Dear PatronsHere's the audio preview for our next Government Ad. This one is for all our Aussie Patrons who have been so patient while we've been focusing on the USA in our last few videos! As you know we are currently focusing on the USA as we approach the election there in just a few weeks. But as our economy heads into a steep recession, a number of important policies are being introduced by our dear Australien Government which deserve attention, namely: cuts to Jobseeker/Jobkeeper as we head into a steep recession, bringing forward tax cuts for the rich, cuts to the Environment Act (EPBC) and above all, the so-called Gas-led recovery - which we flagged in our last Aussie HGA "Economic recovery".While we're at it, I thought this would be a good opportunity to also rip into the Libs' favourite myth about being "good at managing the economy".   I hope you enjoy it, and I'll be back in a few days with the video!PS. Next US video is also on the way - I've written an HGA about QAnon (I am barely still sane).Giordano xo

Australian Government, putting the 'n' back in cuts.

Jaime Marjanovich

"The biggest bunch of 'cuts' you've ever seen." 😂

Jeremy Mowe

Really great honest govt ad. Simplifies and calls out the truth as to what is happening.

George

Love it. And what a bunch of useless Cuts... We Could become market leaders in renewable energy ... but No, they’re teeing up their future donors to keep them advertising their planet destroying policies... Lib Nuts, doing it for themselves and let God knows who the chosen ones are take care of the children when we’re gone.

Ed Griffith

Very good! I hope it helps both Australia and the United States make progress towards a good future.

Dairmuid M Phelan

They’re also going for hydrogen as well. Hydrogen production is not very eco friendly, but it’s being pushed by overseas interests right now. The wastefulness of gas is frightening though. Energy storage has filled the gap on the biggest concern with solar and wind. But the governments willfully ignoring the possibility. The Drum had a conversation about gas and renewable last week, a government representative trashed wind and solar immediately and gave a term for sources such as gas rather than renewables. Can’t remember what it was, but it was what sold it I think. We’re fucked, again.

Drew Boyd

Love it. N back in cuts.

Jason

Next one could be private education funding and the lovely way it grows future citizens...

Peter Todd

As on point as ever guys. When will this ever end?

Jon Bruce

This could be one of your best videos sadly because it is so true and on point. Keep keeping the bastards accountable. I only wish there was more we could do.

Wild Cities

The truth shouldn't be so funny!

Sonia D

Very informative and so sad because true as usual... yet funny because you guys have a way to hit with humour and puns which is why I support you... I can’t wait to see it live so I can share around. PS: quite scary to see what happening with the US supreme court too ... the Handmaid’s tale in the making? (Can’t wait to hear your take on QAnon too...)

geoff bunker

Great, Scummo! All we need is cuts, la, la, la-la-la...

MC

The last line is very appropriate

Kayleen Thoren

Good one everyone. This is brilliant

Edward Pickering-Symes

Really excellent. So clear. Satire is a powerful weapon against the 'cuts' who want to use economic disaster to excuse extreme measures that look like action but are in fact making a bad situation worse. Well explained. Very funny. Love the snort!

Mary Cotter

Loved it as usual, just a tiny suggestion (if it can be fitted in succinctly) would be to explain that low-income folk spend rather than save because they need to, not because "that's why they're poor" kind of thing - probably not needed, it's probably because I've just spent a few days with a low-education, survivor of severe childhood abuse and somewhat brain-damaged friend who is exceedingly brainwashed by Murdoch propaganda, the way his brainwashed brain works does my head in, I think he's caused me to be hyper-picky about things that people such as he might misinterpret.

Noam Gressel

Great one. Unsurprisingly, the developed countries that adopted neo-liberalism show similar failure to address the health crisis and similar economic "recovery" strategies. If nothing else, this ad provides us outside Australia the comfy feeling of not being alone confronting this shitfuckery. Thanks!

John Bradbury

Not just nailing the information, but beautiful comic timing and use of shocks. 'Fuck the Koalas'! Too funny because it's such an accurate representation of the tory mindset.

Mark Hormann

"Putting the N back in 'cuts'... brilliant work as always - thank you!! hahaha

Michele Bottroff

This is why I give you my money. 🤩 Thank you for your satire it seems like the most effective way to fight the cu*ts

Luminous Being

I’m not even Australian and everything you say translates here 😂🤣😂 just as easily. Roll on the satire, viva the #revolution or #evolution or #resistance or whatever hashtag marketing says the focus groups prefer this week.

thejuicemedia

Hopefully at the next federal election, but who knows Peter!

thejuicemedia

That's a very good suggestion, thank you Mary! I'll see what we can do. How would you phrase it in a pithy way so as to make the point without leaving it open to misinterpretation?

Mark D Larsen

This is about Australia instead of the USA? Could've fooled me. Can't wait to see Zoë snort at her own P.R. lie. Looks like the shutfuckery is the same at opposite ends of the globe. And speaking of which, it occurs to me that you're facing another approaching summer, with all these growing climate fueled wildfires. Stay safe, juicer team!

Mizu

Department of treachery, heh. Depressingly accurate pun.

John L Smith

Just love it! Pity it's not satire but depressingly real......:-(

Opportunistic Pigeon

Hydrogen is cool and all ONLY if it comes from a renewables-dominated grid. And there's no point investing in hydrogen as a storage medium if the energy you're storing is not renewables. And there's no point exporting hydrogen as an energy medium unless Australia has greatly more energy than it knows what to do with. Fortunately, we are the sunniest and windiest continent on earth. It would be piss easy for us to build more renewables than we knew what to do with, turn almost half of national energy into hydrogen and steel/aluminium, and export those products as a form of bottled energy to places where renewables truly aren't as practical, like China and Europe. Massive export economy, transforming our renewable resources into cold hard cash for large sectors of the economy. But NAAAAHhhh where would the coal donors benefit from in that??

Robert Bismuth

As always Giordano & team: Brilliant ... and you could replace the country name with pretty much any county in the developed world, particularly those that purport to be democracies representing their "people", of at least the people who matter (see the fine print for a definition of those who "matter", though it's pretty much the same in all countries), if not the world in general. The exact same messages work in the US (particularly here where we've shared the wildfire future vision with Oz - even in the, apparently anarchist led, Seattle), the UK, France, etc. - and each has its own Department of Treachery, under various names but always, strangely, using that same close word to "treachery", While your message is more focused (this time) on Oz, it is worth noting that Oz is part of a wider international movement that appears common across the major "democracies" in the world. One person, one vote? Oh, no, not when it comes to money in the pocket from government programs to help which, of course, only help people with money to start with. In fact, one might same, more money means you get more help - is that the democratic principle of wealth as managed by democratically elected governments. Hmmm. The root of all shitfuckery perhaps?

Opportunistic Pigeon

You spent almost half of this HGA on the gas recovery (as it should be), but I feel like the one thing it under-sells on is the phenomenal gigatonic (new word) lost opportunity cost of plowing over the best possible time to borrow and invest to just help some donors and mates, and not only destroy the recovery but also destroy everyone's financial and climactic futures. Could be mentioned in the list of "better things to do with the money" or could be entirely independant - best possible time for borrow is now. So of course we're the cuts to get us back in "black".

Mike Richards

You could have used this to describe the UK - well maybe apart from the koalas. But give the Lib/Nationals and their chainsaw buddies long enough and you'll have the same number of koalas as us.

Rick Zapf

A universal message to a universal problem. Thank you for the comedy balm.

Steve Casserly

The NT Tourist mob could have used you for their CU in the NT ads. Need to keep this stuff up in front of people cheers

Nicola Bennett

Took the plunge became a patreon. An Australian expat in the UK.. Watching it all going on from afar (but have lots of my family over there Qld, WA and NSW) . This is my little way of hopefully saving some hope for us aussies in the future. Thank you Giordano, and team/fam

Diane O'Donovan

As Putin is to Trump, so Trump is to Morrison.

thejuicemedia

Thanks Jesse. We did make this point in our Economic Recovery HGA ("throwing this opportunity into a volcano"). Will see what we can do!

thejuicemedia

Wonderful Nicola, welcome aboard thank you for supporting our work! x

Bertram Lobert

This one does 'cut' close to the bone - 'cool and normal'!

Anthony Hortin

" Putting the 'N' back in 'CUTS' ". Perfect! 👏👏👏

Edward Pickering-Symes

Good point, Mary. How about "those who can't spare the money to save" or "who don't save cos they can't afford it" or just "who don't save cos they can't"?

Mary Cotter

It's not easy, hence my great admiration for your aptitude at pithiness Juicemedia, but "they have to spend everything they get just to pay their bills and debts" is sadly the best I can do, though googling for inspiration led me to a great article (it would take a whole new video though, too complex for this one) on why some low-income folk do splash out a little on non-necessities: https://www.vice.com/en_au/article/ev3dde/most-money-advice-is-worthless

Fern

#ScottyFromMarketing is still just as woeful at his job as he's always been - I'm not the slightest bit convinced they know what they're doing. It's pretty difficult to be convinced when you're one of the demographics being actively harmed by their piss-poor attempt at governing, though...

thejuicemedia

Yeah it's hard sometimes to condense these things into a pithy phrase... I'll keep thinking about it and, if we work out a way to do it that doesn't make it too laboured, we'll tweak that line. ps. Thanks for that great article - what a great writer!

Andrew Warr

"There biggest bunch of cu#ts around" It translates just as well in Spanish..... I'll love patching this one💗

Netty Mattey

Love it! Love that snort - always a great starter. Fuck koalas! Putting the N back in cuts! Can't wait to see it go live guys! I was laughing out loud the whole way through.

Garth Taylor

Just loved it.Nailed so well with humour. Don't be surprised if the likes of Dutton comes after you!!

DB@Kambah

Nice work - but do I sense some desperation - it makes us all laugh but.....

Hot30 with Matty

Great work as always, its in this weeks Hot 30 now on 52 Aussie stations
