Dear PatronsI hope you are having a good weekend. Especially our Patrons in the northern hemisphere who have been experiencing the latest round of heatwaves and fires. Our latest HGA will be relevant to you too, despite it being about Australia and the Pacific Region. That's because Australia has put its hand up to host the 2026 UNFCCC conference, aka COP31. And those of you remember our HGA about Australia's long history of undermining COP summits, will appreciate the irony. The decision about who will host COP31 will be announced in a few months. So I thought this would be a good time for Australia to make an honest COP31 ad about its bid. And here's the audio preview. As always, our Patrons are always the first ones to hear it - so let me know if you have any feedback in the comments. I'm also taking Patreon suggestions for the Authorised By message at the end, so if you have some good ideas, drop'em in the comments below! That's all for now, I'll get back to editing the HGA so that we can publish it in a day or two. Till then, take care. Giordano

Just about fell out of my La-Z-Boy at 40ish seconds in! Did I hear: Cuntanese, the official language of the Australian government? 😅😂🤣🤣🤣😍🥰😘

I stopped banging my head against the wall long enough to laugh despairingly at this. If anything can cut through the bullshit, it's the Juice Media! Thanks Guys!

As always, this HGA is great as is. However, it might be worthwhile adding some reference to current events regarding the hypocrisy of the COPs and global community of nations at large. Besides being used by all industrialized countries to celebrate anecdotes that serve to mask inaction, the upcoming COP 28 is a glaring example of how low the bar is on climate integrity of COP hosts. Many NGOs will not be attending this year, protesting the handover of the COP to the oil industry. In this respect, Australia aims to join a "coveted" club. Might be valuable pointing this out.

Thanks for the great feedback Noam. I did make a reference to COP28 at the end (this will be more obvious when you can see the visuals!). But I agree with your point and I hope to make an HGA that focuses on how the COPs have been undermined and captured by fossil fuel interests

Timely...I hanging for the completion ... and to tag Tanya and Albo as many times as I can. I'm so sick of them playing LNP Lite and being spineless as an overcooked noodle. I don't know if they can actually fell shame but we'll try our damnest. Thanks Team for all you do.

Great work as always. I despair at how the world puts up with our weasel words (lies). COPs are to a large extent a cop-out letting countries big note themselves while shafting the world population. Unfortunately, Labor is just the lipstick on the pig, still approving new coal and gas, still destroying critical habitat and chopping down native forests. They're just a smoother brand of bullshit.

Martin Linger

Don't worry, hosting COP will do nothing to your reputation - the last one was in Egypt and they received lots of stick for it.

Philip Rhoades

Just fucking brilliant! - as always! - please don't stop until we win . . assuming we are still around by then . .

John Englart

Thanks for mentioning the big fuck you on shipping emissions. You might also want to reference Australia joined the 'Climate Club' but Albanese didn't answer the question how that fits with fossil fuel expansion. Details: https://takvera.blogspot.com/2023/07/australia-joins-climate-club-but-pm.html Same week High Ambition Coalition came out with a statement what real ambition looks like... needless to say Australia did not sign. Australia belatedly joined the High Ambition Coalition in the final days of COP21 in 2015 in a tweet from Julie Bishop to me. The subtle irony of Australia's actions is brilliantly presented.

Love it! Brought to you by DCCEEW [D-Q] the department of climate complacency, environmental evasion, and whitewashing.

Love your work. A special mention for cuntenese, the one word that beautifully encapsulates the behaviour of consecutive Australian Governments. (I made a point to add that one to the dictionary.)

Mark D Larsen

As always… a bullseye 🎯 Which leaves me close to tears. 🥺

Once I'd stopped laughing I was like "is that racist, I can't tell any more". If it comes from climate wariors I'm sure it's fine 😅

David Bishton

The major world cuntries, I mean countries, cannot seem to understand that subsidizing and allowing more extraction to keep fossil fuels cheap is exactly why the damage will get worse. One step forward and two steps back is no way to transition to renewables. When these fossil projects are stopped, renewable energy is even more attractive economically as well as critically beneficial to the planet we all share. Just one more project? No means no.

Suggestion for Department name: Department of Canape Prioritisation Ueber Alles. Great job, as always!

Absolutely spot on. Like with a number of your magical creations I don't know whether laugh or cry. Keep them coming :-)

C*ntonese was a particularly inspired wordplay. You are champions of exposing the toxic absurdity that is routinely passed off as normality. Thank you again for all you do ❤️

To quote a line from a 1990's hit movie - 'Point Break'... "100% Utaaaah!" ;-)
