I just remembered the comparison of her graduation speech and Trump's commencement speech, I think it was on Fallon or Colbert? 😂

This movie is such a classic. And the court scene when Elle suggests gay men know designers is doubly funny knowing Victor Garber's gay. The look on his face, man.

"And your boyfriend's name is?" "Chuck" "Right" "Pardon me. Pardon me. I thought you said friend. Chuck is just a friend" "YOU BITCH!!!" 🤣🤣🤣 Such a silly movie and I love it! Completely forgot Martin Stein/Agent Bristow was in this, and playing a sleazeball, too

Wow I never made the connection that was Linda Cardellini (aka Judy from Dead To Me!) playing the daughter in law here. She literally transforms- love her! Love Reese too- always have.

This one is a classic for the millennials and I know it was seen as a rare woman empowering romcom for the time- I certainly viewed it that way as an adolescent/young teenage girl. Think it’s also a good example though of some of the issues we had culturally in that time period- in that this is what we considered empowering. A story of a young woman who worked hard and was ambitious and proved she was capable despite being underestimated, but whose motivation for doing all that was to be worthy of a man (hidden subtext: finding a man is a woman’s ultimate goal in life). I think if it hadn’t ended with Elle and Emmett getting together- and making that point even to say she was about to get proposed to- and instead showed her finding her worth outside of a man as the ultimate “prize”/goal- that could’ve made a big difference in terms of the overall messaging, at least for me I think it might’ve.
