As I was reading the strip I was wondering what would happen if Amber got the record without realizing it because she's in class, but the Sal approach is much more fun

Without a screen, how would Amber know when the level restarts? … maybe some kind of OBS script that automatically loads the level in the emulator, pauses, then unpauses on her first input.

Amber made me waste hours of my life watching and reading about Mario speed runs. If we assume the current record holder doesn’t exist in the DoA universe, the nature of stupid tricks in speedruns are something there’s no way Sal can just pick up. (Reverse jump running to start levels, making sure to hit flag poles at the bottom, which secret tubes to use to skip worlds, etc).

I assume you mean when the next level starts, rather then when the level restarts, as levels shouldn't be restarting unless she messes up and dies. And knowing when the next level starts would be part of the rote memory she's talking about.
