Dot

Raidah is very genuinely one of my favorite characters

Andrea Andrew

Forget ethics and morality. She’s motivated by her ability to one up Sarah, who’s probably forgotten she exists.

Logibear

"Hold on, can you just say "No, Not Sarah's" again? I forgot to record it so I can play it back while flicking my bean to Enya"

Empress of Robots

Raidah be normal in 2026 challenge START...and failed. On her first strip too. That was fast!

C

"You're a gigantic asshole...but we could use a gigantic asshole right now-Dammit Becky, stop laughing!"

C Bonesmith

There's not a chance in hell Sarah's forgotten she exists. She might forgive (some people) (not Raidah), but she never forgets. She's way too canny for that.

Fart Captor

Raidah stop being aroused by this

Sajuuk-Khar

Becky: Also she said “I gotta go to Raidah with this because I love sufferin’, I no longer deserve Sarah’s friendship, an’ if possible I need like an old-timey flagellant’s whip.”

ArdieBea

Raidah hasn't ever paid any attention to Dorothy prior to the protest other than crushing her presidential fantasies. But Dorothy knows plenty about her. She was deadly serious about networking etc previously; now we begin to see it pay off!

I Know Why the Mowed Lawn Screams

I, for one, encourage any potential future Anakin/Palpatine-esq dynamics that could grow from this. or any future interactions at all tbh, Raidah's a great foil character

Kelly (they-them)

Still hate Raidah. Like this strip though. I suppose I'm grateful that she's being helpful for all the wrong reasons

Sajuuk-Khar

Raidah: Yes. Good. Now say it slower, and in a more needy tone. Becky: Dotty are you SURE she knows a real lawyer

Sajuuk-Khar

Raidah: Are you familiar with the tragedy of Dana the Promising Young Woman…? It’s not a story Sarah would tell you.

Fart Captor

…Unless this is going in a toxic yuri direction, WHICH I DOUBT

The Axolartl

I wonder if these three know that their university definitely has some sort of legal clinic that can also Call A Lawyer (and also presumably has one for faculty but it's up in the air whether that would apply to Leslie and Robin, since typically that only covers like. Job related legal issues). No one reads their university's website anymore smh

Harold

Wondering if the lawyer is going to be Jacob's brother Harrison. Raidah and Jacob may have parted on less-than-good terms but she knows what a great attorney he is.

GundamBradley

I am of two minds. Raidah isn't out of line in being bent out of shape about them, but the last two panels are rather... telling. Bit of projection taking place, I see.

C.T. Phipps

I mean the university is the one who made protesting there illegal. They could be terminated with cause.

I Know Why the Mowed Lawn Screams

genuinely it would be such a fun reveal if Harrison came back !! esp if it meant more momentum for Jacob and some of his long-term character beats coming back into focus

Sajuuk-Khar

I am a sucker for the villain helping villainously

DramaQueen

Kudos to Dorothy for not rising to that bait. Just tell her whatever strokes her gigantic ego, she’ll never be an actual friend so you don’t need her to like you. Dorothy knows Raidah hates and insults everyone anyway.

William Lewis

The sleeziest character in the storyline.

DramaQueen

Oh oh oh, are you saying Raidah wouldn’t give plebeian straight Dorothy the time of day but now Raidah thinks Dorothy is interesting enough to talk to?

Vivian

Becky's face in panel 2 makes me so sad

Shane Wegner

I -think- she doesn’t like Sarah!

Lisa

lol she's so fucking petty and I love that Dorothy is successfully exploiting that.

Astariel

Honestly, Dorothy, you couldn't come up with anyone else to help you with this? Sarah? Jacob? Carla? Anyone who doesn't have a personal grudge against you and your girlfriend?

Girlycore

I thought this said "She's so fucking pretty" and honestly couldn't agree more.

Girlycore

IDK, I heard god answers lesbian prayers.

HenryVolt

This is...such a "Dr.Doom" move. All they needed to do is tell her was that they have a challenge she's better equipped at handling than Sarah. Just like telling Doom there's something Reed Richard's can't do.

Logibear

Looking forward to see how Raidah is going to try and use this favor as leverage over Dorothy in the future.

Irene Knapp

yeah. never use your employer's lawyer for a matter that your employer has an interest in. the lawyer has a duty to the client, but how they interpret that duty may not be sufficiently in your favor.

Peach Reaver

No Raidah, the part people give you grief about is your shit personality.

Ben Wray

I'd say nobody outside the comment section has actually given her that much grief about it? But then again the comment section has done enough of it that it's probably justified straight through the fourth wall.

EnterTheHero

Ugh, it's like leasing your soul to the Devil. It's not quite a sale, but you still have to wash the brimstone stink off.

Waifu Purplebutt

The Devil is absolutely going to charge you for the favor of only making it a lease

Tessea

Wait, I'm confused Raidah, WHO thinks they are the center of the universe? And as a Canadian I assumed it would be someone from Toronto.

ArdieBea

@DramaQueen LOL, no, though I do like that take. Her post-protest interactions with Joyrothy were initially snide, dismissive condescension about their motives for being at the protest, assuming they're merely stroking their own white liberal egos rather than actually supporting the cause (which was a reasonable assumption, tbh, though inaccurate in this case) and then heated annoyance that, deliberately or not, they had shifted coverage of the protest from the point of the protest to 'bi make-outs'. She has no overt reaction to their outing; only to its impact on a movement that's important to her. She's since attacked Joyce who she loathes for several reasons, but her animus towards Dorothy is mainly for the reasons outlined above. And maybe because it was with Joyce for goodness sakes! I don't think she'd give Dorothy the time of day right now except that A. Joyce isn't in sight, B. Dorothy flatters her, and C. it gives her an opportunity to one-up Sarah. And it's those last two things that tell me that Dorothy has a file on Raidah with data about how to motivate her to a specific action. Dorothy is beneath Raidah's notice but she's a significant blip on Dorothy's.

Simon Magid

Nonsense. I know, as all Danes know, that Denmark is the centre of the Universe. o.o

Simon Magid

Well don't knock it, Reed himself once used it on Dr. Doom and Doom not only did it for free but he spent weeks gloating where his villainous plans just coasted in neutral rather than going anywhere. o.O

Omnithea

Let's see if she has actual principles and isn't just showing off.

IAmDeltaS

Lmao well played, Dorothy

Jesse

She's gloating about being more useful than her arch-enemy immediately after talking smack about other people for being self-absorbed. While someone they know is probably abducted.

Jesse

She comes across like she's not the absolute worst, so probably? But still an a-hole.

Jesse

@ Simon Magid That explains that obnoxious kid who did that song about his noteworthy history of... formerly being seven years old. Incidentally, I'm shredding your country's Centre/Center of the Universe Certificate.

Dan Rabin

This strip has a *lot* of Raidah solo panels. It burns, yesss! The last two panels are the big tell, with first one eyebrow leaping up, then both eyes escaping from behind her glasses at the magic words. Lip-biting in DoA is often correlated with sexual arousal. For Raidah, it's correlated with someone saying "connections". Also, forefinger.

Gale Tazzin

she does have a good point. Raidah is far better at exploiting levers of power than Sarah, who doesn't seem cut out for criminal justice. (Sarah would probably be an excellent divorce attorney instead)

Johanne

Carla would not work great considering what the protest was about

Sky Starlight

I don't like Raidah, but I DO like toxic yuri.

Heatth

Yeah. I get the feeling she will help and then lord it over them and Sarah forever.

Jennifer Novelli

Raidah is a big believer in "My name's Paul, and that's between y'all."

Jennifer Novelli

Being an asshole doesn't make her wrong, or a bad person. Who among us hasn't had someone we're mad at need a favor, and we relished the chance to make them squirm a little?

SmurfJuice

The petty snob makes a habit of surrounding herself with sycophants, gloats about her utility to others, yet would absolutely be devastated if she winds up getting used and then discarded by the sycophants she collects like trophies. Truly the Radish of all time.

Zesstra

I don't think "connections" is the magic word, it's the fact that they need her, *not Sarah*. Random thought: if the word "connections" was a turn-on, the NYT puzzles app would be like softcore pornography.

Seth Aaron Hershman has they/she pronouns

it's actually really funny how much this strip throws into focus how much raidah is, like, pre-character-development dorothy, vis-a-vis "oh, you have issues with me pursuing status in the political establishment at the expense of a genuine and fulfilling social life? how antifeminist of you"

joe mcguire

Ohmahgawd SHE’S SO GROSS!! 🤬 her whole attitude is gross!!

Harold

@ArdieBea: That's Dorothy's secret, ArdieBea - she has a file on *everyone*

Tessea

Insert Lanipator's Vegita voice - "Funny thing is I know you're playing me. But you're right."

holdinglines

wait...where IS sarah? she's in the same class as them and it's already established tony won't let her skip class to spend time with him. was she late coming in?

Harold

@River Smith: I'm presuming that it isn't a matter of Sarah being late, but Dorothy arriving early, as usual. Even in the midst of simultaneous sexual and political awakening, Dorothy Keener prides herself on punctuality (this morning's episode in O'Ryan's class notwithstanding - if anything, that probably reinforced Dorothy's "mustn't-be-late-or-bad-things-will-happen" mentality).

Beck Chonigman

You're not given grief for HAVING connections, Raidah. You're given grief for soullessly using people FOR their connections and then dumping them the second they are no longer useful to you, you wretched pussbag.

Amós Batista

I don't know. What's about Jacob, instead talking to Raidah?

Mitzi B.

I love how smug Raidah is about this. And how correct she is - when you're trying to bail someone out of jail, you need someone like Raidah, who has connections and who's got their ego invested in winning the case. Also, Raidah's pettiness about one-upping Sarah mirrors Sarah's pettiness about Raidah . . . I love the parallel.

Rob McBobson

Maybe Sarah's just not appearing in the strip because she's not saying anything.

Jeremy AR

Honestly i be severely disappointed otherwise

Ilana Feldman

...Given that iirc Raidah wasn't part of this storyline before the rewrites to include her/asma, I'm really wondering how this plot point went before the rewrite.

Maude Reads Things

When in doubt, appeal to her ego. It almost always works

Ilana Feldman

The TL;DR is that Willis added a bunch of asma/raidah stuff (and possibly did some rewrites) due to the general reaction to the protest arc. Most of this arc was drawn in early 2025, but this specific page was added in August.

Harold

@BBCC: 60% of the time, it works every time
