Dear PatronsHere's the podcast companion for our latest Honest Government Ad. I have the perfect guest to help us unpack the federal budget which has just been handed down by government: economist Richard Denniss - one of my favourite commentators on the Australian political scene.Richard has the uncommon ability to talk about budgets and fiscal policies in an engaging and funny way, so I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who finds economics confusing (or boring as shit). As Richard explains, economics is made to sound complicated and boring by design; which is why his work focuses on increasing economic literacy so that more people can understand what's really going on. I've used Richard's work when researching the Honest Government Ads, and now I am stoked to have him on the podcast and introduce him to all of you, too.If you enjoy this podcast, please share it with your family and friends - especially your Liberal-voting family and friends :)Thanks to Ellen for helping me to edit the podcast and get it published as quickly as possible. And of course a huge thank you to all of you, our awesome Patrons, for supporting this work. I'll catch you soon for our next Honest Government Ad - in which we return to the monumental shitshow that is the coming US election. Giordano & teamJuice Podcast 16 | with Richard Denniss

Great interview & a good primer on political economics! Thank you again!

I'm gobsmacked how similar our countries are… and how poorly our citizens apply critical thinking to their governments, their politicians, their economies. So many are mesmerized by the "ads." Rather than Coca-Cola, they accept as gospel truth such obvious falsehoods as… "job creators" and "trickle-down." The whole approach is to "Razzle-Dazzle 'em." I sure wish Richard would post an analysis of what's happening here with TrumpleThinSkin. He really is brilliant! Thank you for posting this interview!

It's almost as if there's a common script they're reading from....

Robert Anton Wilson used to say "I believe nothing, but I have many suspicions."

Juice Media meets Australia Institute. Both of you are enriching the understanding and lives of many- 5,000 for Richard’s economics course! Coronavirus brought us AI webinars- treated to expert opinions and exchange we’d rarely be party to. Heartfelt thanks to G&R for the podcast. Let’s share widely in the hope of cutting the bullshit, the cynical, immoral ‘clever’ and informing the electorate to vote wisely and morally at the next election.

Totally agree Sandra - I've really been enjoying the Economics of a Pandemic webinar series facilitated by AI. So glad to see JM stitching AI into the conversation - "economic" literacy is critical to moving beyond the inertia of atrophying capitalism and crony governance.

You are very welcome Sandra! And yes, I've also enjoyed a number of those AI seminars!
