My Beautiful Man - Season 2 - Episode 1.mp4

I dropped the series 1st time around and did get back until much later. I didn't like how Kiyoi treated Hira. He bullied him, call him names, and hit him. Hira might have Asperger‘s too. I’ve had arguments over it. They are the same type of people who call Jeffery Dalmer hot and he killed dozens of black and Asian men. I know Kiyoi is no way as bad but he's an abuser. But I digress. Anyway, they are both insecure men that rely on each other. Kiyoi needs to be told he is loved and beautiful. Hira wanted the objection of his obsession and gets walked all over. It’s complicated and Toxic. A man like Koyama wouldn’t hit you

I really like Koyama. I can't remember if he did anything shady in S1 since it's been a while since I reacted to it, but I hope he finds someone else. 💖

I didn’t realize how much I missed these two. I don’t really think Kiyoi is abusive it’s just his domination over Hira and Hira loves it. I love how Kiyoi was so jealous and he looks so good that he just wanted to eat him up and I loved it when he kicked him because he couldn’t help himself. I thought it was funny. I love the dynamic of the relationship, but I just wish they would communicate with words more.

I’d have to disagree with you on this one. I used to think that this relationship was toxic but then I rewatched the series only paying attention to Kiyoi and I also read the source material and came to understand Kiyoi’s actions. I am not excusing his behavior when they were teenagers but I now understand why their dynamics can necessarily be described as toxic. Both Kiyoi and Hira are people who do not understand their own behaviors and emotions and do not know how to express themselves in a healthy manners. Only difference here is that Kiyoi knows how to fake it and he stays out of his own head. He’s not the nicest person to Hira and I believe he’s actually been working on this, if you watched the episode you’ll see where he actively tries and apologizes to Hira for being too harsh on him. Hira too his working on himself. They are both trying and both probably need a lot of help and therapy. But their relationship is complex and actually works for them. To say it’s toxic is to only think of it from our perspective and not consider theirs

I agree with Faiths statement, I also think the context of where they live has to be considered too. Kiyoi is a young queer man trying to be comfortable showing vulnerability in a society that still very much celebrates men that are masculine, being emotional or sensitive is still very often considered as weakness or feminine trates to show. This is not to excuse his behaviour but to help shed some light on other cultural facts that come in to play with their dynamic too. You can see Kiyoi still lashes out after being vulnerable but he has grown enough from season 1 to admit "I was harsh on you yesterday" later when they're alone and have calmed down. I mean it in the most respectful way when I saw perhaps you should stop watching this? I agree Koyama is a great guy in his own way but there's no way this show ends with him getting with Hira. If you're watching still holding out for that, and find Kiyoi that uncomfortable to watch, It may be better just to drop it. 👍🏼

"I was too persistent last night..." Oh Hira 😅😅 I actually love that while Kiyoi is the dominant one in their day to day life it's the opposite when they sleep together. I don't necessarily want the show more explicit, but I am hoping for some more direct references to their bedroom dynamic only because I really think it gives their relationship so much more complexity that Kiyoi doesn't have this dominant hold over Hira 100% of the time. I saw a comment from some who read the book say it's the time where Kiyoi is the most vulnerable and Hira is the most selfish which I think balances their everyday life and struggle well. I was really looking forward to your reaction and you didn't disappoint! Thank you!

TitaJosie

They'll get to the point where they communicate with words more eventually. Lels. 😅😝🥰

TitaJosie

Yeah I agree. If perhaps they referenced their bedroom dynamic more (which they did kind of allude to in ep. 1), it would show a more balanced relationship. 💖

Sorry, I disagree with all the comments about Kiyoi. Kiyoi isn’t dominant and doesn’t like to dominate Hira. It only seems that way because of how submissive Hira APPEARS to be. Yes, it’s true that K is the submissive one in bed. Of course the series has not made it clear, because in the novel we get Kiyoi’s thoughts and understand just how much he actually puts up with and does for Hira. Hira isn’t someone who is easy to have a relationship with. Someone like Koyama would never fit with Hira. He is too simple and “normal.” The fact that Hira still gets Kiyoi’s thoughts wrong and still expects to be dumped by him at any moment, it’s Kiyoi who has to deal with that and Kiyoi who gets hurt. They are in a relationship and Hira still can’t fathom the truth of it, naturally Kiyoi would be frustrated. But he does his best to adjust to Hira. I’m sooo hoping the series will show just how difficult Hira is to be with and how hurtful he can be, because he is farrrrrrrr from perfect, Kiyoi isn’t the only one. This is just me spilling my thoughts, please just ignore me.

TitaJosie

I can see your point. For me, I have zero interest in BL novels or what happens in them. I only go by what is shown on the screen. I'm glad that in S2 there's been a slight change in Hira and Kiyoi's dynamic, and they've tried to show more balance. I hope it continues. 💖

Actually, I never thought Kiyoi was dominant. I re-watched the scene in school from the last episode of Season 1 several times because it was well acted and it was the most emotional one. It was also the one when Kiyoi breaks down and with the tears in his eyes says:”I am not a God, I am just an ordinary man”. “You kissed me first and then…you changed your number”… He is the one in love, that’s for sure. And in Season 2 I hope they rebalance their relationship because it is actually difficult to deal with an obsession, Kiyoi is super patient in my view ))

Yesss I’m glad you watch them too I love and miss them ❤️❤️❤️🥹
