Hello NeRBs,

Spooky season is officially open and we are starting with a classic - Burke's Gambit! Can you tell we LOVE a certain space franchise on this channel? In this social deduction game, players will need to find the infected member of the crew in order to eject them from their spaceship and avoid bringing a nasty bug back to Earth. However, certain crew members would rather keep the parasite onboard for corporate gain, THE SPACE SCUM!

I think the Patreon versions should have the ad reads cut out. Not something I'm gonna get particularly upset about, just my two cents if ads/sponsorships are going to be a necessity in the future.

Pretty sure they mean Youtube Ads, not paid advertisements (I also think they have to include paid promotions?)

If they stay board game related, then I don't mind really. Especially because I can easily skip if I choose. But at least it feels like it belongs, for now, and they can have fun with it. Plus, even better if that means they can put more money towards their continued increase in quality. Which I'm all for.

I'm pro the team being able to pay their talent when so many channels don't do that. If I need to fast forward through an ad read so be it.

There were none in the YouTube version either. They have had videos in the past with no talking heads. I assume it's a mix of "sometimes people don't have anything to say" and "editing in talking heads breaks the flow of the game."

I don't at all mind the fact that there are ad reads on the channel, but the point of Patreon is that the money comes from patrons instead of advertisers. The tier I'm subscribed to explicitly offers "ad-free episodes" as a perk. I don't see what the problem would be with having the reads on the public channel and removing them from the Patreon-only videos.

I'm going to be pedantic about it. If they mean that it should say that. Currently it says no ads and I was given an ad, so they are not delivering what the offered.

In fairness, it's usually never done for the uncut versions. Their not being on the standard YouTube version, however, is news to me.

Well they started adding them a few months back.. in line with the new intro and table they stop. Coincidence or just part of the overall change time will tell.

Surely it's not just me who found the ad really funny and wants to see a series of ads with Sullivan getting slowly more obsessed with playing Disney Lorcana on the channel...

Ad-free is not sponsorship free. The terms of a sponsorship means that you have to include it everywhere a video is posted or promoted in most cases. Ad-free means no mid-roll ads from YouTube third parties.

I've been subscribed for a pretty long time and there have always been games that did not have talking heads. As mentioned above, these were not excluded here, they were not included. 4 of the last 6 BGC games included talking heads. The 2 games that didn't did not include talking heads on either version of the video. This is statistically similar to how it has always been. We need to stop jumping to conclusions that everything is a change.

You sponsor an event or a channel, so they in return advertise your product. NRB was sponsored, we were shown an advertisement.

YouTube disagrees with that definition. They specifically differentiate between ads and sponsorships, but that still comes back to why you would be so put out about the channel getting sponsorship money.

Well Jack I care obviously. And I care because I've seen this go down too many times before. They advertise ad free viewing, I pay for that privilege (probably more than they would get out of my views in revenue).

Getting in early with my comments on the recent Youtube video about the new-ish table and upcoming TTRPG sister channel: As reflected in the majority of the comments on the YouTube video so far, the table should be called “The Rosie” and the new TTRPG channel should be called “Gnome Trolls Bard”.
