Instead of starting to sort through Joyce's sweatervests, I pencilled a strip where Dorothy first sits down at Joyce's desk and notices the printed photo of Dorothy she keeps taped to the wall there.

The Dorothy photo's been part of the Joyce/Sarah dormroom background set for many, many years, but I honestly don't know if it's ever been very visible in actual strips. Usually somebody's standing there! So even if Dorothy sitting down instead of attending to her given task was a false start, I wasn't sure if it'd've followed as "ohhhh that photo that's always in the background, huh!"

so straight on to the closet we go

so to speak

also i didn't have to draw somebody sitting in a chair, so that's a win

The invisibility cloak even extends to her photo.

The important question is, has *Becky* ever noticed that Joyce keeps a photo of Dorothy on the wall?

Packy Anderson

I think we'd have seen her complaining about it by now. Though Beck's animosity towards Dorothy seems to be trailing off as she settles into her relationship with Dina.

Clever writing! It’s too obvious to point out the major LGBT implications of that photo being there, then go straight 🤣🤣🤣 to the closet.

Harold

@Packy Anderson: Well, at least until she finds out about [waves arms around] THIS

C

Was certainly an interesting idea

It is well known that the opposite of "straight into the closet" is "gay out of the closet."

Rainfall

Aww, though. :)

Astariel

Definitely never noticed that photo before, but it's very sweet.

"straight" to the closet. Ah, Willis you kill me. I do love seeing these set photos.

A couple of things hit my OCD: 1. I would think the ladders in the set wouldn't be such that one had to crawl over the railing (I'd put them at the other end of the bed). Not being one that has used a bunk bed with a railing, I may be missing something. 2. The ladder is missing in the comic.

Daibhid Ceannaideach

It's been a long time since I had a bunk bed, but my recollection is that yes, you have to crawl over the railing, but you also use it to hold onto. Otherwise you're just a tired person balanced at the top of a ladder. And I *think* it's just out of frame in the comic, but I haven't worked it out fully.

HueStL

There's probably some backgrounds nerd who would have recognized it.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'd try putting the ladder next to open section and try swinging up. From what I see on the floor, it should be sticking out unless they took it down and put it out of view (not likely, if they're lazy like I me).

It took me until this week to figure their closets are criss-cross from their beds. Of the four main Clark rooms, only in Dorothy's are the closets and beds lined up.
