I really like the Harpies described in mythology.

To me, I wish them look much more like birds. I know everyone has their own interpretation, and Harpies never actual creatures but the imagination of many ppl throughout history. This is simply my personal preference.

Most Harpies in fantasy games, especially the sexy naked flying woman type of design were never my cup of tea. But the Harpies in Dragon's Dogma are one of the very few designs that struck me perfectly. When I played the first game over a decade ago, I was amazed. Yes! This is exactly what a Harpy should look like!

Then during my career in game development, I always hoped I'd have a chance to design Harpies like that. Unfortunately, I wasn't a character designer, so I never had the authority to decide what the Harpies in the games should look like. I worked on several projects that featured Harpies, but they always ended up as the familiar sexy women with wings and talons, act like humans.

Back then, I couldn't help wondering if my taste was simply too strange to fit into the team. Now that I can draw for myself, I no longer have to worry much about what other people think.

Tho, my abilities are limited. I can draw still arts, but can't bring them to life as living, breathing characters in a game all by myself. Even so, seeing all of your reactions makes me feel that I'm not alone.

Thank you for enjoying my Harpy arts!

I've loved your harpies!! The design is so so cool. They're feral and mysterious. They're not sexual either which I enjoy. They're just birds

Matthew D. Riddle

Yep, your's I see as even more intelligent further evolved avian raptors.

D Smith

I hope one day your art graces a video game many will enjoy 😊

Paul Duckworth

Really love your harpies. I also have thought of them as birds with some human characteristics as opposed to humans with bird characteristics

Benjamin Rawls

I’m sure it’s an upper position but whoever wasn’t having you do character designs was screwing themselves over.

Dr. Steelworth

They looked awesome!😄 .....Even the one that peed on the viewer😮‍💨

Your depiction of harpies for me is the right blend of other that makes me feel curious, cautious, and somewhat creeped out. It's just so good!

The Fire Piper

I love your version! A little derpy, a little frightening, a little cute!

Richard R

I definitely like your version, they're different and just the right amount of scary. Harpies shouldn't be "Wow I want to get busy with that," they should be "wow I want to get busy escaping from that because it's going to eat me." The eyes on yours fit that description perfectly.

100% Now, sirens on the other hand....

They are cool!

Christopher Clark

The way you draw them, I can see them as living breathing moving characters in my mind.

Panuru

Dragon's Dogma mentioned, woo!

Schrödingers Katze

I enjoy both Versions, the sexy kind and the one you are talking about. Both have their niches I believe.

Dr Razno

I do! The big bright eyes are fun. Alert and focused, but you can't tell what she's thinking.

Nobilis Reed

How do you feel about people writing stories inspired by your art? Some artists love it, some hate it.

Stephen Lindholm

My only criticism is that they would need a much bigger chest to be capable of flight. Not breasts, ribs and pecs. Think about how much muscle is in a chicken's torso and chickens don't fly often like other avians. I imagine something like pronounced sternum with large pecs. I mean no offense with this and it's just my brain thinking through stuff. Your designs are also tremendously fetching.
