Andrea Andrew

She doesn’t like thick sauce. More of a drinker.

C

Texture is important in food.

I'm hearing the post-text in Harrison Ford's voice

Awkward>> Analytical >> Awsome>> repeat again by being Awkward...the cycle of Joyce.

Dan Rabin

I like all the chewing on display, and I like the way Joe tests his understanding of Joyce's preferences. Respect and the whiplash thereof are not an issue for him with Joyce.

Dan Rabin

No, she doesn't like soupy, either.

Grace Serenity

And somehow she doesn't think she has the 'tism!

Taco bell fire sauce use to be good Filled my sauce drawer with them

Maude Reads Things

I don't do sauces either unless it's so 'in' the meat that it's texturally indistinguishable. Much prefer spice rubs.

Jennifer’s respect being contingent on superficial things like food preferences instantly loses her my respect. Funny how that works.

Also props on Joe who looks suspiciously like he's been Doing The Reading, and I wonder if Joyce is about to get introduced to the world of very spicy, very often purely liquid and red, hot sauces.

Eric Barkman

The reasoning is a bit different, but I'm very much with Joyce in that I don't have an issue with spiciness, I just do not care for a lot of things that happen to be spicy. So many people don't seem to get that.

Berry

I'm honestly more concerned about the flavor than the spice level. I find a lot of spicy things taste like burnt vinegar and I'm not a fan. But it can have a high capsaicin content and taste good and I'll eat it. So I'm kiiiind of with Joyce here.

Oki

I'm in this photo and I don't like it (jk I do, can't believe Joyce is Me vis a vis our reasoning for Chipotle Sauce Choice)

Jennifer, as always, updates her level of respect for others in real-time, based on how cool she thinks that person is

David M Willis

no it's one indivisible thing you can't ruin mac and cheese for me

Baqly

Woa the two genders (Ketchup and mustard) its very interesting to see the general focus on foods and what really makes her be a picky eater. Because one can easily assume its taste, but food having so many layers to it, you gotta wonder whats the breaking point for this kind of thing.

Ali Youngman

I mean… It’s Jennifer… I don’t know what you expected there….

tifani

The problem with most sauces is that they make the food wet and food that is not soup being wet makes my brain angry. Sauces are fine but within reason and honestly unless it’s a sandwich that has the proper sauce ratio your best off just putting it on the side.

Does Joyce like mozzarella sticks?

For all the things I have that could be said to come from the autism salad bar, I've never had food fussies. Many insights from DoA over the years.

Berry

I am also mostly not fussy with food. I have had to admit it's fruit for me that it becomes obvious. But I've always loved veggies and trying different food so I never related to the autistic food experience-- until I realized mine comes in the form of hating the unpredictable nature of fruit. Will it be mushy? Firm? Sour? Sweet? Is it in season? Because if it's out of season it'll be worse. I didn't eat it at the right time so it's either too hard and tart or too sweet and mushy...

Joyce I have a condiment you will love called gochujang
