The first borderless panel is a de-establishing shot: Jennifer has become uncomfortable sitting with her new, new friends, and is LEAVING. 3. In panel 3, Jennifer reverts to trying to re-invoke her past status. In panel 4, she looks up, and there's the personification of her past, staring at her. "You rang?" 4. And in the final, borderless panel, the focus switches to Alice, looking some mixture of sad and angry, but not yet yelling. The long-established height difference works to great effect here.
