Minzoku Bokumetsu

also, the cheesy mac idea HAD to have come from Dorothy, I feel like

Andrea Andrew

Joe, you know that’s a tradition Joyce does with Dorothy.

Kazo

No. Not in front of our salads.

Packy Anderson

I mean, *I'd* love a date like that.

Andrea Andrew

If Dorothy came up with the idea, that brings up some questions.

Grace Serenity

Oh shit, are we preluding a new Slipshine, "Per package instructions"!?

Jeremy AR

Damn man do you want her to die of thirst? (Also the fact this was clearly Dorothy idea and it really turned Joyce on certainly says something).

Andrea Andrew

Does Joyce actually want to talk?

GPanda

Joyce: why is this turning me on and making want to perform pre marital hanky panky

Dan Rabin

I know she's just using the table to brace for closing the door, but Joyce looks like she could just float up to the ceiling in that last panel. Or maybe just as high as Joe can reach, which is pretty high. I assume that this idea came from Dorothy. Showing that actually happening would have wasted time and space, and it would have ruined the slight suspense.

Dan Rabin

Yes. "Talk". The kind where you close the door and move your lips and tongue. But first, macaroni and cheese!

David Jackson

sure, I imagine *some* talking will be... involved

Andrea Andrew

Yeah. I wonder what Dorothy and Joyce do at their Macaroni and cheese dinners.

Jeremy AR

These 3 are already in a polycule and they don't even know it (sorry Walky)

Jeremy AR

Mostly monosyllabic words.

C

"This is just like the kind of things Dorothy does for me!...Wait, does that mean they were dates?"

Gale Tazzin

he speaks her love language

Harold

@Colton: And then Joyce runs off to find Dorothy... exactly as Dorothy intended all along.

C

Dorothy: *dramatically eating potato chips*

Jey Siksa

I love Joe so much, he is a tryer

Onyx

Ok, this is adorable. And betting pennies, Joe is going to talk to Joyce about their physical relationship, consent, both enthusiastic participants, what she is comfortable doing (and taking responsibility for doing) etc. - if he listened to Roz lol Edit: He obviously listened to Dorothy about the date, so I'm hoping he listened to Roz too

Machalt

Joyce is so talking ready to talk, if you catch my meaning

Bagge

Smooooth Joe

Shane Wegner

“If I censor this unnecessarily, we’re gonna ***k.”

Shane Wegner

“I’m already well-trained in the use of dorm common areas for sexy activities.”

Simon Magid

I'm a little worried. Doesn't the Bible specifically condemn having mac and cheese with your boyfriend as licentious? o.o

Sajuuk-Khar

I don’t know that I agree on that last part! Like, solid observations all around, but I feel like if we got to see that conversation we could at least know if there was an actual decent talk between Dotty and Joe or if this is some Cyrano de Bergerac via Sappho nonsense! Or if not know, argue about it. …Maybe it IS for the best we cut away. D:

Sajuuk-Khar

Oh God I want to believe I want to believe that this is it (I don’t believe it though)

Sajuuk-Khar

I can’t bring myself to believe it’s gonna happen, something is gonna fuck it up

Dan Rabin

It's not a licentiousness issue—it's an issue of kashrut. Cheese is dairy, but Joyce and Joe are meat, and they should not be eaten at the same meal.

Kelly (they-them)

I hope Joe brought some Sprite too. All this mac and cheese seems to be making Joyce pretty thirsty

Phil_M

The preceding strip had her already dropping hints, so it's not just Joe being the nice boyfriend.

Phil_M

A four-letter word meaning intercourse. Talk.

Phil_M

At least there isn't a Lego T-Rex in the room.

Phil_M

The interesting question is what's tipped Joyce over the edge into wanting to actually get on with this, given that she was still being twitchy and weird about it when last seen. The preceding strip almost seemed to imply it was staring at the naked anatomy in the life-drawing class, but I doubt that it'd be anything that... vulgar.

Phil_M

Do any fundies actually keep kosher? I mean, I know that some of them are very biblically literalist, but I thought their interpretations tended to be very post-medieval.

Simon Magid

I dunno, these days they are tending towards the pre-medieval. And headed fast towards the stone age.

Phil_M

Not really. Dorothy knows that Joyce really likes plain mac and cheese per the box instructions, so when Joe came along and asked for help planning a date that Joyce would like, it will have been a minimum-effort response for Dorothy to whisper "Oh good grief", then say "Oh..." and suggest this as the first thing that came into her head. And if she suggested that they should also talk, well, talking is always good in a relationship, isn't it? This looks like Dorothy being genuinely helpful, but not having to try very hard.

Tim Starliper

I think they are trending more towards 'whatever supports my opinion' instead of a time reference such as medieval.

Jeremy AR

It's the mac and cheese weren't you paying attention? That stuff it's basically aphrodisiac for this girl.
