Dear PatronsLook who popped in to have a chat with me on the Juice Media Podcast! It took me some time to get this podcast up because Noam's schedule was full for almost two months from the time I invited him! But despite the lag, this is the podcast companion to our Honest Government Ad from July - about Donald Trump's presidential campaign: TRUMP 2020.By the way, that Honest Government Ad went viral with about 8 million views across our platforms in just the first week, earning praise from Chuck-D, Jason Alexander, Thom Yorke, Edward Norton and other legends. So I just wanted to say thank you - especially our Aussie Patrons - for supporting our US-themed Honest Government Ads.And to help us understand the significance of this election and just how high the stakes are right now for humanity, and democracy, I couldn't think of a better person to have as my guest on the podcast, than Noam Chomsky -  world-renowned intellectual, linguist, activist and political dissident (and all-round kind, generous human). It would be a comical understatement to say I am truly honoured that he accepted my invitation to share his time with us on the podcast. Chomsky has been such an inspiration to me - as I am sure he has been for many of you, too. So the chance to share some words with him will be something I'll always cherish.I asked Noam about the unfolding trainwreck of the 2020 US election, the state of humanity, the breakdown of democracy, the rise of conspiracy theories, the prosecution of Julian Assange, the role of satire; and what helps to keep him going amidst all this shitfuckery. There was so much more I would've liked to ask him. But I was also conscious of not taking up too much of his time. So that was all I could fit in!I really hope you enjoy this interview and if you do please share it with others whom you think would get something out of it.As always, thank you so much, Patrons, for making the Juice Media Podcast and the Honest Government Ads possible. We'll be back very soon with our next installment in the 'noble tradition' of genuine satire.Giordano xo

Dr Krieger

Excellent get Giordano! Well done. Chomsky is excellent, only issue is he supports lesser evil voting...and that essentially means Biden in the current set of circumstances. Thanks for keeping us juiced!

Loquacious B

Wow! This warms my black and red little anarchist heart! Can't wait to hear it. P.S. I'm totes jelly G.

martensJD

You definitely do our shit government justice. Thanks!

KJM

What a treasure-trove of information and a beacon of light Dr Chomsky is! Although I fear for his health

Kim Ryan

Great interview, thanks JM! Is it just me or does anyone else feel calmer just listening to Noam speak? So much wisdom and insight.

Robert Alan Jenkins

HE MAY BE GETTING NEAR THE END OF HIS TIME BUT HIS THINKING AND WORDS WILL STRETCH INTO THE FUTURE.

Ellejoy W

Great interview Giordano, I too feel very grateful for Noams perspective, however there is just so much anxiety and depression flowing deep in so many people, I just keep wondering if the steps we can take will collectively help turn the world around from neoliberal shitfuckery. Environmental destruction, democratic destruction, a global pandemic - the list just gets worse (It seems.) But while we can, we have to keep fighting.

Marc Pengryffyn

I studied Chomsky as a linguist back in the '70s - such a mover of paradigms! And then I fell in love with his politics and activism. Congratulations on the interview!

Wild Cities

That is a beautiful interview. Noam Chomsky is so clear, everything he says is so considered and sane. Thank you Giordano and the Juice people!

Hilary

Absolutely Superb!!! <3 Thank You <3

Andre Burki

A 'must' look/hear - thank you for this exceptional

Andre Burki

A "Must-Watch" - thank you and Noam Chomsky for doing it so respectful and factual. An exceptional 'Non-Satire' - Congratulations on your ability to switch to this most appropriate style.

Annabelle Corley

Such an emotive interview thank you Giordano we are blessed to hear from someone with such dignity and intelligence

Gareth Broadbent

Incredible work you are doing Giordano. Truly. I’ve been frantically making notes through all that. Giordano I am working for an eco fashion brand I would like to help your message. Can I get in touch with you somehow?

Milan Dare

Wonderful interview. For those harder of hearing it will be good to correct the subtitling, eg. "covid" becomes "covered", and several more. Also separate lines by different speakers. No doubt you plan to do this anyway. So - wonderful interview!

Scott Hend

Vote Trump and accelerate

thejuicemedia

I agree! It's like a meditation on shitfuckery - soothing and alarming in equal measure

thejuicemedia

Thank you Marc, so glad you got to study Noam's work in linguistics - that's a whole other world where he contributed so much to our understanding of ourselves <3

thejuicemedia

Thankyou Andre - yes, the podcast is a great counterbalance to the videos :)

thejuicemedia

Thank you Annabelle, so glad it moved you - i definitely felt emotional at times!

thejuicemedia

Thank you Gareth, so glad you got so much out of it. Yes, you can reach me at giordano@thejuicemedia.com

thejuicemedia

Thanks Milan, yes we'll do our best to fix the captions - it's quite a job but we'll get round to it!

CS1

Lovely to see you working with Noam again after all these years!

thejuicemedia

Hehe nice to see someone remembers our last collaboration with Noam (back in 2011!)

Frank Mueller

Always wonderful to hear Noam Chomsky. Very nicely done interview. One could see that you were at the brink of being overcome by emotion - as would I be! But you held it together. Well done!

Mark D Larsen

A truly bittersweet podcast! Bitter to review and recognize the threats that are on the verge of overwhelming all of us: pandemic, the climate crisis already here, nuclear destruction, and the purposeful undermining of democracy. Yet sweet to hear Chomsky once again clearly expose this reality with calm, intelligent, experienced, knowledgeable eloquence. He is right that there are, nonetheless a few sparks of hope in the surrounding darkness: the younger generation who will have to face a future they didn't create, people who can stand together to protest the threats, and satirists like you who help expose the truth like 21st century court jesters. Thank you for helping me to keep going!

Robert Bismuth

Such a powerful message from Professor Chomsky. Please thank him for agreeing to be on the podcast. And, thank you Giordano for everything you do and publish. It is a tribute to your success in the "noble profession of satire" that someone of Professor Chomsky's stature would take time to speak with you, and thus with us all.

Robert Bismuth

In terms of Professor Chomsky's message, it is (in my very humble opinion) spot on. His calm and informed approach demonstrates a credibility that is (also in my very humble opinion) unquestionable in terms of facts, logic and conclusion. I was particularly drawn to his reference to Howard Zinn, sadly no longer with us. As he said, and Professor Chomsky elaborated, it is people in the end who make the difference - people who stand up to oppression without recognition but with great effect. Without people rising up, the current trend in the world towards self interest, greed and the control of power necessary to sustain that self interest and greed will continue unchecked resulting in the end of our civilization and likely the end of all life on our one small planet. Failing to oppose such people, failing to realize that we can only achieve success, meaning not only give everyone the chance to prosper but also basically survive, if we come together and tirelessly reverse the current trends. Silence is not an option. Not recognizing that we must oppose the self interested leaders in our world (and not just in the US but also in the UK, Australia, Russia, India, Brazil, Belarus and too many other countries to list here) is also not an option. We have one planet and we really have just one society, one civilization, on that planet no matter where we live or what our backgrounds are. Thank you Professor Chomsky for reminding us to stand up, be counted, speak and to not lose our world. Thank you for also pointing out that our youth are very much fighting this good fight with the rest of us, including our senior citizens. And, thank you again Girodano and the team at The Juicemedia for helping us fight this fight with your awesome productions.

Sandy Pimm

I appreciate that you addressed the activism burn-out we experience- with rays of hope - like our incredible young people!

Giordano I'm sitting here listening to this momentous podcast and checking out the tomes in my library bookcase - Masters of Mankind, Hopes and Prospects, Power and Terror, Optimism over Despair. Noam has been a key influence on my thinking and my life over many decades too. What an emeritus mind he has. I wholly concur with you - yes I am one of those thousands you could speak for when you say to Noam "you have been a guiding light in this age of obscene injustice and inequality so in the most sincere way I just wanted to say "Thank you". Thank you too HGA team.

Redreamer - Wendy Bandurski

Somehow I grew up in a world where Chomsky was so important in my education and perspective of the human world. Thank you juice media for always being so very aware

thejuicemedia

I did get a bit emotional at times! Thank you Frank <3

thejuicemedia

Thanks Sandy.. yes, I think it's important to acknowledge how hard it can get to deal with these issues frot on, on a daily basis <3

thejuicemedia

You're welcome E - i've had a number of people writing to say they appreciated the collective Thank-You to Noam <3

Redreamer - Wendy Bandurski

I recognized that in you, must be that pesky humanities degree! ;) But i also noticed your emotional overwhelm and felt it was a very powerful podcast - I cannot imagine how personally challenging that must have been... my heart was in my mouth a bit too. So thank you for that - for asking the hard and deep questions.... and especially for mentioning Julian.

Ian Ossher

An excellent interview Giordano, thank you and well done to have such an illustrious guest whose wisdom and views were a sombre appraisal of the state of government in the ‘free’ world, shackled now by the neoliberal agenda that is destroying democracy, human rights and the environment. I eagerly anticipate the participation now of a young and engaged electorate around the world. I live in hope. Keep doing your brilliant satire.

DLam

Excellent, beautiful, significant interview- Fabulous to see 'Inspirations,' originating in different eras, working together at such a defining moment. 'History is happening'. I got more than a bit emotional. (He 's been my hero since I was a youth in the 70s)

Paul Elwell-Sutton

Noam's remarks about the reaction of some of his friends to the faked plandemic article by him, and the reason, 40 years of neoliberalism, behind well-informed and educated persons falling for conspiracy theories etc, really hit home for me. I look forward to more great wisdom on your podcasts Giordano, and I'm not looking to be entertained.

thejuicemedia

Thank you Paul - I'm glad it spoke to you, sure did for me too

thejuicemedia

(And nice to know you're happy not to be entertained - it's nice to do the podcasts in part because there's no pressure to have to be funny all the time!!)

thejuicemedia

Yes, I did get a bit emotional, I really felt quite melancholic throughout the interview!!! <3

Mark Hormann

A great interview, very inciteful & full of a lifetime of Chomsky wisdom... I particularly liked his final quote attributed to Howard Zinn - as it acknowledges the responsibility we all have (no matter how large or small), to continue to contribute to the struggles facing us - as a collective force (visible or not).

DLam

Can we have one Authorized by ‘the spirit of RBG’ ?

thejuicemedia

Thank you Mark. We loverd the recollection of Howard Zinn's quote too! <3

Robyn Knobel

Wow! Well done Giordano. Great interview. What an amazing man Noam Chomski is .His calm ,rational and deeply intelligent responses were an inspiration. The despair and depression we are feeling in these times are oppressive. This truly is momentous time in the history of mankind, and I am staggered that many people do not seem to realise what is at stake.Extremely concerned about the elections in the USA , and the general erosion of democracy that is evident in England and now in Australia . The Murdoch media control in these countries can be seen to be a toxic and dangerous influence..Have loved your brilliant satire from the very beginning, and wish you world wide success.

thejuicemedia

Thank you for sharing these reflections on the podcast, Robyn. I hear you <3
