As a fellow autistic I too am told I do not use the appropriate tones frequently

Minzoku Bokumetsu

"I learned from the toneless hellscape of the Internet!"

C

...Oh Joyce.

Harold

They *both* seem to have misplaced the shared brain cell tonight

Rob McBobson

See, I was happy enough that we finally got more Asma, and this? This is even *better* than I expected! That "I'm not paid enough to put up with this" attitude... It's a bit like this Christmas, where I already knew my brother was gonna get me some chocolates, and turns out, he got me a bag of nothing but my *favorites*.

Ragtime

I wonder if it's gonna be Sal or if Willis is pulling a double trick and it'll actually be Alice.

Empress of Robots

In Joyce's defense, Sarah cleaned up most of the mess and THEN Joyce got laid so I think Joyce's tone is very appropriate.

Logibear

"I need to clarify... when Joyce said that Cops went through our stuff. She wasn't meaning that I went down on her this afternoon or anything... because I'm not a cop..." "...Have you ever socialised before?" "We were just talking about that!"

tifani

This is painful. The nightmare that is socializing.

Lazuli

swing and a miss, dorothy. swing and a miss.

tifani

This gets worse when it sinks in that Dorothy said cop over and over and then two seconds later Asma is like “cops went through my stuff.” Like would she have said that if Dorothy hadn’t said all that before? Who can know! But basically the vibe is already fucked.

GundamBradley

It's astonishing how these two can exist, and people think *Danny* is the awkward one.

AE Gonzalez

“Literally, pick a lane.”

Jesse

Is Dorothy basically a gender-swapped Psycho Pete from Always Sunny?

William Lewis

Joyce has an innocence that is hard to connect with Asma...

Tessea

It might be me, but I'm starting to think that their personalities just might not quite gel with Asma's.

Rubia

I'm just gonna place a "It's not a competition!" gif meme variant here.

IAmDeltaS

nice Community reference

Vivian

I'm so excited for Sal to join them for bowling

Fart Captor

since we still haven't checked in on Becky or Dina, I'm given no choice but to assume they're currently having extremely depraved makeup sex

Sajuuk-Khar

Well, Keener, I made it, *despite* your directions

Sajuuk-Khar

Not so exploded that Joyce can’t put a collar on her, surely Because if panel four doesn’t confirm that has to happen in 72pt Impact font with flashing lights

Dan Rabin

The visual progress here runs from solo panels at the start to a full three-way at the end. Asma is always facing at least partway towards the bowling position. It takes half the strip for her to find out the actual lane number, and she delivers her weightiest information in panel 5, where her stance is most focused on bowling. Despite Joyce's friendly smile, she leans away from Asma and towards Dorothy—and apparently her bowling ball feels likewise. ...and we get a forefinger from Dorothy in panel 4.

Shane Wegner

Innocence, crushing naivitë, potato-potahto. “Oh! A police is arresting me. But if I just tell him I’m one of the GOOD protestors, he’ll relent” levels of naive. It was Joyce’s instinct when that happen, Asma was more worldly.

Shane Wegner

The fact that panel 2 Dorothy badly needs Asma to believe this instantly undermines her supposed devil-may-care not cop energy. Also where’s…uh Alice, which was Asma’s prime reason for being here? Except they maybe guessed she meant Sal, who hasn’t expressed any interest women and is a committed relationship, and they knew both of those.

Beck Chonigman

Joyce, Dorothy, as much as I love you guys, you might just have to accept that you and Asma don't click on a social level and that's okay and maybe realize there's more truth to Joyce's point of "offloading guilt onto people of vulnerable groups that you unintentionally caused hardship to" or whatever Joyce's post nut clarity was. Bc y'all, mostly Dorothy rn though, are trying WAY too hard. (She might at least respect you a bit more if you were at least honest to yourselves and others about it).

Mitzi B.

Everyone is suffering in this comic. I love it

Jasmijn Wellner

So do y'all carry bowling balls at the same time? Because I don't pick one up until my name is actually blinking on the janky-ass TV that's above the lane

KittyKai

They have become such good friends already you guys xD

Railway Series Book Club

well im home sick from work today so i guess i may as well edit a collar onto her and post it to tumblr when the strip goes public speaking of which you need to check your tumblr dms, i tried messaging you there months ago :sob:

Patrick Duke

Ah, Front Desk Girl Asma! Hope you're prepared for an unforgettable bowling!

DramaQueen

Alternatively maybe Asma is cranky right now for good reasons and they don’t need to take it personally. She showed up!

DramaQueen

They also weren’t explicitly told she has a crush on whomever she vaguely indicated and acting as matchmakers is way out their lane.

DramaQueen

Yes, Asma is giving me very cranky post-cop Sarah-type vibes here. Actually perfect for chipper Joyce to bounce off.

DramaQueen

And anyone who expects them to pick up on hints and stuff only the audience saw is doomed to disappointment.

Harold

@Dan Rabin: I doubt Asma is interested in a full three-way. Hey-O! Or a forefinger from Dorothy

Charlotte St. John

When we're all grouping around a bowling lane, I hold mine kind of possessively, so that no one goes "oh hey, that's the one for me!" Since there's usually balls left over at every lane i've been at.

Margaret Ann

Ya, that's what's actually in lane four. :D

Sajuuk-Khar

Oh! Oh no! I never look at those! D: oh heck

Dmitri0240

“Trying too hard” is who Dorothy is. If there’s any chance of this friendship working out, Joyce and Dorothy should be true to themselves and let Asma take it from there.

Dmitri0240

If the only description Asma gave is the one we saw on-panel, then she really only has herself to blame if Joyce and Dorothy assume she's talking about their good friend Sal instead of some random women they only recently met. And if she was expecting them to immediately understand that her interests were romantic rather than platonic, boy did she not understand who she was talking to. Personally, I can't help but wonder if Asma *was* talking about Sal, will get discouraged when Sal shows up with Danny, but then perk up again when Alice shows up with Jennifer.

tifani

Yeah Dorothy really seems to be forcing this friendship more to prove something about herself and the type of person she wants to be seen as (not a cop) then any actual interest in Asma as a person. Meanwhile Asma is only doing this for a chance with Alice.
