Lou Papas

I don’t know about bows, I’ll wait for the comments

Chase Sutter

It's a training bow, it's just a training bow, it's low draw weight, it won't implode

D Smith

That is so dangerous 😭

Tyler Hobbs

It can wreck the bow if you do it a lot, plus, if you're stupid like me, the string slaps your wrist/hand and hurts like an S.O.B.

D Smith

Drawing and loosing a bow, even a modern composite compound bow, without an arrow nocked can fracture the bow or cause it to explosively dissemble itself

Tyler Hobbs

Sister, your training officer is about to have words with you.

John Paul Odle

Ah yes... Dry fire (for those who don't know: dry firing a bow puts all the kinetic force that would otherwise go into the arrow into the limbs of the bow, which can catastrophically explode since the energy basically has nowhere to go)

Lou Papas

Awesome, time to look into the physics of it

Mian

Bows are meant to put their power into the arrow. Dry firing has that power go into the bow and your arm instead, which especially on heavy draw weights can cause damage.

Tyler Hobbs

All the force that would launch an arrow is instead held in the arms of the bow, which doesn't like that. High-draw-weight longbows especially, but any bow doesn't like all that force going nowhere but into the bow.

Russell Birkner

Watched something like that happen at Sherwood faire- haven’t heard expletives like that since basic

GM

Thanks, I wasn't sure what I was missing.

SCP Chloe

Don’t dry fire it!

Matthew D. Riddle

Is Squire-chan about to get a spine shivering chill..... like theres a legion of very judgy seniors preparing to swoop down upon her in beratement?

Kyle Maxwell

I had a Bowyer tell me if I dry fire I buy it. Then saw a k8d dry fire at an archery range and instructor lose his mind.

Spacegeek359

i laughed out loud. It's so true.

shawn allemond

He's not smiling, I'm scared for her now.

Just Jack

Oh Squire-chan, whyyyyy?!?😱

EB

This hurts just to look at

KaiserDunk

Bows, even training bows, are not toys. She’s about to become Best Friends with whoever is in charge of the archery training grounds.

KaiserDunk

In the U.S. military, we call that becoming Best Friends with the DI.

Chase Sutter

I figure since the center of the bow is breaking toward the string, implode would be a good word

Jeremy _

And Matt Damon does it like five times in Odyssey!

Henry Walker

I have not done archery in a while and that still makes me twitch...
