Hello to you all,

Today begins a new era for Actualol - after 10 years of doing it on my own - I’m delighted to announce that my wife Serena has joined the team as a producer, to help make more, and better, videos.

Serena has been an integral silent member of the team since the beginning - from reading every script to watching every edit. To designing the backdrops and coming up with video ideas (10 Mistakes, Etiquette Rules).

And she’ll be running things behind the scenes - taking over jobs that I’ve never been good at, so that I can focus on writing and presenting. She has already filmed b-roll for the last Christmas video - no-one noticed her hands instead of mine! So she’ll be taking over that duty. As well as making thumbnails, emailing with publishers, tracking analytics, coordinating sponsors, planning Patreon content… there are so many parts to being a YouTuber that I’ve been juggling, and I’m delighted to share the load.

We’ve been hoping to make this happen for a long time. Five years ago, Serena asked a former boss to switch to 3 days a week, so she could work on Actualol for 2 days a week - but he rejected it. It’s happening now, because Serena has been made redundant from her job, and we’ve decided to see that as an opportunity to try this out, and see if we can make it work financially.

Our main goal is to make more videos for you to watch. On the channel, and on Patreon. We’re very excited for this new chapter. We begin with the next video - coming this week.

Thank you so much for your support that has made this possible.

Actually yours,

Jon and Serena

So sorry she's been made redundant, but very happy that you're making the best of the situation. I hope you find a sustainable balance of responsibilities.

Don’t love how we got here, but … Great news for the channel! Jon, your writing is top shelf. I’m excited you’ll have more time to do it. Looking forward to more vids and ideas!
