Hello from Vancouver, BC 🍁 (Patreon)
Content
Greetings from the unceded Indigenous lands of British Columbia, Canada.Thank you for all the comments you sent on my last post, which I published from New York. My time here is almost up, I fly back to Melbourne tomorrow - but my time here has been truly awesome. In Toronto, I had the honour of sharing my experience of writing satire about climate change, with a super talented group of comedians - who will be creating climate-related satire about Canada's shitfuckery for the next three years. (A groundbreaking project funded by the Trottier Family Foundation which I hope will be emulated in other parts of the world). (Thank you JP!)I also managed to take a quick trip to the Niagara Falls!I dropped in to Edmonton, Alberta - where I visited my cousins and made sure not to vist The Mall. And now I am writing to you from Vancouver. Where... what to say, I've just been blown away by the natural beauty of this place. And the art - especially the Indigenous art. But today was the most most memorable day of all because I had the honour of interviewing one of my long-time heroes for the Juice Media Podcast.David Suzuki gave a public lecture at the University of Western Australia in about 1998. I was an undergrad student there at the time, and his words inspired me deeply - as they have so many others. He is truly one of the great guides of our generation. So I can't quite put into words how special it was for me that he accepted my invitation for an interview. And as if that wasn't enough, we were also joined by David's daughter, Severn Cullis-Suzuki (who famously at the age of 12 roasted international delegates at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. Something Greta would have to do again 30 years later). I made sure to give David a special edition of our Department of Shitfuckery t-shirt - which we had printed in green just for him. You'll see when I publish the podcast! But first I have to finish writing the video I came here to research - an Honest Government Ad for Canada 🇨🇦Tomorrow is my last day here and I will truly miss this beautiful place and the people I've met. But I also cannot wait to be back with Lucy, Luca and Juno. I'll catch you all very soon with this month's Honest Government Ad. Until then - take care!Giordano
