Dear PatronsHere's the latest Honest Government Ad you've helped us to produce!

As I mentioned when I shared the preview, this HGA is a bit different to our usual ones: rather than focusing on a specific policy, country, or issue, it aims to capture the political dilemma facing our Labor Government - caught as it is between the promises it made at the last election (stage 3 tax cuts, no reforms to tax loopholes on housing; no taxing of gas windfall profits; weaker emission target; expanding coal and gas, etc etc.) and the pressure it is under from voters - especially new, young voters - to take stronger action on the housing, cost of living and climate crises.

I've evidently become a massive political nerd because I find this tension incredibly interesting. But the reason I find it interesting is that I think it will be the defining political dynamic that takes us into the next election. Which (reminder) has to lead to more action on the climate and housing crises somehow. Those of you who watched our end of year video might remember that I spoke about all this then. As I said at the time, I'd like Labor to succeed at dealing with these crises. So this is my attempt to distill those thoughts into the format of an Honest Government Ad which I hope will increase peoples' understanding of what's happening. Some folks may interpret this as a political attack on Labor. But the truth is it's an appeal to help them. I understand the political challenges they face. So this HGA tries to suggest a way for people - especially Labor supporters - to help it overcome those challenges.Thank you to everyone who sent me feedback on the preview! And as always, thank you to all our Patrons for supporting our work. We never take it for granted, and certainly not during these turbulent times. Giordano & team xoDirect link to video here

Mate I just listened to the audio-only version 10 minutes ago and then you release the version with video? Sigh.

Jason Wotzko

Stop patting us on the D... it only makes it harder 🤣

E

Nice Giordano & Team. It does seem easier to remain Shit Lite when Shit remains unambiguously Shit. As someone routinely voting "Not Shit" I'd love to see Shit Lite in minority.

PrisonMike

I love that you guys are not just bagging on Labor all the time, and seeing how they feel, after losing an election twice because the policies were “not shit” at all during 2019.

Philip Rhoades

Love it! Laughed out loud the whole way through again!

Michael Regan

The video is, so to say, more 'visual.'

Kris Clark

If *only* there was a Department for Soul Searching!

Mark

I was actually disappointed that they managed a majority with the smallest such primary vote in Australian history.

Mark D Larsen

"Stop patting us on the dick for it. It'll only make us harder"…! 😂 Ah, but no worries: what they're offering as "Lite" will eventually "trickle down," right?

Ellejoy W

But but but ... where's the fuck all calculator?!

Mark william lane

Shitty as always, congratulations on a fine movement report! Lol

thejuicemedia

Haha it will be back we’re just getting it reinforced for upcoming shitfuckery

Ellejoy W

If only Labor wasn't busy executing shitty anti protest policies (among other shitfuckery). How do we collectively encourage Labor to be less shit? (or even better ... not shit at all)

Robert Bismuth

Well, talk about multidimensional sentences ... being shit lite to hide in the center of shit light while delivering shitty shit light policies but dreaming at night about not being in the shit at all ... brilliant writing and also acting! Tough to get all those lines so perfectly delivered, I'll bet! And here I thought the US Congress had a lead on being truly in the shitter ... clearly there's competition down under! Thanks JuiceMedia for your collective brilliance once again!

thejuicemedia

Well, collectively we can do that at an election. But there's ways people can encourage Labor to be less shit on a more individual level in the meantime, whether it be by writing to your Labor MP; assisting an organisation that's putting pressure on govt to do more on some of the issues mentioned in the video; or even just being vocal about it online (by sharing content that critiques our Govt's policies rather than patting it on the dick) or offline (if appropriate)...
