Let's be honest: an incredible game with poor user interface or bad overall looks makes a player think the developer(s) are not really interested in their own creation (and sometimes they really aren't!)

I saw many good games ruined with an ugly user interface or poor  images, and I'm not just talking about indies.

Of course this is pretty normal and forgivable when we talk about alpha releases, because the game is still in development and many things are merely placeholders for future upgrades.

So, with each update you will find not only new examinations and new story arcs, but also improvements to the overall look of the game. In 0.0.5 "Clinical Methods" you will find the new Codex, which was introduced in Trip to Seattle and improved again with pictures of characters and items that will remind you about who they are without having to remember them.

Because if I don't believe in what I'm doing, how could you?

It's really nice to see a developer take that attitude. I agree wholeheartedly but it's surprising how often I find developers who not only don't think like that but are also not interested in understanding it. One of the trends I've been seeing a lot of recently that's really bugging me and is right along the lines of what you said, is the lack of any documentation or in game explanation of the game controls. RPG Maker games are notorious for that but at least they are usually pretty much the same so once you "know" it's easy to forget there will be others who don't know yet. But this is extending well beyond just RPG Maker games now and it seems to be new "normal".

I agree. Documentation is very important for me, but I think that comes for being a programmer in my real job (I don't code videogames, "just" accounting software), some things are just natural to me. But writing documentation, record a youtube gameplay video, writing changelogs and also trying to get the game known to many more people is a very time-consuming activity too, so don't be too harsh on indie developers who usually work alone in their free time (like I do) and can't get everything straight from the beginning. The game should always come first of course, but a great game without some smooth edges will have a very hard time finding people that will want to spare some time playing it. That's why the most important thing you can do for me is to spread the word about this game if you like it. The more people will play it the more easier it will for me to concentrate on development and smoothing the edges :D

Since it's more or less on topic. A small improvemet which would make the game a lot more comfortable to play, would be to add a quichsave/quickload function and/or the possibility to load the game without going through the main menu.
