What counts as long sword, short sword, arming sword, broad sword, etc. is varied depending who you ask. Even what is a dagger vs what is a knife can become a long discussion.

We love our tiny Ebonholz! We also love our giant DnD lady as well.

Blankarmor

so the d&d lady can just one-hand it because she’s huge/strong?

One of my biggest complaints with D&D (and I've been playing it since 1978) is the weapon damage system. I understand you have to have a numerical value, but it assumes a weapon like an arrow inherently can't kill you in one shot past level 0 or 1. (1d4 Dmg) Also spears, short swords, javelins, etc........... Sorry, Gary Gygax. While I love and respect you, you could die to a ballpoint pen in the right hands.

+3 Magic Sword. It's stupidly light because magic negates physics. LOL

I can excuse some of the weird weapon sizes because last time I played my character was a Goliath with 20 strength, so it made sense with him lol Side note, Love Ebenholz's armor so much, I am very happy to see her actually wearing it these last few posts.

Quaffnot the Raven

Ahh, Angela Hawthorne looks amazing in your style! Love this crossover!

Jack Newbill

Hah! I thought that looked like Angela, as well. Thanks for confirming!

But, but, but...katana??? [ducks to avoid the deserved brickbats for that joke]

Fantasy sword... Eww... Anyway, always thought the damage system in D&D was odd. If you drive a weapon through someone's [insert vital organ here], they are dead, doesn't matter what "level" they are.

Uriel Godfire

Hit Points do not necessarily represent a discreet amount of damage, not originally. taking 3 damage as a level 1 character isn't the same as taking 3 damage as a level 10 character. Its not about how chunky hard their skin and vital organs are (though that can be a factor) but higher level characters are supposed to know better how to roll with a blow, minimize a hit, and have more stamina to spend avoiding taking serious damage. Most players don't think this way, not in the post video game era.

Interesting. Thank you for the explanation.
