Raven Dark

Aw, crap. I can't.... But I have to... But adulting... No, but... Grrr. Niiiiiick, whyyyyyy? In the last ten minutes, this reaction and another reaction I've been hoping to see on another channel for THREE YEARS showed up in my email at the same time. Between you and them that's FIVE HOURS. Damn reactors. No consideration for people's lack of willpower. :D

Raven Dark

Yep. We all know the tears are because Nick didn't get to see his beloved Dursleys. LOL

Sofía Reyes

Yeeessss! I was waiting for this!!!

Erika

i just started this reaction and had to pause to comment: you guys are so damn cute. i love watching her become so comfortable on camera. i could never do that!! but yeah i thought i loved your channel the most already….but then your girlfriend joined and i’m obsessed!! i wish she watched friends with you!

Raven Dark

And Buffy. Although, it could be a good thing that she isn't there for Buffy, because showing her Buffy would be the perfect reason to do a second reaction to my favorite show. LOL!

When Harry and Voldemorts wands collided it created a reverse spell, so it brought out the last spells that voldemort had performed. The killing of the caretaker, Cedric and Harry's parents were those spells so their spirits appeared. They then helped Harry get away. The tattoo that you see on the arm is the mark of a death eater, it's basically their brand. Voldemort can use it to summon his followers and vice versa. In your reaction to the prisoner of Azkaban you guys talked about not seeing any deaths yet, this movie is when the deaths become more of a thing and you start seeing more of them. Great reactions, can't wait for the next one!

The Quidditch World cup was played between the Irish national team and the Bulgarian national team. (I hated that they didn't show the scene in the movie, because it was an excellent chapter in the books). Ireland won. Krum had caught the Golden Snitch, earning Bulgaria 150 points but Ireland was so far ahead in points, it didn't give Bulgaria the win. Cho Chang (the girl Harry liked) was in Ravenclaw. The reason why Ron was so jealous this year was, well firstly, because of the hormones that come with being a teenager. But it stems from him being the youngest brother, his older brothers all seem very accomplished in their own ways and Ron always felt like he had something to prove. Then he became friends with Harry who is always the special one, once again putting him in the shadow. Priori Incantatum (prior incantation or spell) just reveals the last spells that have been performed by a wand. The last 4 spells revealed themselves as spirits, of sorts, Cedric, the old Caretaker and Harry's parents. (in the book there was one more lady). This happened because both Harry and Voldemort's wands have the same core, a feather from the same Phoenix. If you remember, in the first movie the wandmaker said this to Harry as well, that the brother of Harry's wand gave him that scar. The grave at the end was of the Riddle family, Voldemorts father and his spouse, whom he murdered. The old caretaker was a Muggle who was blamed for the deaths of the family for a while. Voldemorts father was a Muggle. Accio Firebolt (the spell Harry used in the Dragon fight) was a summoning spell. Firebolt is the name of the Broom, Accio is the spell itself. In the book, the other competing schools didn't show up at the start of the schoolyear, but due to time-constraints they cut out a lot of the chapters in between getting to school and that event. I don't know if you guys caught it, but Karkarov named Barty Crouch jr and specified that he tortured Frank Longbottom and his wife. Neville's parents. That's why Neville was so upset in Moody's class. Harry did stay at the Dursleys, it wasn't included in the movie. There's an entire chapter where the Weasleys pick Harry up for the World Cup, which led to hilarious encounters.

I think Dumbledore was afraid Harry would think because he got to talk to a temporary sort of echo of his parents from the Priori Incantatem reversal spell that it would be possible to resurrect them. He wanted him to know that the spell's effect was temporary and they didn't actually come back to life and never will. As you know from the first movie and his time in front of the mirror of erised he really wishes he had his parents.

Liam

Just came back to say how amazing your girlfriend is for clocking Dumbledore's speech about the maze. I've seen this movie so many times and did not get that haha

I was really looking forward to this reaction and you two didn't disappoint! This movie and the 3rd movie are actually for my favorite movie of the whole series. I started reading the books ages before the movies came out. And for me personally, I loved that the earlier movies were faithful to the books and I felt like this movie had a really good blend of book-faithful/movie-adaptation. The first 2 movies had the same director, then a different director for 3, then 4, then 5. Then the same director for 6-8. But the director of Prisoner of Azkaban, Alfonso Cuaron, is my favorite director of the series. (Though Christopher Columbus is phenomenal and also directed Mrs. Doubtfire and Home Alone and Home Alone 2 and wrote The Goonies.) I highly recommend reading (or listening to the audiobooks) for the whole series. Just for time, so much is left out of the movies and it's all so fantastic that it's a shame to miss out. It's a series I read many, many times and was so excited to introduce to my son who has also read it many times now. I have also thoroughly enjoyed the audiobooks. Oh, and the real Mad-Eye never appears until the very end of the movie, locked in his trunk. It's faux-Mad-Eye throughout the whole movie. Also, the reason why Ron was such an idiot over Fleur is because she's not just a human, she's one quarter Veela (Veela are semi-human and very magically seductive). I am excited for the rest of the movies! (But my absolute favorite part was your Snape impression at the very end - more please!!!!!!)

Sofía Reyes

Please, please. Read the book. The laberynth is so much awesome and almost all the doubts have an explanation there.

x_Rhi_x

Pretty sure wyn said she's reading the books

Sofía Reyes

This is awesome! I'm sure she will enjoy it. 😊😊😊

I remember being a young teen (I’m 31 now) and I went to the premier of this movie in theaters with my friends all dressed up. I also remember that it hadn’t come out on dvd yet, (or my parents wouldn’t buy it yet because it was so new, I don’t remember) and for Christmas all of our family would pull a name and get a present for someone. At our Christmas party one of my uncles gave me a bootlegged version of this movie and I remember screaming in excitement, crying, and running downstairs to my room and watching this on my little 8 inch portable dvd player for hours on end. Hahaha so much nostalgia.

Read the books and you will understand the movies.

"It's like a frigging terrorist attack on a festival". Yes Nick. That it EXACTLY what it is.

Prior Incantato was a charm that forced a wand to show an "echo" of the last spell it had performed. Priori Incantatem, otherwise known as the "reverse spell effect", was an especially rare manifestation of this spell that occurred when two wands with the same core (that is, taken from the same animal) attempted to duel each other. The winner's wand forced the loser's wand to produce "echoes" of the most recent spells performed in reverse order. Remember, Voldy hadn't had a physical body since the death of Harrys parents. That means that the curse used to kill them were among the last spells casted by his wand. That's why the shadow of them reappered before Harry, as the last spells reappered. Voldemorts last four spells were all killing curses. Think about that....

Stephen Paynter

I think the fact that Harry reponded to the killing curse with the wand disarming spell is worth reflecting on ... in terms of Harry's character.

„HARRY POTTER DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME INTO THE GOBLET OF FIRE??????“, Dumbledore asked calmly. Possibly one of the most meme-d moment in this movie. In the book Dumbledore is definitely calmer than he is in this movie. But also the stakes are raised and he‘s more worried so I don‘t blame him for seeming less in control. Also, the books especially going forward explain sooooo much that the movies cannot and it will leave you constantly confused.

Snape was much meaner in the books but he never hit the students physically - NEVER. (... i've learned that people who defend this treatment of kids are weirdly the ones who get the most offended when you smack their grown up face ;) Escaping Azkaban is pretty easy once you're good at handling depression. Dementors also can't notice you that much if your emotions are low and they can't hurt you if you shine with positivity as much as a Patronus...... but in Barty Crouch Jr. 's case, the escape from Azkaban was done with help of others, explained in the book. ...Neville's parents were tortured by the Cruciatus Curse and they've lost sanity, they're at a magical hospital but they can't get healed. That is why Neville was so traumatized during the class ... he knows the reason he doesn't live with his parents. Dumbledore never gaslit Harry like this, never told him to forget the dreams. He openly told Harry that they are real events and he was always absolutely honest with Harry.

yeah, the issue is - these stories are WHODUNNITs, detective stories with a twist, with red herrings, and a surprise reveal at the end, and each book drops a lot of clues ... but the movies skip the clues and mess up the reveals often. I'm not a big fan of how confused everyone is at the end of the 3rd movie ... god, I can't get over how they messed up Dumbledore and Ron. like, in this movie, Dumbledore tells Harry to ignore the dreams!!! makes me livid
