Dear PatronsLike you, I've been watching aghast as these fires have inflicted devastation and violence on a scale hard to comprehend. I've been itching to make an Honest Government Ad about our government's incompetence and negligence in handling the situation. It's such an unfamiliar feeling for me not to be able to rip into this piece of shit Government when something like this happens... But I couldn't, coz for most of January I've been far from our studio.  And no, I wasn't in bloody Hawai'i! We were in Western Australia visiting Lucy's family, getting a little rest after what has been a massive year. And damn. We really needed that short break. We needed a bit of time to spend as a family after the birth of our second child, Juno. (If you missed that news, you might enjoy watching our end of year video!)And a bit of time to take care of ourselves... to get round to some of the little things - going to the doctor, having our bicycles serviced, enrolling Luca in swimming lessons, getting back to people - that just pile up during the year. But now I'm back at my desk - refreshed, recharged and ready to hit the road running with a new year of Honest Government Ads.So tell me, what shitfuckery do you want to see us cover in 2020? What are the top issues that you'd like to see us infuse with a bit of honesty?A reminder that even though there was no January video, by the end of the year we'll have made 12 new Honest Government Ads, so it will still average out as 1 video per month. And of course if we can, we'll do more than that. In 2019 we made 14 :)I hope you also managed to carve out some time to rest and recharge over the break, so that you can take on the new year. And if you have been impacted directly by the fires, I hope with all my heart that you and your loved ones are safe.Catch you all very soon for our first Honest Government Ad of the year.xo Giordano & fam

so so so good to hear you've been taking care of yourself. Glad to have you back ❤️❤️ All my love to everyone hurt by the wildfires

Chris Adair

It’s good that you’re all recharged, great to have you back.

It is so important to care for each other as we all deal with so many horrible things going on in Australia. So glad to hear you had a lovely time back home in WA, I'm from Perth.

Jane Murf

Glad you all had a well deserved break. The Sports Club funding rort is crying out for some honest government advertising. (Though it may be difficult to beat the real thing!)

In terms of what to focus on, I would suggest Labor and Liberals commitment to fossil fuel despite the climate science explicit call for all fossil fuel mining to stop including fracking to gas. Santos were a big donor to Liberals. Will Steffen and Mark Howden are two climate scientists whose work can be accessed online. Added to this Transparency International anticorruption organisation has a chapter in Australia that is loaded with mining influences. Needless to say, there is no criticism from Australia chapter on anti corruption. I would also suggest that any work by government that goes against climate science facts of causes of temperature increase, should be counted as corruption. Sorry there is so much in this.

Lastly, your last ad was a big hit, my friends and family loved it, as did I.

Speaking of shitfuckery, the impeachment "trial" in the USA wins the prize.

Peter Todd

Great to hear that you guys had some time out, very well deserved and daresay it would have been a relief to get a little breathing space over here in WA. There is so much low hanging fruit when it comes to the in/actions of this hopeless government at the moment - and a lot of it has been over-covered by the media. I think the angle you come from rather than the topic is what will make the difference. Something that may be worth having a look into is the actual distribution of all the money donated to various charities and, maybe more-so, what's been promised by the F government, when it comes to bushfire aid / relief. All the best as always, so good to have you back :)

Guys, welcome back and its great to see you again. Congratulations on the new arrival, I hope you are sleeping OK! Well, what a summer eh? Honestly, since late November there has been so much incompetence, corruption and general shitfuckery from this crowd we are forced to call a "Government", I dont know where to start! I have been trying to identify the golden thread that ties all of this together, and its really hard because it can seem overwhelming - but I guess the whole corruption thing is what bothers me much, because it explains so much else. The nexus between paying off party donors, looking after mates and keeping Murdoch on side all seems to come back to this central theme. The recent agreement with the NSW Government on putting more LNG into the power generation system is a classic example - its a payoff to Santos dressed up as a climate initiative. I suppose one thing I think is worth focusing on is how we, the voters let them get away with this (by re-electing these fuckheads) , and they are so used to it now that we have actually ceased to matter. We need to get the people angry and engaged. The bushfire season we have just had has started that process, but will it last for the next 2 1/2 years? I think that if the corruption theme and its centrality to their behaviour, and what it tells us what they actually think of the voters will open eyes, and maybe keep people engaged.

Wish I could help but alas we have been done over by fires, drought, storms and never ending shitfuckery at every level, maybe a primer on Barnaby and his gem talking to the big bloke in the sky as he shovelled hay for a moment there I though it was a Juice vid. So I guess no shortage of material. Planet burning add more fuel get more gas, forests destroyed need more burning and logging, no water build another dam fuck another ecosystem, community clubs best we only help out those who have had a go not those who need a go. Or a just thanks to all of us sane folk who somehow have managed to stay that way. Over to you. Glad you had a break and a recharge of the batteries 2020 is going to be a wild ride.

Mike Hart

Oh and every little piece last year has been an absolute delight, fun, insightful and a much needed stop to the never ending madness outside. If Patreon support helps glad to.

Sports Rorts, I reckon.

David Harris

It is comforting that even the Murdoch press is getting into the Sports Rorts. I find in unbelievable that there is even the possibility of the Minister staying in position, but then, I couldn't believe that Trump would survive either.

Jay Wilson

Great pic!  Glad those Sandgropers let ya leave. Maybe you should just move the family to Pemberton and live happily ever after, no? (stirring of course). Topics for 2020? In no particular order my suggestions would be... 1) getting stuck into the global financial system. From what I hear Extinction Rebellion is going to be focusing on that and gawd bless Jane, Naomi and all the 'Stop the Money Pipeline' people who have already been ratcheting up the pressure by getting arrested in DC on Fridays. I'm personally thinking of having "What good is money if you don't have a planet to spend it on?" tattooed across my forehead. But I hate pain and needles so that probably won't happen. 2) Sky News Australia and Alan Jone and Andrew Bolt? Seriously, they should be put on trial in the Court of Public Opinion for knowingly peddling porkies. If they were used car salesmen making those sort of false claims they'd be done for fraud. And it occurred to me that if you poisoned a few vanilla slices at Woolies you'd do time. How about poisoning someone's mind, shouldn't that be a crime too? 3) Let's talk critters... the world just loves those dumb-ass koalas so let's exploit their supposed cuteness to draw attention to the f---wits in Govt who still permit land clearing and cutting down native forests. Hello... can anyone spell "ecological emergency" and better yet... will anyone in authority actually take meaningful action and implement some sane "as from now" policies. And if it takes us photoshoping Greta holding a baby koala crying then I say, "let's do it!" Pshew... thanks for letting me vent. Wishing you all the best for 2020, love and rage from Nymbodia via San Francisco!

Welcome Back - I hope you're all feeling refreshed! I particularly your videos which contrast those positive things which compete with all the shit-fu**kery - eg Quiet Australians. So now there's lots of positive movements going on for both contrast as well as to show the way forwards: eg Wellbeing Economy Alliance, RepresentUS, Citizens Juries in Belgium, human rights legislation re climate change etc etc. Could be nice to do a piece re our prime minister and australia's overseas reputation against NZ primeminister (and others like scotland, Iceland etc etc... All the best for the rest of this year :)

Why aren't their instruments to hold corrupt Governments and corrupt election activities accountable. The Australian Electoral Commission found 87 cases of election advertising breeching the law and yet none were actionable? WTF? The Sports Rorts were a clear and concrete example of tax payers' monies spent to influence an election outcome, mining interests, Palmer, Rinehart, IPA, virtually bought this election outcome...and Murdoch Media and other media were not held to an journalistic standards essential to a democratic and fair operation of the Fourth Estate. While the current focus on the Bridget Mckenzie's resignation .... in really only a dunce would not believe the whole LNP government was complicit and the whole Government should resign. Let's climb out of the box...and address accountability and what kind of measure can be taken to enforce it....the AEC is a fucking is a toothless joke...and there is no facility to hold the Political Criminals to account.

Ideas for this year: Israel/Palestine (I'm currently reading Arthur Hertzebrg's "The Zionist Idea"). Uyghur Muslims in China (I'm currently reading "Arabs" by Tim MacKintosh-Smith). There's a great story here on the surveillance state. Debt relief (there are some things continuing to happen in the US with student debt relief).

Andrew Chapman

I would love to see you take on the deficit from an MMT perspective. Fazi’s “Reclaiming the State” is an excellent starting point. Essentially, the deficit is largely irrelevant, even necessary, but the rich use it to beat the citizenry by reducing services and reducing taxes at the top end. You have a lot of reach, and people are entirely misled about the nature of money.

Karlstens

As I don't live in a JuiceMedia marginal electorate seat, I don't believe my suggestions will be of any relevance to your world domination Illuminati agenda. :(

Craig Cooper

I think Angus Taylor and Peter Dutton could use some more attention. They are both undeservedly out of the news lately. Angus could go along with a piece about the sale of water rights more generally. As for Dutto he's been very quiet lately. Really, what is he up to?

Jeremy Burke

A compilation of the funding rorts - so sports rorts (obvs), the religious rorts under the guise of protection. Am sure there's other dodgy commonwealth grants being punted around

Nick Vaccari

Very much looking forward to your return :) Would love to see a comparative piece on ScoMo vs Jacinda Ardern

Something about the importance of supporting active citizenry and aimed at the way Labor puts down activists and active citizenry and that this is what has got us - over time - into this particular version of the mess. My conversations with people come back to this . That without active citizens able to use active nonviolence and other community based values, we are unable to hold them to account to any of their measly reforms and regulations any way -. So they totally benefit from putting any body active down. So that Labor party in Qld has for 25 years suppressed any body that spoke against it in an significant or interesting way.. Reveal the shitfuckery of Labor Qld and how they got us into this shit by funding small environment centres and populating them with their own people and then telling people to shut the fuck up about any thing. bad. grrrrrrr.
