Dorothy: It would be too convenient for Carla to be having a crisis of conscience about this, I suppose… Jocelyne: Probably. Well, we’ll just have to get my sister to seduce her. Dorothy: Wait WHAT

Star Ringer

hmmm I wonder *sliding toy car back and forth on the table* I wonnnnnnderrrrrrrrrr *puts a cape on the car* I WONNNNNNNNNDDDDE

Dorothy, it’s okay to say you think Sarah’s hot. Your girlfriend is fantasizing about Sal and Carla. Speaking of which, Carla seems like she’d help you out.

Maude Reads Things

Hoo boy, this is going to be a conversation. Honestly, I feel like that sort of thing is a part of activism Dorothy could be very good at. She's respectful to people and tries to understand where they're coming from but is pretty good at making reasoned arguments and appealing to people's better nature.

Fart Captor

Oh I want Carla and Jocelyn to meet this is gonna be rough 🥹

The Carla Outreach Committee will be headed by Joyce’s Jugs

So, we have possible directions to take this story.

David Jackson

Was "tack" meant here (as in "change tack") instead of "tact?"

Astariel

Maybe short for tactic?

Astariel

I like the self-awareness from Dorothy in panel 2.

Bronxden

is the picture/strip not available for anyone else?

Harold

Looks like there was a temporary glitch - I can see it now.

Railway Series Book Club

anything that gets us closer to carla and jocelyne making out sloppy style is a good plan

Maude Reads Things

I think she'll have better luck in a one on one conversation.

Packy Anderson

For some reason, I am fascinated by the chicken on the wall behind Dorothy.

Packy Anderson

Tack as in "to change the direction of (a sailing ship)". So what Jocelyn is saying another suggested direction. https://arc.net/l/quote/alsossfq Unless you're saying it was spelled "tact", in which case it's been corrected to "tack".

Tessea

This could go not great, Dorothy. You have to live in close proximity to these people.

Dan Rabin

Jocelyne quaffing coffee does a lot for this strip, keeping it from being all information exchange between talking heads. The extra stage business does not interrupt Jocelyne's intense interest in the conversation, as conveyed by her tilted head. Jocelyne was somewhat surprised in the previous strip to find out about the closer-than-expected Joyce->Sarah->Tony->Anthony connection, but today it's evident that Jocelyne was planning on sounding out Dorothy about the Carla->Ruttech connection. Note that Jocelyne is here looking for social connections just as Raidah does, but is doing so for altruistic—as opposed to selfish—reasons. We can also think about who flaunts connections versus who must weigh a need for concealment. Interesting.

I doubt Carla's going to be interested in working with some anonymous activist group; if they want her assistance then do the respectful thing and formally request a meeting with her and the heads of the organization. The fact is, if they're wanting her to put her name and reputation on the line, then considering what's already occurred they need to bring more to the table than just having Dorothy middle-manning things.

Logibear

Yeah... might lead to her going on an a parallel arc to Raidah regarding using people as resources

NinjaZaku

Carla has only recently started coming to grips with the fact her family profits off of bad things, she is not going to react well to being asked this.

Piling on, triangular sails let you sail upwind, by sailing across the wind slightly. Sailing across the wind is called a tack, and it also means you end up heading towards other obstacles or only sailing indirectly toward your goal. Changing tack means to tack in the other side direction to the wind.

Julian Williams

.... Carla's parents love her, and this protest was brought about by the protest, which she is invested in. Carla also loves petty revenge and is EXTREMELY fucking pissed because the cops profiled her. She might not be happy about this question but I could see it happening.

Shane Wegner

I would enjoy it if the Deans and/or Ruttech genuinely heard them out and then said “We understand your concerns. We just don’t agree with you.”

Shane Wegner

Basil Exposition isn’t a well loved character, but the Expositin’ usually needs doing.

Shane Wegner

“Find someone with humanity…then exploit them” although meant well, still sounds a little off.

Chris Driggers

Didn’t think we’d notice the Futurama reference…but we did.

Rob McBobson

We, uh, sure did! But maybe you could point it out for all, uh, all the people who didn't. People who aren't me at all.

Crunchos cereal

”To shreds”, it’s from an episode of Futurama where Fry and Bender are looking for an apartment. Professor gets a call about his friend, and says ”To shreds, you say? How’s he’s wife holding up? To shreds, you say?” Their apartment is of course free and Fry moves there.

Lea

Yeah. First time I haven't been abjectly thrilled with Jocelyn (to my memory). "Let's exploit their humanity" is... mercenary. I get it, and why, but...yeah..

David Jackson

The strip originally said "tact," yeah. I see it's been corrected.

Reverend Jundas

And then he turns around and yells "good news everybody!" (Professor not Fry) Or at least that's how I remember the scene

Empress of Robots

A trans woman getting ready to tear another trans woman apart as a political statement! Love to see Trans Bluesky Discourse reflected in DoA😂

Tessea

Sadly no one is perfect.
