Dear PatronsWhether you're Australian or one of our international supporters, I am sure you all share a deep relief in seeing that Australia (like Canada just a few days earlier) rejected Trump-style politics. That we elected a more progressive Parliament (even if not as progressive as some may have wished!). And that Peter Dutton lost his seat, marking what is likely the death of Australia's Liberal (aka Shit) Party. It was nothing short of a historic election outcome. There are already dozens of theories about what led to this outcome. I am sure you have some good ones of your own (and I am curious to know what they are). But in the coming days, a single official explanation of "What Happened"™ will probably emerge as the dominant one. The "Lesson we learned"™ from this election will shape the way we approach future ones. So I encourage everyone to take their time, and read a range of views over the coming days, rather than seek "The Right One"™ today. (Especially since it will take days and possibly even weeks for some very close seats to be called). But as I said at the start, one conclusion we can definitely draw with confidence is that in 2025 Australians told the MAGA-sphere to fuck right off. And whether you're an Aussie, Canadian or America, that's something we should all be extremely happy about. Over the coming week or so I'll be putting together a video to mark the end of Seaons 3, featuring bloopers and behind-the-scene action from the past years; as well as some news about what to expect from the Juice Media in Season 4 of the Honest Government Ads. We still have a long way to see genuine climate action and environment protection from this government, so that's one of the things we'll be focusing on most going forward. But we'd also love to know: what would YOU like to see from us going forward? This is a great time to share any suggestions you might have; not necessarily limited to the Honest Government Ads; for example, what else would you like to see from the Juice Media?I'll catch you shortly with my end of season video. Till then, I leave you with a photo from our last HGA, in which Juno discovers the props basket and Luca tries to see if he can finally pick up Zoë, who normally is the one to pick up Luca when he runs on set during a shoot. (He still can't).xo Giordano & team

Congrats to Australia! How if only the US political system would actually show some guts and remove that cankerous puss-filled cold-sore on the anus of humanity from the White House. How about an HGA about jerrymandered voting districts, and how to get rid of them. Also cover the countries that have the worst/most corrupt district lines. ??? Just an idea. Other than that, You've been doing brilliant work. Thank you for giving the middle finger to those in power.

Know you've already done Tassie issue with the salmon, but I'd love to see an Honest Gov Ad about the forestry industry. On top of old growth currently taking place, about 39,000 hectares is at immenent risk of being reclassified, allowing them to be logged. These areas were marked as protected reserves in the 2012 forestry agreement. What is truly deplorable, aside from the obvious nature destruction, is how little of what is logged is actually viable. Instead of state run forestry being called to account as to why it has failed to meet production targets, it is being rewarded with the destruction of forests which are the homes to rare and threatened species. Tas just celebrated record tourist numbers.. But soon there'll be no trees to visit, and that fresh air they advertise will be full of the smoke from forestry burn offs. Disclosure: My home Mountain is one of the first areas on the chopping block. https://protectmtarthur.my.canva.site/protect-mt-arthurs-forests

You've been excellent all year and I've been proud to share the kids and have received good comments (mostly), even from people who typically vote for the shit party. Living in WA it would be good to see you do something about WA Labor and how they are in the pockets of the mining and oil and gas companies - specifically Alcoa and South 32 (bulldozing 000's acres of old growth jarrah forest and not rehabilitating the r forests that they already destroyed) and Woodside with their Scarborough project Burrup expansion which will guarantee 50years of CO2 emissions

I wish the crossbench in the lower house was stronger, but I love that Dutton lost his seat and the electorate so vehemently rejected Trumpism. Another YouTuber I support on Patreon is Shawn Grenier/The Canvas, who stood in the Canadian elections for the Rhinoceros Party. His latest video on his goals, and how he achieved them, is a great critique of electoral politics, and a cry for more direct political action. Perhaps The Juice Media could do some videos presenting back-ground to progressive politics, and alternatives to simply relying on the ballot box?

While I do enjoy the "petty" pleasure of the Malignant Tuber losing it's seat, that the temu-trump party got told to f-off (their name sounds like the description of a wet fart) and that the LNP lost seats, despite a good showing in primary votes, independents have sadly fallen short (bloody great effort tho!) I'm not seeing much more positives in this election. Sure, ALP are the lesser of two evils, but the voting public just gave them a majority in the lower house, negating the positive balance that independents provide. Also looks like the Senate will go their way. It's never good when one party controls both houses. I'm an old fart boomer, I tried to vote in a way that would give the younger generations a go, a fair say. (Voted independent and put ALP/LNP/ToP last) but sadly it seems a lot of younguns voted against their own interests. Next 3 years will be at best "more of the same", with the changes to electoral rules, and not much chance of pressuring a change to them, I'm not too confident about the future.

John Odgers

Join the ALP and get on one of the policy committees. Labor is in office for two more terms so make it change from the inside.

John Odgers

Perhaps extend from Honest Government ads - there has to be changed in our housing but not just tax reform and government supply. Analysis of our ridiculous house that are built too big, too expensive to run, badly insulated, and with no community, would be useful, maybe with positive impact on housing developments, and on builders. Look at Nightingale Housing for examples of community involvement and good housing outcomes.

Bob

Please don't let Trumpism overwhelm the reasons for the coalition drubbing here, it has its share for sure but the conservative ideology of Dutton and Co is what sunk them in the end

jonesmike53 .

That is, if they have an ideology beyond being counts * * remove the vowel of your own choosing 😄

jonesmike53 .

Hi Giordano and Team how about honest: Health funds Super funds Banks Insurance companies Local government Landlords Supermarkets Product managers - I have a dodgy gut and my lateral sting is Gaviscon quietly dropping the bottle size from 600ml to 500ml and keeping the price the same - a sneaky 16% hike. Bastards. Oh, the list be endless. Arseholery is everywhere !

Sarah

I read that prior to Dutton, there was a 'one term curse' on Dickson. I wonder if the true curse on Dickson is Dutton for 24 years. While it's good to know about all the shit things the Shit and Shit Lite parties are doing, it could be interesting to know about the good things being done whether that is by Shit Lite or independents. Sure, Shit Lite did some garbage things during their first time, but they also accomplished some (all?) of their promises. Lastly, perhaps some info on what we can do when things we disagree with happen (like what happened with salmon in Tassie). I regularly see The Juice videos and have no idea what I can do about any of the issues.

Jas

I love the HGAs and think expanding into some deep dive investigative pieces would be great to see. Even if it’s into matters covered by other indie journalists, the more independent media writing about these topics the better. And the more likely they’re to get more attention and disrupt the larger parties, rather than just tugging at the fringes.

Lea

I looked at the graph that was published of LNP and ALP approval over time for the last few months, and the point where the LNP popularity dipped down and didn't come back up seemed to be around march 3. When I looked at the newspaper for that date in the Wayback machine, thats when Cyclone Alfred was coming in. I think peter pissing off to Sydney for some fund raising when the rest of us were tieing down our houses (perhaps I exaggerate slightly ;) ) was the final straw. (Can you believe a man who leaves his wife to set up the house in the face of that??? if he does that to his wife, what would he do to us as PM??)

D. WARD KRANZ

So happy for you all! Please stay safe and keep up the important work!✊🏼✊🏼❤✊🏼✊🏼

Furio Ercolessi

I understand this may be difficult, but I would really love to see more coverage of international issues and Europe in particular. Because the shittification is quite global, and your concepts and ideas can often apply to scenarios in other countries with small adaptations. Of course you would need resident consultants and there could be language problems to reach a wider audience.

Meta Jacob Matuschka

Agreed. I just returned from Germany, where the AfD is polling equal or some say even higher than the party forming government! Yet when I spoke to regular people, I didn't detect much appetite for Trumpian politics and on the whole, Germans seem much more engaged with democracy and politics than Australians. But clearly somebody thinks AfD is a good idea over there. Can they not see the connection? As Furlo said, these are key world players who are flirting with fascism, what they choose to do going forward will affect everyone.

Rachel Walker

While Trump being a lunatic has definitely damaged conservatives in countries like Australia and Canada where said conservatives tried to echo some of MAGA politics, I think Dutton still would have lost even if Harris was US president. Why? He’s just unlikeable. That really is the basis of it. He’s unappealing physically and personality wise. Combined with conservative politics which come across as outdated (nuclear) or punitive (canning federal workers or eliminating work from home), people just weren’t interested.

Mark william lane

Thank you all! Family, love, a little thoughtful action based on good source information and we can change the world. I will pray for you and I ask you pray for all willing souls to find truth and act. Your extraordinary! If we can learn to live for each other and not the global reserve currency the planet and by extension life itself stands a chance to not only survive but flourish you can see it in the eyes and faces of the children. If here in America Leonard Peltier is home on his reservation anything is possible! God is love not political. lol

Mark D Larsen

It is so encouraging for me to see other countries —civilized countries— reject the Reich-wing politics that have made us into the Feudal States of Amnesia here. Kudos to you! We really have to get rid of Donny2Dolls. I’m sure that other nations wonder how and why we could elect him again, but I am convinced that we didn’t. It was rigged, as the statistical analyses have shown, helped even further by the Rethuglicans’ gerrymandering, closing polls, purging voter rolls, passing draconian voter ID laws. What worries me most is that, if and when more progressive politics put a stop to this dictatorship, the climate crisis will have crossed too many tipping points to reverse the destruction of our Pale Blue Dot. Buckle up, folks, for the floods, droughts, wildfires, extreme weather are multiplying faster than E’loon skuM impregnates more women. Sigh….

PeterKNIGHT’spage

IMHO, Mr Dutton made himself unelectable with his nuclear power, foisted on him by the dumb-as-a-post Nats and right wing Liberal Party nut jobs, which was so obviously stupid he lost all credibility.

Johan Zijlstra

Is it possible for the JuiceMedia to do a global Honest Government Ad about Monetary Reform? To start, take a look at this website: https://monreform.org/ It belongs to the 'International Movement for Monetary Reform' and if any country would implement a proposal from it's associated local movements it could start a rippling effect and freeing the planet from money as debt.

Leon White

Great work this season, very much looking forward to seeing the climate focus continue. Very much the biggest issue of our times!

Justin T. Thurn

Hey, Giordano & team. I'm the proportional representation nerd from Canada with a question for you insightful folk. You noted that both our countries dodged a specific danger. Chris Hedges calls it warlord capitalism (represented by the current Republican party), as opposed to corporate capitalism (neoliberalism as we've understood it since the 70's/80's). One way to understand conservatives versus liberals in Canada is "it's all rotten, to burn it down" versus "it's all fine, so don't change anything". My biggest fear in Canadian Federal politics is that Carny and his crew will continue to do what the liberal party always does: nothing. They tend to run from the left and govern from the right, and Carny himself is bloated with false piety. That's still better than the warlord capitalists, but only in a shit lite way. If the liberal party takes their usual approach most people in Canada will continue to experience a bleaker everyday reality, which will open a wider and wider crack through which faux-populists can operate. Trump didn't happen on his own. Poilievre didn't happen on his own. The corporate capitalists gave them what they needed. Carny is refusing to cut official deals with other parties to keep his minority government going because the liberals "received the most votes". True, but 60% of voters went AGAINST the liberals, and the conservatives received their highest vote share since 1988. I'm not sure Carny, or anyone, can rely on fear and being able to limbo under the Trump bar forever. So what about Dutton? Did he happen on his own, or is there a "it's all fine, so don't change anything" streak in Australia that gave him all the real grievances he needed to bedazzle his worst traits? Is there any concern that a Labour win is just a limbo under the Trump bar, and that Labour will ensure that bar stays high enough that Dutton- or Poilievre-type figures can keep dancing under it?

Bunga

There was an obvious concerted effort in bashing the Greens from all sides of the fence this election. A lot of money was spent by Advance Aust, Atlas group and Better Aust, to name a few to throw shit on the Greens. Maybe a video on this aspect and un policed lies in election campaigns may help to have this changed in the future?

grremly

I fear that very thing in Australia too. I've been watching America more closely since Jan, and have realised how fed up they are with the status quo. They didn't care who got in, as long as it was someone different. Trump played upon and amplified those feelings. I do think we have the same going on in Aus and fear if Labor "play it safe" as was suggested they would on Q and A last night, some reformed and even more right wing version of the lnp will walk into the next election. Our re-elected pm used to care about Palestine. I'd love to see him take a diplomatic but public moral stand against Israel and trump. I don't expect he will. At the absolute minimum I think he needs to step away from the fossil fuel lobby and move toward real change for the climate. Again, I doubt he will, but I am still hopeful. Giordano and team, if you think there's any way you can help sway them in that direction, I think anything is worth a shot at this point! I'd donate to get you an audience with the PM if that's a possibility. I'm seriously worried the LNP will dig into the trump playroom again, but with someone with more charisma than a potato who may actually pull it off.

Richard Laxton

It appears that the emerging consensus in the LNP is that they just did not go right enough, so expect them to double down on racist and Trumpist shitfuckery. This does bode well for them never recovering to become a major political force again though. They can rename themselves to the "National Socialist" party or something.

thejuicemedia

Thanks Furio, I would love to focus on more international issues. It is more difficult in terms of requiring more research on my part, but it's definitely doable - especially if we have collaborators in those countries!

thejuicemedia

I agree to a certain extent, but there was a period of time - approximately from the US election until Trump took office and started shitting the bed in Feb - when Dutton was surging in the polls. So point taken, but also I wouldn't discount this entirely!

thejuicemedia

Buckle up is not bad advice. I am always impressed by yur endless supply of puns, Mark!

thejuicemedia

That was definitely a part of it! It's great that our information eco system was strong enough to debunk and expose Dutton's nuclear "plan" for what it was

thejuicemedia

Hi Justin thanks for the great comment. Canada and Australia having an election just days apart from each other offers an amazing, and possibly unique, opportunity to highlight the similarities between our two countries (which probably extend to many others too). Our Labor party won a huge majority with only ~35% of the primary vote, so almost two-thirds voted for someone else. Which is fine, that's how our preferential voting system works. But it does show that there is indeed a large pool of people who could be wooed by a charsismatic populist. The good news (also for grremly, above) is that we don't have many (any?) of those left on the Right here, so decisive was the defeat of the Shit Party in 2022 and 2025! But that doesn't mean new ones could rise up from the ashes

thejuicemedia

This is so true. And the smears and distortions came from all directions, not just Advance. To a certain extent this is just how things go during election season, the lies and propaganda reach fever pitch. But I agree, the smears and disinformation about minor parties and Community Independents was absoluetly disgraceful this time. Thankfully, despite this, Community Independents won an even larger share of the primary vote compared to 2022. The casualties might end up being Monique Ryan and Zoe Daniel. But others are doing well, and we might be seeing an even stronger Indy crossbench. But the Greens copped it very badly.

thejuicemedia

Interesting! The consensus seems to be that Australian elections are won from the centre, but if the LNP thinks The Lesson™ is that they should've gone even further to the Right, who are we to tell them otherwise ;)

thejuicemedia

Thanks so much Joe! Honoured to have your Boxing Club as one of our producers 🥊 🫶 (Lucy sends her love!)

Justin T. Thurn

Thanks for taking the time to provide your insights, friends. God knows time is something in short supply for y'all.

Jorj Lowrey

The science that proves old growth forests protect themselves from fire (so we should stop interfering with them). See David Lindenmeyer’s irrefutable evidence https://www.victorianforestalliance.org.au/recording_lindenmayer_webinar. A focus on the corrupt and cruel salmon farming in Tassie (listen to Richard Flanagan’s audio book Toxic). Same as logging - plenty of greenwashing, pocket lining and tax-payer propping up. Whenever something goes and industrial, it’s goes bad.

thejuicemedia

I do like the idea of doing deep dives, thanks JJ

thejuicemedia

thanks for the suggestions Sarah. When Labor does something that justifies making a positive HGA, I will be happy to make one. To date the only thing I've been really stoked about is Albo's role in bringing Julian Assange home. Everything else has been so unambitious (the classic small target policy) or in some cases even harmful (environmental protection sellout, donation reform stitch-ups, caving in to gambling lobbies, sticking with aukus, etc), that I would feel like a government propagandist in promoting any of these as major achievements. But absolutely, if they do start to take genuinely ambitious action on issues like climate, environment and widening inequality, I will be happy to talk up how good they've been. We try to include a call to action at the end of every HGA, when possible. Often, the call to action is simply sharing the videos to help raise awareness about certain issues. But point taken

thejuicemedia

Interesting, thanks for sharing that Lea. Pissing off to Sydney definitely didn't help his prospects!

thejuicemedia

Thanks John, definitely keen to look at extending from the HGAs - we'll see!

Andrew Watkins

It was never intended to be a serious plan - didn’t add up from the start. This was not its intention, it was to allow Voldemort to pretend to care about the environment and costaliving while maximising life/profits of coal and gas

Jay Wilson

First up, my sincere thanks to you (Giordano) and your talented team for yet another year of outstanding world class vids! For next season my suggestion would be for you to consider resurrecting and sprinkling in the occasional 'We need to talk about..." YT podcasts. They seem to be the ideal vehicle for you to 'take a deeper dive' into issues that matter most... like the climate crisis. For openers I would think that a conversation with Richard Denniss from the Australia Institute on, shall we say, 'fair-go economics', would be both entertaining and help influence public opinion on everything from properly taxing methane gas exports to negative gearing reform .etc. My personal dictum is, 'once we get the money right, everything else will fall into place'. In any event, all the best for whatever you decide to do. Cheers mate!

thejuicemedia

Hi Jay, thanks for the message and the suggestion. I love knowing some people appreciated the 3 years when we made the podcast. And I do miss doing it. It certainly does allow me to go on deep dives and explore issues in more details, than the HGAs. I'm currently working on our wrap-up video for Season 3 (it's taking me a long time coz I'm also making up for lost time on parenting duties!) and will put out a call for suggestions for what to focus on in Season 4. Thanks again for all the support for these past 7 years!

Rebecca Officer

Hi Giordano, thanks for all the videos this year, as an NZer I've found you and your team's satire a bright light in the middle of a very dark year. One of the things that's made it dark has been NZ's own Shit Party and the Fast Track legislation they passed against a huge amount of opposition, which lets their mining mates rip up huge chunks of public conservation land with no right of public appeal (unbelievable, but them's the times). I'm part of a team trying to save one of these areas (Denniston Plateau) from coal mining and wondered if you'd be interested in doing an honest govt ad on this crap? We can give you a lot of info, photos and video footage. If this is something that interests you, please drop me a line. And good luck with planning Season 4 either way, I'm looking forward to it.

Rebecca Officer

P.S. Truly stunning fact: the NZ govt gets about $3 million a year in royalties from mining across the whole country, and they spend, wait for it, $3.7 million a year cleaning up after just one mine. And that mine's from the company we're fighting.

thejuicemedia

Kia Ora, Rebecca! Thanks for your message. Definitely interested in making an HGA about that crap. I'll send you a dm now!
