Functionally, this is two half-strips butt-spliced under a unifying heading of the dorm wing reacting after the cops leave. The first half-strip gives a general range of reactions, with its own punch line on Mary's shame over what's on her computer. I read the second half-strip as Tony having some things to learn about the gap between decent people and what abusers of authority do. I personally think he will side with the decent people—he is one—but he may have to go through a loss-of-faith experience to get there.

“I sympathize that the cops rummaged this building” doesn’t necessarily translate to “I am personally responsible for the cops rummaging this building.” Of course, it doesn’t -rule out- the possibility either, I guess. He seems like he has other priorities than finding and narcing on Amazigirl though. Can we conclusively rule out Tony as the anonymous tipster to Amber? I don’t know how he’d know to message her, or have her phone number, but he plausibly could have overheard enough to have advance knowledge so that’s partway there. On the off chance it was him, Tony haters will be tricked.

So a lot of people seem to be reading what Tony said as “I hope our fine police officers succeeded in rooting out amazigirl and punishing her” I kind of read it more as “I don’t know what they wanted, but I hope they were satisfied because it means they won’t be back and won’t be bothering my girlfriend or her friends anymore” now, maybe I’m not entirely right, but either way I don’t know that we have enough information to completely write Tony off. Let’s not assume he’s an irredeemable bootlicker like Mary until we have more definitive information. I say this just because I love Sarah and don’t want her boyfriend to be an irredeemable bootlicker. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, though time will tell if that’s wise or not 😅
