I'm too struggled in thinking about the meaning of boobs in history, but it’s not really helping my works. Such philosophy would never align with modern values. I don’t even know what I’ve been drawing lately, which feel like talking past each other.

I reupload what I've drawn today, but I don't want to put context anymore.

Bushlover

You've drawn boobs, draw butts next to make it even

Bushlover

Bush is preferred actually

John Lenovitch

You have been drawing greatness. Draw what makes you happy. What you are passionate about. There will be haters. But they just solidify you’re doing something great

Spoon found in kitchen, Bushlover found in bush

To boob or not to boob—that is the question: Whether ’tis nobler to admire at distance, Or, drawn by gravity and mortal weakness, To ponder form and function intertwined. Soft or defiant, twin orbs of distraction, They wage a silent war ’twixt thought and sense; And thus the mind, o’erthrown by wonder’s swell, Forgets its aim, and calls it philosophy.

Chaoscodex199

Lily, if drawing boobs makes you happy, draw boobs! True fans of art should accept that art is what makes the artist happy and feel accomplished. If you feel good drawing boobs and more, draw boobs and more!

You draw what makes you happy. The ordo mediate and exploration of historical outfits has been wonderful. The now deleted sexualized boobs post really points out some of the really egregious stuff that I think you have otherwise successfully avoided.

beakford

As others have said. Draw what you want and what makes you happy. I would think you have a loyal enough following that would stick around no matter what you draw-- or don't draw. I know I will.

Beauty standards have varied wildly throughout history and different cultures. Just draw what you love and we will continue to support your endeavors. There will always be haters and there will always be fans like us.

Lukas

If you like what you draw and feel it, just continue doing it, negativity will appear anyway, I love your drawings and whole arts, anyway I will support what you doing. And nudity it is a part of art why it should be removed, I don't understand?(rhetorical thought)

SoSo_Tsundere

Sometimes Joy has nipples involved, and sometimes it doesn't. I hope you continue to draw whatever moves you in the moment, and not pay attention to the fickle and hypocritical and ever changing "modern values". That would only constrain you and lessen the art.

Nerd_Power

Classy v Trashy. Classy good, trashy bad. Your stuff is Classy.

Aces High

What's wrong with boobs? We love boobs!

Michael McGuire

do they need meaning? Just appreciate them

Juan E

Flameo, hotman.

Ryan Parker

Sorry that people don't get what you're trying to say.

pseudobody

That kind of interest is really what I find appealing about your art. You talking about your inspirations on the drawing of reisläufer chan you posted the other day really delighted me. I think wanting to pull at those historical ideas that grate against modern ideas of propriety is extremely cool.

How sexualized a woman's chest is depends on time period and culture. There is also a varied factor in how much body shame is associated with breasts. Some cultures it is terrible to show any cleavage but in others (as you have drawn) it was odd to cover up at all. Just just do you and don't worry about trying to appease anybody else. Especially since a person's ideas on boobs are so set in their minds they will never be convinced otherwise.

Kevin Clark

I think its a fascinating topic (even just human secuality througought history in general terms) Dont worry about feeling the need to perform for folk. The people who are interested in what you make are interested and if they aren't for a post, that is ok :)

Servo Kamen

I love what you’ve been posting.

Juan E

We follow you because we love the way you bring your ideas to life. They're truly beautiful. We're patrons, not customers. We want to keep seeing what you'll do next. Don't feel obligated to cater to our every whim.

Art Enjoyer

Draw what you want and what is exciting to you. You will find an audience that is like-minded ❤️

Mr.Leaf

What Art Enjoyer said. Draw, what you like and how you like it. It never stops to amaze me.<3 Everything you draw looks so natural and lovely. Dont think too much of other people's thoughts. Just remember, here are some crazy guys, who love your way of art and will keep supporting you!<3

Seán O'Connor

Do not worry about naysayers. They can never be assuaged or happy. You do you and play by your own fiddle.

Jarl Seamus

We love your characters and your art style. No matter what direction you go, I'll be cheering you on all the way. Your sexy style is playful, not smutty, and your more historical tone is just artistic. For me, I'm drawn to the light heartedness and how just cute they all are. Don't overthink it. You Rock, Lily!

Porabi

I don't know if you read these but if I may humor this a bit You do realize that you're philosophy doesn't have to line with modern views right ? I only say this cause while yes you do show nudity it's never meant for the purpose of being perverted and is instead used for showing beauty or just for showing them as just that , breast on a woman . Like I've even talked with my mother about the little things you have occasionally brought up in you're art which has led to me learning about said things .

TheGael

I’m here to follow you! I want to see what you want to create! This is because what you create captured me and I had to follow. Your take on everything is refreshing

Aaron Hoover

My spouse and I both love your work and your style, and we talk a lot about your elevation of the womanly form beyond merely sexy to something to admire and appreciate. The people who understand what you're up to may be quieter, but I assure you they are out there.

Scott Curtis

I give you my money because you draw beautiful women, boobs, and I get a history lesson to boot! 😜

wiggles

Just to agree with others, my partner and I adore your work. It's pretty, well done and informative. But if it was just one of those things it would still be amazing. You're really talented, my partner and I are here for whatever you do

Henry Walker

Boobs = sex. Yeah, bullshit. This is a modern interpretation which we inherited from our Victorian (era) forebears. Example: in certain periods it was more scandalous to show shoulder than it was to show breasts. There are many cultures to whom toplessness is no big deal, for males or females. Art has a certain allowance when depicting the human body, always has, such images (like the ones you draw Ironlily) are a celebration of the human form, of humanity in its purest sense. We need to create new values, to allow us to see the human body as something beautiful which needs to be depicted in art, even if the moral minority/majority would rather see things in another fashion, enforced by religiosity and social norms. If you want a more detailed idea of my conceptions of this subject: https://historicalsocialpolitical.blogspot.com/2021/09/the-bare-breast.html

Being an artist means putting a piece of yourself out for everyone to see and judge and interpret. Given that artists tend to be very sensitive people, this can be pretty hard. You're not going to please everyone - and this is especially true when it comes to "sensitive" topics like nudity and sex. The key is to do what pleases *you*, not them. That's what makes the artist.

MoldyBuns

Huh? Did something happen? I saw a previous upload about soldiers coming home and getting some boobs and a hug, which i think was really cute and wholesome. Was that part removed? 😢

Panuru

So many people's idea of "having values" these days means "enforcing those values for everyone else." Don't let it get you down. Follow your heart.

AJ Maneville

As someone from the 'older' generation I have seen the meaning given to boobs shift dramatically in my own lifetime, from being something much more rare to what is, now, seemingly almost unavoidable. Once upon a time Hollywood actresses, for example, would be far more careful to guard their image, even trying to deny or hide from early career images of them topless or even nude. Now, it seems, that does not matter, either on a personal or professional level. More humorously, there was a famous book in my day, Alan Clark's 'The Nude: A Study In Ideal Art' in which there were *only* examples of female nudity and *none* of the naked male form whatsoever. My own thoughts are the only 'meanings' are those either projected by society to provide 'context' or belonging to the persons involved. The only thing that matters, in my estimation, is consent. And pertness. If that's your thing.

This image reminds me of once upon a time when I went to an art museum with the armless statues. To me the shapes are art, all of the shapes in nature are art. Our bodies are the medium, our cells the hard at work artists to bring physical form to their vision. You keep on drawing, if it brings you joy and fulfillment and your fans (us) will continue to enjoy and marvel at them . It is a privilege to wake up and see you post whatever you've created or any glimpses into your feelings. And good lord you've been knocking em out of the park 👏 well done

Frank

Many many cultures have a tradition of nudity as protest. Sometimes it's about shame. You take your clothes off to show that some powerful person has humiliated you in an unust manner, see, now I'm naked before the world and it's his fault!

Frank

Other places use it as a heroic show kf strength. See? I've got no armor on! I'm not afraid of you! I'm gonna whup your ass with my tiddies out!

Frank

Still irks me that there's boobs and pubes all over tv now but a penis? heavens no we can't show a penis! and an erect penis? unthinkable!
