Dear PatronsHere's our latest Honest Government Ad!This one's for our friends in Tasmania, who are going to a state election on March 23. And for all those who care about kicking the Tories off the political map of Australia.Tasmania, for those who don't know, is an incredibly beautiful part of the world - home to ancient forests, pristine rivers, and of course - to the very last Liberal (ie. conservative) Government in Australia. (Coincidentally, the Tassie Liberal Party is celebrating 10 years of Tassie rule this very day!). Tassie is also ravaged by social disadvantage and some of the poorest health and education outcomes in the nation. So we couldn't pass this one up. And trust me, I considered passing it up. Coz when the Tassie government announced their election, I was in the middle of editing the whistleblower HGA. Which means I got straight to work on this episode without a break (which my brain and eyes desperately need after an HGA). Needless to say I am fried after working round the clock to get this one out ahead of election day. But I am so glad to have been able to do it, because we've been wanting to cover the shitfuckery in Tassie for a long time. But man, I was not prepared for how bad things are down in Tassie. After reading Nick Feik's article about the Ashley Youth Detention Centre, The Rotten Core, I was genuinely speechless. And Richard Flanagan's Toxic, The Rotting Underbelly of the Tasmanian Salmon Industry. And the latest news on native forest logging from the Bob Brown Foundation.
