March 2022 Update: I have updated the side valve. The screw thread is not as long, and it will now sit on the print bed better. The file is called - S10 side valve V2. I have left the old version up as well. The new version works with the same nut.

Happy New Year all!

In this file drop I will finally be including the S10 side valves and nut.

This file is designed to replace the valve (or speaker box) on an S10 gas mask (it might also work on an FM12).

I will warn you, sometimes removing with out the correct tools the S10 original valve/ speaker unit causes you to break the valve. The correct tools are incredibly hard to find so it's unlikely you will get them. However, if like me you commit to the change I was not that bothered.

Second thing to note, these valves do contain a hole to put the rubber flap/valve on. However it (on my FDM printed valve) does not make the best seal I think you could modify it to work. Maybe putting a bit of hot glue or something similar to seal the cracks and make a nice seal.

Once the old valves have been removed. These are simply pushed in and the nut is used to secure it tightly.

However lets get to the good stuff the pictures :)

Printing these now in metallic gray! Do you happen to know what the kit looks like.. or if there's some assembly diagram out there? Even posting pics of the removed parts would help me understand the removal process. I'm may look into machining the removal kit or something..

Hey, so I can provide a guide on how I would change it. However I do not know how the tool will work though

LatexJess

That would be most helpful!!

Do you have any recommended filament type, infil %, etc.? I'm pretty new to 3d printing and not sure what to use when I slice it in Cura.

KB3D

Hey Hana, sure I Will make a guide :)

KB3D

I’ll make a general guide first, but I will also go across each post and add how I print each one specifically :)

LatexJess

My test prints have been PLA, 0.2mm "Quality" (whatever that means) @ 15% infill. I consider this a middle ground, not really a draft, not super high end, but it's functional. Everything has been good so far so long as you remember to add supports. I have had a minor thread issue on the side valve where the thread is deep enough to hit the outer wall, will mess with settings to see if I can improve that, but it's still totally functional.

Hana Monroe

That's what I was thinking of doing as well! Good to know my instincts are somewhat close to the mark.

Hana Monroe

Oh that would be fantastic thank you!

I have now made a guide, it isn't perfect, however it basically confirms what LatexJess has said. PLA, 0.2mm 15-20% infill (Apart from chastity cages). And you are golden :)

Are you printing this supports everywhere? There's an internal overhang that's been giving me lots of bridging. What's the purpose of that, anyway?

KB3D

So for me, I don’t add supports there. Yes it makes a bit of a rough surface, however it works for me. It forms part of the area which the rubber valve can go. I am working on a new version. Hopefully finished by the end of the year :)

Justin Huff

Ok, cool. Ahh, so you could put the flapper on either side? In this case, it'd allow exhaling .
