. I believe he directed an ep or too of Adventure Time back during its run, which was fun to see, and cool that a western series brought him and allowed him an apparent good amount of creative freedom, as his style was all over his ep.

Blue Giant has just been announced for a 2024 UK cinema release, finally. Was already intrigued but Nick and Yusong talking it up got me even more excited for it. I’d definitely recommend Kids On The Slope, which was a great series about Jazz set in the 60’s, directed by Shinichiro Watanabe and music by Yoko Kanno, reuniting the director-composer pair of Cowboy Bebop. I still go back and rewatch some of the performance scenes a decade or so on. I believe they were also rotoscoped.
