I had to go back and compare. Since the elevator ride with Asma, Becky has cut off the long hair on her right and generally evened out the two sides. And yes, the new structure resembles Dorothy's last-seen hairstyle, except that Becky has two little pointy bits on top (I think someone else pointed this out based on a preview). Becky seems to feel better having exercised control over her hair. "She's-right-behind-you" is a trope that keeps on giving. I don't like it because it reads as unrequited yearning; like, "Look, Joyce, I can be like Dorothy for you!" Which is just shit for everyone's relationships. I feel like it's not a marker of 'Big Life Change' so much as regression. You know when I saw the preview panels I thought this hair style indicated a time skip and Becky growing her hair out and a sign she might be feeling better. Nope! I was so wrong! I was the wrongest I have ever been. This is literally the next day after she found out and broke up with Dina and lost her religion.

I'll be honest - I'm not a fan of this haircut. Her old hairstyle was a lot more punk and rebel and kind of butch in a way, which feels so much more distinctly *Becky.* This haircut feels like it's just fitting in the mold with all the other haircuts. Which I actually think might be the intention here from a narrative angle - which makes me even more worried for Becky 😰

Becky's hair has been looking fantastic the last several strips she's been in and now it's fantastic in a whole new way. It's similar to her original haircut, but styled better. I think it's longer on the sides with a bit more of a wave to it

True. But for me, every time I went through one of those "chopped 12+ inches of hair off" transitions.... Even though they were hard, they were worth it. And things were eventually overall better on the other side than wherever I'd been mired before.

I think in cases where A (like Dorothy) has harmed/hurt B (like Walky or Becky), the currently understood best practice is for A to choose actions based on what would be best for B. Not to take actions based on what would make A feel like they'd "done their part." Sometimes the right thing to do for someone else is let a third party help them. If that means our personal debt goes unresolved a little longer, but the person gets what they most need...isn't it better for us to choose based on the victim's needs, not our "need" to "make amends"?

I think it’s obviously good if anyone helps them but I think Dorothy (and people defending this) is making a lot of convenient assumptions that Walky and Becky wouldn’t have appreciated a personal discussion with her more than this behavior which reads to me more as fulfilling an obligation to appease her own guilt in a way that’s more convenient for the person who hurt the others (Dorothy) than the ones who were hurt (Walky and Becky). If Dorothy had made any kind of attempt to talk to either Walky or Becky before this and they’d said themselves that they wanted space it would be different. We haven’t seen that and we don’t actually know that. Some people want their apologies directly from the person not from some designated third party. And a huge part of Dorothy’s more recent behavior has been avoiding dealing directly with the consequences of her actions as much as possible. I can’t give her the benefit of the doubt on this. She likes to be seen doing the right thing. She likes to tell herself she’s being responsible and she likes to do it often in a way that leaves witnesses to her doing the right thing and being responsible. Now it’s a matter of public record she assigned other people to do damage control for her and she doesn’t have to get her hands dirty directly by doing the hard and private work of handling her problems face to face with the people she hurt.

I think this many of us looking at this haircut and seeing Dorothy makes it pretty clear Willis intended for this to be Becky mimicking Dorothy. If he wanted it to not be the case he would not have given her THIS specific haircut. And Becky doing this makes me extremely worried about the current state of her mental health. This is distressingly weird behavior and the last 24 hours has just been her doing worrying thing after worrying thing. She broke up with her girlfriend, she rejected her religion, and now she has altered her appearance to look not just like anyone but like the girl she was rejected for that lead to the other two events. She needs actual therapy and a real adult. Someone should call Leslie.
