I got you John. You were probably thinking of the Black Goat of the Woods (also called Shub-Niggurath). The flute or piping might be more prevalent than I know, but I always think of Azathoth, the crawling chaos, which is supposedly sedated by some flute music. But Lovecraft always seemed to filter his lore drops through unreliable speakers, so I wouldn't take any mythos descriptions as hard evidence. He was always intentionally vague. While occasionally frustrating, it's certainly a big part of what makes his writing so appealing.

Azathoth is the Nuclear Chaos, Nyarlathotep is the Crawling Chaos.

The Smosh playthrough of this game did also have someone mispronouncing "chasm" although I believe it was entirely because the player didn't know the correct pronunciation. On another note, all those blank dice rolled during this game, aganst all odds, did feel like a Final Destination style plot where those who had evaded death for so long were finally being targeted. Though, if they have any kids to step into their shoes they're probably in their 100s too at this point.

On top of this, with his thousand forms, Nyarlathotep might have some forms that play pipes, and as a herald of the outer gods, probably skirts around Azathoth's court and the creatures that play pipes. Possibly Jon has read some Cthulhu Mythos I'm unfamiliar with that directly ties Nyarlathotep to a piper.

I keep thinking about some kind of Board Game League or Legacy version, not exactly sure how many are in the game, but after Betrayal Legacy, how about a series of Cosmic Encounter until all aliens have been used? Legacy: winner stays, losers pick new aliens. League: draft a set.of aliens. First to win with each in their set wins.

The whispering is hard to listen to and an awful game mechanic. Please at least don't read whole game mechanics in it. I have to listen to this multiple times just to have an Idea what is going on.

For Jon if he still cares: Azathoth is the Great Old One that is often associated with "pipes" or "piping" but they are definitely NOT a goat in almost any way.

Yep! Most people attribute that name to one of Shub's nicknames. I don't know enough about their lore though.
