Oh, Willis made me sad :(

LupinThe8th

Went from panel 3 being hilarious to panel 6 being heartbreaking. 3 panels isn't bad for a 180 turn.

Railway Series Book Club

don't be silly amber, they're only gonna recruit Dina out of the two of you!

NinjaZaku

Amber's meds are making her perceive a parallel universe, I see.

LupinThe8th

At least Amber has a future in toy sales.

Dan Rabin

So, Amber is only semme-conscious?

Grace Serenity

I think she's just high from either Oxy or Vicodin. That shit will mess you up!

Harold

@AE Gonzalez: But maintaining her integrity

GundamBradley

I feel like Dorothy is being a tad dramatic about this given Becky isn't even mad at her so much as she is just feeling sorry for herself, but I get it, it's awkward.

Harold

For him, it will be Tuesday

darklion

That is a callback roughly two decades in the making

Packy Anderson

👏👏👏 +1,000,000 Patreon Points to Dan.

KittyKai

Hoooo booooyyy it's Stabby-in-the-heart o'clock!!!! 💔

C

Why must you hurt my soul Willis...

Dan Rabin

Dina's three solo panels have her head-tilt and eye-gaze progressively lower, and her mouth gets progressively smaller, all as her thoughts move from Amber to Becky to unvoiced and maximally reflective.

Gale Tazzin

"I'm here to collect my clothes so I can sleep over romantically with the girl you've had unrequited feelings for your entire life, while you will be sleeping alone" is something Dorothy wants to convey. the fact that Becky isn't mad actually makes it worse, because they all want the best for Becky but there is nothing they can do in this situation to convince her she isn't an unlovable failure

Logibear

Hot Dinosaur Ex-Girlfriend 😥... gosh this is sad

C.T. Phipps

I feel bad that my reaction is that I want Walky and Joe's feelings on this matter but think Becky should have just gotten over it because Joyce was never hers to begin with. Effectively, I wanted consequences for the whole cheating arc and the consequences just feel uninteresting to me (save ruining my favorite ship). I liked Alyson Hannigan but I didn't cry when she married Wesley, I mean Denisof. (Not hating on Willis, just wishing the story would have gone a different direction)

Astariel

Though in this universe, you'd have to think Amber would be your first pick as a recruit.

Astariel

Poor Dina. It's good to see that predictions that she would be angry at Joyrothy seem to have been false, though. I guess Dorothy really is planning on moving in with Joyce for at least a couple of days. I doubt Sarah's going to be happy about that.

Logibear

Dina's got a good head on her shoulders. Will be interesting to see how she handles talking to the object of Becky's unrequited affection though.

Lea

I agree with plenty of your thoughts, but just felt a need to point out: Joyce was never ANYONE's to begin with. Much of her deprogramming has actually been coming to learn that she doesn't belong to anyone, even though she's grown up in a society/community/culture that's told her that she belongs to God, her father, her mother, her church, and eventually her boyfriend, husband, and children. I agree that Joyce owed Joe more deference than she gave in terms of talking with Joe *before* kissing Dorothy. But just to be clear, Joyce belongs to NO ONE, most certainly not Walky or Joe.

Astariel

Yeah, it was a prediction that never really made sense to me, but a lot of people seemed pretty sure about it, so I was a little worried.

Fart Captor

Once again I am vindicated as Always Correct*, as I knew Dina would not see any reason to hold a grudge against them, as Becky's reaction was completely irrational and not their responsibility. *except for sometimes when I'm not

Fart Captor

Frankly, I find it refreshing that for ONCE in fiction, it's straight BOYS' feelings that are being put on hold, in favor of centering those of queer girls', instead of the other way around like it always is I like Joe and Walky just fine but I would've been absolutely okay if they'd been dumped off panel We'll get to them when we get to them

5099 5618 v2.0

@NinjaZaku Maybe she'll be able to cross over into a parallel 'verse, eventually...

Populuxe

I’m just glad I’ve been around long enough to get this reference.

5099 5618 v2.0

@Gale Tazzin Rough spot. Sometimes there aren't any heroes *or* villains, just choices, damage, and healing to come.

Fart Captor

Yeah i think it's less that she's worried Becky will be mad and more that she feels guilty as hell

5099 5618 v2.0

@Astariel Nah, that's Ethan. Unless he's doing the recruiting.

Shane Wegner

I never quite got those worries: “how dare you exist, be desirable to Becky, yet not return her affections, something you would be entirely within your rights to do, assuming even anyone had control over such things!” That’s not Dina.

DramaQueen

Sarah can just take that up with Becky.

AE Gonzalez

So, we got nobody checking on Becky. Not like she’s suicidal, or has a history of suicide in her family.

DramaQueen

“Cheating” on relationships that were just a few days old. Freshmen. And Walky knew Dorothy had some kind of crisis going on, he was happy to get laid and take advantage. It’s not like they were really going out again. Get back to me when they, like John Lennon and Johnny Cash, leave marriages of long duration and many children.

Tessea

Give her time. She'll work through it one way or another. Dina doesn't appear to be one for non-dinosaur related hot takes.

DramaQueen

Yes, Dorothy has been tiptoeing around Becky’s stalker jealousy this whole semester, I’m sure she had enough already and Becky has now tripled down. There may be a loud scene or even worse an uncharacteristically quiet Becky. If Dorothy were Raidah she’d go in there and needle Becky but she’s way too nice.

DramaQueen

Even worse I think Dorothy can’t go back to her room and has to sleep elsewhere because of the state Becky is in.

DramaQueen

Generally that’s her default position!

Tessea

I'm glad Dina's smart enough to know Joyce wouldn't have intentionally hurt Becky. And if that's all it was, she'd still be with Becky now. This is down to how Becky is handling the situation and her side of the relationship. That is not Joyce or Dorothy's fault.

Dmitri0240

Yes, Becky needs help and support right now, but no one in this comic is in a position to provide it. The three people here are someone too high on pain meds to get out of bed, and two of the three people guaranteed to make Becky feel the worst. Hopefully, something actually productive is happening off-panel.

MrShoggoth

Yeah… I feel extra bad for Dina. The first one is always the worst one.

Dmitri0240

Sarah would have found a way to be mad no matter what had gone down. She was actively encouraging exactly this before she had precisely one positive interaction with Joe less than 48 hours prior.

Astariel

Ethan? Not the girl with superhero experience? Apologies if you're making a joke I'm not getting.

Dmitri0240

Hopefully, Dorothy is starting to learn that she's not actually very good at apologies and that she would perhaps do well to ponder Joyce's post-nut musings on the matter some more.

DiDi-chan

Realistically, I didn't expect Dina to be mad at the... pair. Because she's always been logical and there's nothing about Becky's reaction that is running on logic. The brunt of her emotion is the pain that Becky has caused her personally, in fact. Still... Glasses #1 has always been incredibly observant. And we already know she likes to take responsibility for shit. She's going to notice Dina's expression. To take a quote from a very infamous game... "I hope this hurts."

Katrina Marie Paton

Have we written off Dina and Becky already? Seems a little premature.

The Lurker

I forgot to render the appropriate greeting of the day yesterday, so Happy belated Birthday Marines. Damn you Wilis!

5099 5618 v2.0

@Astariel Apologies, I thought we were talking about toy sales

NekoIncardine

Just gonna say I love the Old Wallyverse gag.

Astariel

That's what I keep saying! But everyone was too happy that someone was yelling at Joyrothy to care about the hypocrisy.

Sajuuk-Khar

HONK HONK (Yes this is a truck joke. BOO ME IF YOU WISH)

Sajuuk-Khar

If you think this is bad wait till she starts making out with Ruth, Dina

HenryVolt

I remember how on the second to last strip that featured Becky someone left a comment that made a lot of sense. That Becky's declaration that God isn't real is less about Joyce being gay for Dorothy instead of her and more about how it didn't cost Joyce anything unlike Becky. Unlike Becky Joyce didn't get booted out of school despite her coming out moment being a literal front page scandal, unlike Becky Joyce's father and remaining family casually excepted her, unlike Becky nobody died over it. But the biggest contrast of all, unlike Joyce up until now Becky faith didn't wavered she's stayed true throughout and despite all of everything she's been through only to see Joyce get cosmically rewarded for the same dilemma. At that point you think either God isn't real or he is real and your life is nothing more than a fucking joke of his.

Exaraptor nolongergirlfriendiensis :(

Smoochie

Random question: what am I missing that suggests Ruth and Becky are about to…Do Ruth and Becky things? I feel like I missed a preview image somewhere. 👀

Sajuuk-Khar

I have mourned the Futurewives and now it’s time to feast on drama like an evil vulture Tangential note: Walky sure is looking smug and striding along happily in a lot of the winter preview panels! 🤔

William Lewis

"I don't want to start any blasphemous rumours But I think that God's got a sick sense of humour And when I die, I expect to find him laughing" Depeche Mode I find it easy to believe in god but not believe in heaven for that type of reasoning...

Sajuuk-Khar

I think, personally, that this is a response and a belief Becky will revisit in the future for the precise reason you illustrate: her current break with God comes from a moment of incredible pain. It’s not really quite the same as Joyce’s or Dina’s whole deal and I don’t think it reflects a core value, or flaw, or quirk even—it’s just “why this??” writ large and loud for completely understandable reasons. This might be me projecting a bit but I have empathy for that and I think that her faith has been such a pillar that she will return to it. I think what may be dead for her is the “personal relationship” with God, the idea that you can actively hang out with the divine, which is sad in ways but…necessary? I think? I could go onto a tangent about how not believing in an anthropomorphic God, in discarding the wholesale myth of “we are the [perfect] Image” is also I think a necessary thing but ehhhhhh. I ain’t want to pull out a soapbox.

Girlycore

Unfortunately, sometimes if you push everyone away you end up with no one there. These people are all 18/19 years old, they aren't therapists, they aren't even necessarily aware of the warning signs in a way that makes them pay attention.

Girlycore

Hit enter too soon! Lastly, I think the idea that this is somehow Dina or Dorothy's failing is... just ghoulish.

MrShoggoth

I’ve said before that this is Becky’s Job moment, and you just articulated it perfectly

Sajuuk-Khar

Dan don’t listen to Willis this was amazing

Empress of Robots

I hope Dorothy can suss out that something is wrong with Dina so she can go smack some sense in Becky (with slaps if necessary)

Maybeeus

Becky has come to the awful sobering conclusion that Joyce is her McAwesomes counterpart.

Maybeeus

Lets be real if Amber was a member of SEMME that shit woulda wrapped up in a year. I feel like if you put a lot of DOA characters into It's Walky! You would get much more effective results but Amber/Amazi-Girl would absolutely be a hornet in a beehive situation.

David M Willis

Oh, like the Head Alien wouldn't have any exploitable emotional third rails to work with in Amber that'd set her off predictably! She'd fit right in!

5099 5618 v2.0

@Jasmijn Wellner I can't tell if hugs actually do console her. But if that does help her, I hope she gets a whole lot of them.

Harold

The saddest thing here is that Dina understands why Dorothy is unwilling to be around Becky right now, but can't help because *she* doesn't want to be near Becky either.

Sajuuk-Khar

1.) A reboot of It’s Walky where Blaine is a fifth column guy for the aliens instead of/as well as a mobster 2.) Seriously all Dex has to do is manipulate that guilt complex and self-loathing (and abuse-related PTSD) with his nasty little claw Also that horny, probably

Annie

Now the ripple effects of this emotional mess really hit Dina!

MrShoggoth

Dorothy feels responsible for what’s going on, you think she’s going to Raidah this whole thing?

tifani

Oh man okay so the sleepover was already gonna be awkward as hell with Sarah there (and before people start coming at me with jOYCe is ALLLLLLLLOOOOWWWEEED TO LET wHoevVER SHE WANTS SLEEP OVER . Yeah but Sarah’s allowed to NOT be okay with it) but now Dorothy is guaranteed to be there when Joe shows up for the talk.

ProxityR

I was poor for a few days and didnt have access to the early strip's and I get it back and see this, her face at the end is making me sad, damn you Willis

Proto_Eevee

a spin off where amber fights the aliens would be cool since we never got that in walkyverse

aran

what in the Christ how did I miss a whole-ass Walkyverse revival
