Logibear

I'm in this comic and I don't like it

William Lewis

Just remember that discipline is a means to an end, not an end in itself.

AE Gonzalez

I get the feeling Angie would get along with Amber.

Harold

Asma-osis

Fart Captor

Give yourself some credit Angie, those horse girls don't race themselves

Lazuli

this feels like an antithesis to joyce and dorothy

C.T. Phipps

Angie turns out to be the only straight girl in the comic other than Sal. Wacky hijinks ensue as Joyce decides to ship them since she can't remember Danny exists.

Sajuuk-Khar

You wouldn’t download a doomscrolling app No really you wouldn’t

darklion

no-drama Asma

Sajuuk-Khar

Angie’s passion for getting Haru to the Arima Kinen is matched only by her hatred of this one AO3 jerk who keeps writing sad Haru/Rice fics when clearly they should be fluffy and cute (It’s Amber. Amber is the AO3 jerk.)

Fart Captor

straight people are a myth

Fart Captor

Messed up. Rice is clearly already with BOURBON. Everyone knows rivalries are the marriage of sports animé. I forget who Urara's rival is but she does have one 😤

GundamBradley

Amber can be disciplined if properly motivated, but yeah, she usually leaves that to Amazi-Girl, I guess.

Syl

angie is, as the kids say, a whole ass mood

Railway Series Book Club

rice shower has two hands!!! even if rice is married to bourbon, urara is perfectly happy being rice's side piece

Logibear

(If they end up being Demi as well, then I'll have some further questions)

GundamBradley

Stupid question, perhaps, from a non-hijabi, but is Asma in the process of putting hers on, or did she just drape a blanket on herself in the meantime? I am still rather inexperienced in learning about them, so I am unsure. I do love that hijab, niqab, and burqa are showing up more in pop culture in not-racist ways. Like, for the longest while, seeing Muslim characters was just... supposed to be a punchline in an of itself, and I am glad that's become less of the case.

Fart Captor

Urara is too baby and lacks the necessary aptitudes to be Rice's rival 😤

MrShoggoth

As a straight, can confirm

Railway Series Book Club

well they're not rivals, they're besties! look at how much fun they have hanging out together in Road to the Top!!

Populuxe

“I want to be a lawyer I want to be a scholar But I really can't be bothered Ooh, just gimme it quick, gimme it Gimme-gimme-gimme-gimme” Quoting lyrics from Kate Bush’s “Sat In Your Lap” for no particular reason.

5099 5618 v2.0

Oh hey, Angie. Any chance you brought your backstory with you?

Kelly (they-them)

That's her hijab. I don't think she has any reason to to temporarily cover herself. A hijab doesn't need to be worn if you're only in the presence of women/ one woman. I'm not a Muslim or hijabi, I just live in a heavily Muslim area in the US (but still predominantly white) and grew up going to school with a lot of Muslim kids. I don't really know much about Islam, so like, take my answer with a grain of salt.

GundamBradley

I appreciate you qualifying your answer, but given what you've told me, it makes perfect sense, yeah.

Dan Rabin

If it moves the plot, we'll get backstory. We don't have backstory on Meredith, Agatha, Other Rachel, Mandy, Grace, Ken, Jim, Bryan, Sayid, Thad, Drew, or Sierra. We have a tiny bit on Rachel, since she was Ruth's freshman roommate.

Katrina Marie Paton

Tbf considering what just happened between Joyce and Joe I don't see why Danny existing would make a difference anyway.

AE Gonzalez

Sierra is a hippie who walks around barefoot, and is in a polycule; that alone implies a lot about her backstory.

AE Gonzalez

Way too early to tell, but looks like Angie is Amber minus the personal trauma and the psychoses it caused.

Shane Wegner

Self-discipline! If i can find some shortcut to that, I'll be set!

Dan Rabin

And we've met Sierra's parents, I concede.

Matt McKenzie

Are the first three panels just a repeat to show the passing of time while Asma dresses or am I supposed to be squinting and finding some action I’m not seeing?

Harold

@AE Gonzalez: We also know Sierra's a churchgoing Christian. She's a really interesting character who I wish appeared more often.

tifani

Angie strikes me as well adjusted Amber.

Maybeeus

I'm starting to wonder if maybe her beef with Malaya back in shortpacked was actually kinda justified and she turns out to be a swell person if you put in the minimum effort and Aren't Malaya.

Maybeeus

Just a reminder for yall! https://www.shortpacked.com/comic/axis-of-something-20 Angie is an old shortpacked character! She wasn't in many strips though so she's on one hell of a comeback! She was mostly just Malaya's roommate who wasn't that fond of her for about the same reasons most folks don't get along with but also shares a first page with Malaya herself.

5099 5618 v2.0

@AE Gonzalez She could be. Then again, we're just getting to know her.

Harold

Dorothy to Joyce: "No, no - that's not what that song title means. Joyce... Oh, all right"

Jasmijn Wellner

2014, wow i forgot how long shortpacked and DOA were running concurrently

Girlycore

The first three panels are to show time passing while Asma prays (see the prayer rug in her hand as she puts it back from wherever she took it yesterday and the comment about self-discipline). There's a slight difference in Angie's eyebrow as she, presumably, sees something interesting while she's scrolling.

5099 5618 v2.0

Yes, but what is Angie's Stand? @S-K, got any thoughts on that one?

5099 5618 v2.0

@tifani We did just meet her, tho. She might just be better about keeping her issues quiet or concentrated in specific venues.

5099 5618 v2.0

@Lazuli Anti-Joyce, however, is currently unaccounted for [1] [1] - As far as I can tell. Could be wrong, tho.

Alexandra Falk

I see we're rolling out the next unfortunately too-relatable character.
