Astariel

That was more of a skip ahead than I was expecting. Looks like some character growth for Robin ahead.

ArdieBea

Huh. I'd never really clicked that Leslie and Robin are nearly the same height.

ArdieBea

Also, poor Robin.

C

...Might be worth seeing how viable it is to convert the classes to online classes for the time being.

Kazo

Considering Willis said Leslie's class is GONE in RL,.I wouldn't get my hopes up

Logibear

I see you there Raidah. Seething... Malding... Coping

Railway Series Book Club

i love raidah being here for this when she doesn't know anything about either of them. just staring at robin like "what the fuck is wrong with this woman"

C

...Well, that's one depressing way to make it reflect the sad reality.

Sajuuk-Khar

THE CARCERAL STATE BROKE ROBIN ;_;

GundamBradley

You know what I don't want to say, but I'm going to say? They might need Linda to talk the Dean out of... whatever the shit this is.

Sajuuk-Khar

I mean, this is her normal state of being, yes, but right now I expect she’s quietly rubbing her hands together SICKOS-style, high on the knowledge she is Better than Sarah

Sajuuk-Khar

Raidah: Let me siphon a bit more of Dorothy’s joy, as per THE BARGAIN.

bluemooncartoons

Robin desanto they could never make me hate you

Gale Tazzin

all of Linda's kids pissed her off last time, they're not exactly in a position to cash in favors

Tessea

Well that was easy..... wait what?? Dammit!

Harold

@Hooked to the Silver Screen: I think she took the kidnapping and its aftermath pretty seriously. She cares deeply about Becky, even if she has a decidedly odd way of showing it sometimes.

Gale Tazzin

I think she's been broken since Becky nearly died and got pancakes with Leslie instead of her, but her remaining vestiges of sanity keep being further stripped away

Empress of Robots

Honestly she's goals and I wish I was more like her.

Dan Rabin

Standard scene-setting first panel, then three panels of Leslie/Robin interaction with some crucial information for us. Leslie is way upset; Robin tries her usual wacky way out, but it doesn't work: not on Leslie, not on herself. I may be over-reading the shifting groupings here, but consider: 1. Robin and Leslie standing very close in the first four panels, 2. Becky closer to the two-moms grouping in the first panel, but closest to Dorothy in the last panel, 3. Dorothy striding with Raidah as sort of a loose action-oriented law-and-social-issues grouping in the first panel, 4. Robin can't keep up the front anymore and has to go off by herself to pretend 5. Raidah stays with the group in the last panel, though her alliance with the rest might be thought tenuous and temporary by all of them, and us readers. I said to a friend yesterday that I thought this thread was either going to become very dark like the kidnapping or brief and lightening like the cops searching the dorm. But our author has managed to surprise me so far with both and neither. I shall keep up my Patreon payments without fail.

Ben Wray

Dang, it's gonna be a hell of an emotional whiplash when Walky walks up and hits Dorothy in the head with that flaming skull.

Harold

Dumbing of Age, Book 16: Y'Know, Prison Isn't ANYTHIN' Like It Is in All the Lesbo Porns

Dan Rabin

I concur that Robin's façade has crumbled in the last panel. We've seen her heart be in the right place with her vow to fire Ryan and her withdrawal from her re-election campaign citing Becky, but this is different.

Dan Rabin

I don't know how this fictionalized version of IU is administered, but the decision to crack down on the protest may have come from a higher level than Anthony McHenry. In some American state universities that I'm familiar with, deans of constituent schools deal most often with a provost who is like a chief operating officer, reporting to a president who does a lot of the direction-setting, decision-making, and lobbying for funding at the state-political level. Then there's some sort of board of directors, which in a state university might be loaded with politician types. In a conservative state like Indiana these people would be a strong force for keeping students in line.

Amós Batista

Oh, I never see Robin suffering from Reality Check

Dan Rabin

Raidah would certainly be aware of Robin as her former representative in Congress, but might not know how annoying she is to deal with in non-scripted settings.

voyager-ngc5195

Sounds like they need to contact the ACLU for a first amendment rights violation. (For those reading past-2025, 'Rights' were a thing Americans had before the government went absolutely batshit insane)

C.T. Phipps

I am honestly surprised by this sudden dose of realism that actual faculty would have worse punishments protesting their own university. It's why I was stunned Asma still had a job.

C.T. Phipps

Linda may wonder why Walky has become an Antibulmerite.

Fart Captor

Oh god what if they end up working at Galasso's to make ends meet while they're appealing

Shane Wegner

How do you criminal trespass on your own campus? Who is pressing the charges?

Zesstra

I feel like I just got double whiplash from thinking "well that was resolved much quicker than I expected" and then "oh that's a huge problem".

Shane Wegner

I guess there’s an element of biting the hand that feeds you. “If our investment portfolio choices offend you so much, it’s understandable if you don’t wish to work for us. We can help expedite that.” -Deans

GundamBradley

Is she mad at Sal? She's certainly mad at Walky. I don't recall her being mad at Jennifer.

ArdieBea

Asma (courtesy of AG and her own wire-cutters) got out. I guess our favourite faculty didn't.

Mohmi

SAME AS IT EVER WAS

Michael Flannagan

I think it's more the actual arrest. Arrest records are public information. Even if the university was reluctant to do it (and I don't think they were), it would have forced their hand

ArdieBea

And don't forget the reality check when she lost her party's backing. Robin is a chaos monster designed to run head-long into Reality.

Zesstra

"How many 'lesbo porns' have you been watching?" "That's not important right now."

Sky Starlight

Galasso's: Where all the lesbians end up working

ThatOneGuy

The school called in the police to arrest the protesters for trespassing.

Kazo

I think we need to start thinking about why Leslie's girlfriend didn't bail her out

Waifu Purplebutt

As the campus is, technically, private property, and they specifically said that the protest couldn't happen on said private property, they were committing trespass for protesting there. The school would have been violating 1A if they penalized having the opinion, but they're penalizing the trespass, and the trespass being a protest doesn't make it not trespassing. If they'd had the protest just outside school grounds, where the school wasn't allowed to tell them to leave, then this entire mess wouldn't have happened.

NinjaZaku

I forgot that in this universe, Robin was introduced as a *career politician* and didn't bumble her way into the job. So yeah she damn well knows what the consequences are from here.

Sajuuk-Khar

Anna did not have time to bail Leslie out because Anna was busy committing the act of murder

David M Willis

Lucy: is that a prerequisite? Am I in the wrong section???

Shane Wegner

That’s understandable for people who are neither students nor faculty at the school. Out of towners wandering onto campus property might fit. Students and faculty are authorized to move about freely available spaces like Dunn Meadow.

Shane Wegner

Then they find out Galasso owns shares of Ruttech.

Shane Wegner

“I passed some of the relevant statutes involved!”

Packy Anderson

Unless they're expelled or fired. I feel like that's the shoe waiting to drop, here.

Packy Anderson

Raidah may be from a different district, especially considering how gerrymandered districts are these days.

VengeanceKnight

I mean, with Galasso it’s different because at least he’s upfront about being a bad guy who seeks domination and oppression.

VengeanceKnight

Actually, I think Willis has been setting up at least three different avenues of the characters getting out of this. In order from most to least likely: 1. Robin still has some political influence and was seen as a pretty big “get” for the college. Suspending/firing her within a couple months for expressing the newly discovered left-wing views (I know, I know, but that’s the public’s outside perspective) that made her available for the job in the first place would really make them look like (even bigger) jackasses. I consider this most likely to happen because it might end up helping only Robin and not Leslie and will therefore be good for more drama. 2. Linda is friends with Dean Big Boss and can appeal to him. This can apply to his son Tony as well. 3. Carla’s parents are in charge of Ruttech. If they hear how their company’s actions are indirectly ruining the lives of Carla’s friends they might step in. And change some things about how their company operates while they’re at it. This, obviously, is the least likely thing to happen.

Ilana Feldman

This is a good Robin page, I just wish that we got a higher-detail look at her expression in the last panel. Also very interested to see where her and Leslie go from this point.

Harold

@Ilana Feldman: Maybe there's a toy/game store in the area that has vacancies

Sajuuk-Khar

Anna: Shit. Leslie called five times? Fuck. I’d better make sure to get the tarps to the disposal station *now*.

Tessea

Robin being this dejected is legitimately unsettling.

Tessea

Heartbreaking might be a better description.

Mariah

look consequences! the main site can be happy for once.

Irene Knapp

that's probably how it feels to the characters, too, tbh

Kazo

I sincerely hope you're right cause all I'm saying is I lost friendships for my pro-Palestinian stance....

Dmitri0240

Joyce and Dorothy are still alive and together, so I'm not optimistic about the main site being happy.

Sajuuk-Khar

Oof. :< Genuine, non-bit condolences, that sucks ass
