Hello patrons!

Today we're trying a new patron-only video. This is the After Show for the shoe box collection video. Basically, it's a chilled chat with me, with a behind the scenes look at the latest video. How it came about, which games didn't make the cut etc. And I answer some questions from the comments.

Please click the like button if you'd like to see more videos like this, so I know for the future.

Thanks,

Jon

Really love the format of this video and it would be great to see more of these in future!

Love the idea, but please can these go on YouTube (but unlisted on your channel obviously), so that we can continue to view them on our TVs etc.

Kwibus

I like this idea a lot! This video was very relaxing and even though I really like your scripted stuff and jokes, I also like just listening to you talk candidly for a bit.

Laura Serrano Villar

I enjoyed this video a lot! Its so interesting to know what didn’t make it to the video and all the different considerations , research that went into making the final version of the video

Dave Nattriss

Thanks! This time would be handy too ☺

THIS. This is exactly what I was hoping for from you. You are known for your tight, scripted videos, but because they are so labor intensive I only get my dopamine hit about once a month. So for the price of a cinema ticket I enjoy a short "movie" every 30 days. I loved getting that unexpected notification about a new video from you several days apart. It won't seem quite so long till your next outstanding video. I really enjoy the unscripted patron videos. And I like the BTS aspect. Would love Shelf of Shame, games coming out that you are excited to try, a live game night. So my perspective is some smaller, less formal (and less labor intensive) dopamine hits helps me justify my patronage more than a lanyard or even a newsletter. (Although I am heading to the Origins Convention next weekend and would love to be rocking an Actualol pin to help me connect with other Jon lovers. It just wouldn't justify the printing and mailing expense, though.) Have you thought about merch?

Michael Fischer

Thank you for the Video, I enjoyed it very much. (I like german rules ;-)

For what it's worth, even if the algorithm didn't appreciate it as much as it should've, your shoebox video might be my favorite video you've done yet! Super interesting idea with a great list of recommendations!

Thomas Nicol

Shoebox video is one of my favourites. I am inspired to make a mini collection to keep in my desk drawer at work now.

Will Butler

I really enjoyed this, was like hanging out with you.

Xander Costas

Love this! I’m a newer patron and would love to see more of this. I loved the shoebox video itself as well!

Dutch Themepark Network

I love this concept of you just chatting about games. We would love to see reviews of single games. What do you think of a title and why?

Emma

Tiny Epic Quest is my favourite of the Tiny Epic games that I've tried. I love the theme and the little item meeples, and I often find we're all actively cheering each other on in the night phase to get the dice rolls we want.

Caleb hall

I liked the more personable feel of this of video. It's nice to get to know the man behind the script.

Will Matthews

I like this conversational style! Nice behind the scenes look at the genesis of the video. Though It feels more suited to a podcast than a video.

AGtheOG

I like this. The more candid side of your perspective is refreshing. It's also lovely to hear your take on some of the suggestions you get in the comments. The one thing I'd have liked to add regarding comments for the main video is a question. Is your High Society box not like.... a super tight fit..? I find the biggest challenge of the game is opening it lol. I have the same copy as you, btw

Jie Yu Li

I really loved your shoe box collection video and I wish that it had done better than it did! You have clearly put a lot of thought into it (just by looking at the labor that goes into calculating fundensity lol) Your video also brought me to try Burgle Bros and Fugitive, which my family loves! Also, love to learn about your thought process behind it; awesome members' video :)

Concerning, Scout, perhaps you just aren't playing with the right people or in the right mindset? We usually play when we are just chilling and chatting. Sometimes we get a little competitive, sometimes not. But I actually named my dog "Scout" because I wanted a board game related name for. Then when I looked it up, turns out it is a fairly popular name for German Shepherds!
