Hail To The NeRBs!

It’s time for a brand new series to kick off with early access to episode one of our first LEGACY game: The King’s Dilemma.

We’ve assembled a small council made up of big personalities, who are going to discuss and debate dilemmas affecting the Kingdom of Ankist. Their choices will decide the fate of the country! Will they do what is best for the masses or what benefits their own noble house the most? (No prizes for guessing which one most people go for)

As a legacy game, each session of the King’s Dilemma builds into the overall history of the nation, with the choices the player’s make shaping the present and probably coming back to bite them in future playthroughs. The winner at the end of the campaign will be house who has positioned themselves perfectly when the kingdom either prospers or falls to ruin. (No prizes for guessing which of these outcomes is most likely either)

Just a note for future, if you pass for moderator, you don't get to share in the power that other passers get. At 22 minutes in this video, Sully should have got all three power because Holly got moderator

They likely had to scrap some BOTC videos with adam in them. Then re-record them, but have to scrap them again because they have Ben in them, and The Pandemonium Institute are no longer working with NRB due to community pressure. Understandable that they didn't have anything to show us, but I'm going to pause my membership until one comes out as that's the only thing I'm on this patreon for ^^'

I love Legacy games! They are always such a fun concept for me. The first time I played Risk Legacy I was hooked on the idea of permanency in board games.

They aren't ignoring all questions about it, they addressed it in a post 3 days ago. Scroll down until you see Stalin and read that. I'm guessing that the 2 BOTC episodes they announced weeks ago would have both been coming out today, which would have meant we didn't miss a single episode. I think they have done pretty well to give us extra content to make up for not being able to do that at short notice. Hopefully Clocktower will be back soon, but they are doing the best they can.

Just to clarify, it isn't that TPI aren't working with NRB anymore, they have just paused their relationship pending NRB reviewing their internal processes. As long as they are happy with the outcome of that, they should be back working together.

Unless you have further insight from TPI, "Pause their relationship" means not working with...at the moment. Not "No longer working with" or just "not working with" as those would be incomplete or misleading statements. As can be seen from a lot of the comments, not everyone is fully clued up as to all the goings on, so being clear is important to avoid (more) misunderstandings or misinformation and so people know what is fact and what is opinion. It may be your opinion TPI won't work with NRB anymore but they haven't SAID that, neither is what they have said hinting that. Anyone that wants to can read the statement from The Pandemonium Institute on the matter on their twitter /BloodClocktower and NRB's statements on here, plus there is a thread on the Discord summing everything up. Basically, NRB can't use Ben until TPI are happy NRB's review of their internal processes (protecting cast and community specifically) is complete and satisfactory. This may mean no Clocktower until then, though technically they can still do it without Ben I believe, unless they have an agreement stating otherwise. But with all that to work around, they've given us other content in the meantime that lots of people have requested. As much as I love and miss BOTC content, I appreciate what they have done given the situation.

And on the next dilemma, the power should have stayed on the board as no one passed for power (Ken passed for moderator). Point being, taking moderator should be an actual choice rather than automatic for the first person to pass.

So if you become the moderator you don't gain the power as well. If the Leader token is held by a player on the losing side, the Leader token is immediately given to the player on the winning side who invested the most Power on their AYE/NAY card. If players of the winning side are tied, the ownership of the Leader token must be determined by the Moderator. So for example Ken wouldn’t have signed that card or got the coins, it would have passed to the other side. But still loved the video and looking forward to the rest as someone has played the game before!"

I've played the game, but never read the rulebook, and as I was watching I sat there thinking: "Were we doing it wrong, or are they?" And now I know the answer :-) But these legacy games can get very rules-heavy, and there is a learning-curve. I loved the video, and am looking forward to more.

Back in the day, this game was pitched as Reins x Game of Thrones x Legacy, and it delivered! So glad you are playing it, at last. Spoiler alert, the dilemmas in the next sessions are going to be NOT for the faint of heart; slavery in comparison to what is coming next is pretty tame.

Loved watching this and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series! I'd love to play it myself one day but I live in France and all my boardgames friends are French, but I'd need to play it with an English speaking group to really get the most out of it as I can't speak as spontaneously in French or follow fast flowing group discussions (that's a bit of a an accidental tongue twister there!). There's so many games that I don't get to play because of this :-(
