Dear Patrons, here's the latest Honest Government we've produced thanks to your support.I already shared my thoughts with you in the Preview a few days ago, which should have reached all 1940 of you, so I'll try to keep this brief. Some of you might find this somewhat pessimist approach to this topic off-putting. I'm sorry. But I can't really produce a series called Honest Government Ads without being honest about what's happening. Sadly, I believe that not long from now, "We're fucked" will be a mainstream view. Many of you I'm sure will already feel this way. I've been reading a lot on this topic and I've been hearing what climate scientist have been saying over the past few years. We've seen the paltry efforts that almost all industrialised nations are making to meet their Paris targets (and even if they DID meet them, those targets are arbitrary and inadequate for preventing a 2C degree warming within our lifetime). Some countries are going backwards with their emissions. And the results of the latest federal Aussie election and the shitshow at the Pacific Forum where Australia basically told island nations they can drown for all our Government cares, give me reason to have grave concerns for our near future. And not just for our children. There are signs that things could go pear shaped well within our own lifetimes. I don't know what else to do about it other than to make this video. So here we are. But my aim isn't to drive people into despair. This isn't the time to freak-out. We are not packing up and going to live in a mountain yurt. We're staying right here and holding this space, so we can be as effective as possible at helping to turn this ship around. Which is still possible. I believe that once a critical mass of people are sufficiently alarmed about what's happening, we will see Governments taking appropriate measures to deal with the emergency. But for that to happen, more people have to understand how bad things are.Which is why I am encouraging everyone to join us in taking part in the global days of non-violent action in September and October. Please check out these links to find your closest event - or organise one with your community. Encourage your friends, family, colleagues and employees to join you too. We can make this huge! We have to.- Global Climate Strike from September 20-27: https://globalclimatestrike.net - Wordlwide Rebellion from October 7-18: https://rebellion.global Thank you for supporting our work and making it possible to reach so many people with these urgent messages. That's all from me for now.  I'll catch you all soon for our next podcast / video.  Giordano & teamVIDEO LINKS:YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOmdkN6MOwUFacebook video: https://www.facebook.com/thejuicemedia/videos/374580213465298/Twitter video:  https://twitter.com/thejuicemedia/status/1168771110814437377?s=20 And for those of you who don't want to share the video because of the language, we've created a PG version too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbhwJZ8M9dg

Honest Government Ad | We're F**ked

The Government™ has made an ad about the state of the world, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative. Yep, that's it a nutshell :|

Thanks for covering the prestos in particular, kudos on the delivery as always.

Allthough I kinda knew the content beforehand, the video is painful and made me cry. I think that that's a good thing.

Thanks Giordano! My work intersects with climate change, so I've read up on these issues. New York Times Magazine's August 2018 epic, "Losing Earth: The Decade We Almost Stopped Climate Change" makes it clear that our chance to stop catastrophic climate change occurred between 1979 and and 1989. Clearly, we missed that opportunity. Charles Eisenstein eloquently sums up our state of affairs in his 2018 book "Climate: A New Story;" the earth is dying.

You're welcome Will. Sure, we might have missed the chance to keep temperatures below 1.5C - and probably even 2C. But as I am sure you're aware, we have to ensure they don't go even higher than that. So in a sense, it's never too late to act!

Thanks Giordano, the truth needs to be told even though it is so disturbing. But let's get out on the streets and do everything we can to turn this train wreck around. I agree it's not too late to take action even though it might be before too long!

That looks like wesome work you're doing, Will - thank you for helping!

I agree we're fucked. I realised this in 2013 after checking out the science. What saddens and frustrates me is how almost all on the real left seem to think veganism is some "personal choice" and that it is not necessary to be vegan (not only for nonviolence) in order to seriously address the climate emergency. Has anyone watched the documentary Cowspiracy.com? It's what made Pulitzer prize recipient Chris Hedges go vegan. It is a powerful documentary. It is clear that all large green groups including 350 & Bill McKibben and Extinction Rebellion completely ignore animal agriculture being a major driver of the climate emergency. According to 2009 report by WorldWatch institute it is 51% of GHG. But there is a most recent report, the largest study to date. Extinction rebellion not only ignores animal agriculture as a major driver, but it apparently tries to shut down discussion about it. ER considers itself to be edgy and radical, but apparently for the organisers veganism is the other “inconvenient truth”. Why? Because all these large green organisations do not want to challenge their non-vegan donors. They want donations. And when I see otherwise intelligent folks ignoring the moral imperative – veganism- it seems their taste buds are more important than their own survival. I despair somewhat. My reason for being vegan (15 years) is because we do not have a right to torture and kill 1 to 3 trillion land and aquatic sentient animals every year for mostly trivial reasons of palate pleasure. We don’t need animal products (meat, dairy, eggs, fish etc) to survive. We can easily meet all our nutrition requirements from plants (and other non-animal sources). So the only reason we are consuming animal products is because we think they “taste good”. That’s morally unjustifiable. I accepted a while ago that we are fucked. Government and corporations are not going to do anything. In fact they are going the other way. But I still do what I can to promote vegan education, to do local political activism, and I do think all we have left is non-violent civil disobedience. But what I find hard to take is how the majority of the left continue to ignore this issue or at best downplay it as if we can do it later, after we get politicians to do what we want them to do, or when capitalism ends, or whatever. Good luck with that ;-) But It’s important to keep pushing. But we do not need permission to be vegan by anyone. We do not need to wait for anyone's permission. We can walk and chew gum at the same time. We can be vegan, AND we can do nonviolent civil disobedience or whatever we think we turn this around. But to be honest, I do not know how anyone can view the following science, or watch Cowspiracy, or Seaspiracy.org (Check this account out : instragram.com/seaspiracy ) and not be moved to go vegan. I truly don't. “The study, published in the journal Science, created a huge dataset based on almost 40,000 farms in 119 countries and covering 40 food products that represent 90% of all that is eaten. It assessed the full impact of these foods, from farm to fork, on land use, climate change emissions, freshwater use and water pollution (eutrophication) and air pollution (acidification). “A vegan diet is probably the single biggest way to reduce your impact on planet Earth, not just greenhouse gases, but global acidification, eutrophication, land use and water use,” said Joseph Poore, at the University of Oxford, UK, who led the research. “It is far bigger than cutting down on your flights or buying an electric car,” he said, as these only cut greenhouse gas emissions. The new research shows that without meat and dairy consumption, global farmland use could be reduced by more than 75% – an area equivalent to the US, China, European Union and Australia combined – and still feed the world. Loss of wild areas to agriculture is the leading cause of the current mass extinction of wildlife.” Anyway, anyone who ignores the above science, is simply a science denier at this stage. I hope folks will consider going vegan and them promote veganism. It will probably not stop our imminent extinction, but it will mitigate some of the catastrophe for other animals.
