Look, Ross made a shitty mistake but it never sat right with me that Emily’s first act of their marriage was domestic violence. Like, literally waited until there was no witnesses, aiming for real pain (and based on Ross’ reaction) succeeding in inflicting pain. That always felt like a very dark peek behind the Emily curtain. Nothing excuses violence, esp domestic violence except self defense in fearing for one’s own life. (I typed this pretty early into the reaction and is in no way directed at anyone, merely my own thoughts).

Oh Ross, he's so dumb lol. He deserved that punch from Emily. 😂 Seriously though the way he's treated her is so awful. I've read that at the time the show was airing Emily was public enemy number 1 and I've never understood that, Ross was the villain. As for Chandler and Monica, I remember their chemistry taking me by surprise the first time I watched that show. You really do instantly root for them. 💕

My Giant was a Billy crystal movie that had just hit “on demand” around the time. I remember because I was on a 12 flight to Hawaii and they played that as the “in flight entertainment” then played a few hours of friends including this episode. Once of those; you know you’ve seen it and enjoyed it but could never remember a single scene type of films.

I remember watching this in high school and adults saying “once you get older you’ll be more sympathetic towards Emily”. Well I’m 40 now, I’ve watched this show literally 100 times in the past 25 years and I still have very little sympathy for her. Sucks he said the wrong name but just end it there then. Don’t go through with the wedding, physically assault him, sneak out the window, and then have your parents show up to get your stuff. And to show up at the very last possible minute for a flight that Ross should have already been on, is manipulative as well bc you know damn well she wasn’t gonna get on that plane so then he would still have had to choose between the trip and her. At least Rachel gets a free vacation out of it 😂
